Recently set up with Tap and go, I had Marc who contacted me , offering to do a free comparison, I’m so glad he did. He explained everything very thoroughly and spoke about the different options, he ended up saving me money on my fees and was so polite and patient with me. Evasive on prices when quoting.
I was quoted a very competitive rate on all transactions. I asked several times, by email, if there would be ANY other charges or fees, whether one-off, flat rate, or percentages. The answer was always no.
Luckily when I got to the point of signing up, it emerged that the rate they quoted was just their own charges, not the total of their own charges plus the charges levied by Visa and Mastercard. The total was more than double the rate they had been quoting.
The back-pedalling and excuses about the previous email conversation has been epic. The quoting of their own rate alone has been represented as a virtue of "transparency". They now claim they could not give me a complete quote because I refused to tell them what my current supplier was charging! (I did tell them the monthly transaction value for each card type, because obviously that would factor into the fee structure, but my current supplier's rates are completely irrelevant).
I asked for their quotes in good faith, and I find the waste of my time very irking, and I can only see it as a dishonest practice. Especially since the company has defended the sales representative's approach, so it's clearly viewed by them as acceptable .
I have subsequently signed up with a different supplier, who was absolutely clear about all the costs I would incur, even though I am not privy to their profit margin. I'd rather be aware of my costs than their margin.

After 3 months of using Tap & Go I would tay well clear!
Please be aware you only have the card machine with tap&go! All monies and PCI are dealt with by AIB bank which also are not great with regards to invoicing, statements and itemised transaction.
Not an easy to use and very slow terminal as well. I could go on about PCI hidden charges etc.
Been asked to give more details!
Despite several phone calls to check the settings are correct the terminal would still print a customer and merchant receipt.
Terminal start up (for the first transaction of the day) would be up to a minute. Not helpful when a customer is waiting to pay!
Unable to find a transaction of an amount on the terminal, only via a transaction number.
No itemised transaction list per day on the terminal or with AIB.

Can't thank Carly and Ellie enough for the help, been an on-going customer, we had an issue with one of our machines, Carly issued a replacement for the machine with a newer version of what we had, sadly, the new machine didn't fit out company and staff liking, Ellie arranged the old machine to be replaced like for like and the trial machine to be collected immediately. Top tier service and communication from both.
