Samer was the Taxrise employee that I dealt with today. He did an excellent job, was informative explaining everything clearly and sent me what I had called about previously and he was kind, professional and empathetic to my situation. Thank you hiring professional, empathetic and kind employees!
I called them with the hope that they…
I called them with the hope that they could potentially lower the amount of taxes I owed for both Federal and State. They asked me to pay an initiation fee of 375, which I did, unfortunately. After a week, they asked to schedule a consultation with me to discuss their recommended path to resolving my tax debt. During the consultation, they said that I owe over $46k in taxes and that they can set me up on a monthly payment plan of $641 for 72 months. I found that odd because I owed just a little over $7k in federal taxes. So I asked the representative why the supposed "taxes owed" is 6 times what I actually owe. He said that that was what was given to them by the IRS. I had just filed my taxes and that's not what it shows that I owe (which I indicated during the initial call a couple of weeks ago with them). Then when I raised that question to the representative, they then said that I was right that I only owed a little over $7k in federal taxes but they can set me up on a monthly payment plan which would be $130 per month for 72 months - which means an interest of about 7% (same interest you would pay directly with IRS payment plans). I then asked - so what service am I actually getting from them if I were to commit to the payment plan of 130 x 72? Because didn't they advertise and promise during the initiation call (that I paid 375 for) to get my tax debt lowered up to 80 to 90%? Yes, the lingo there says "up to" which means it could potentially be 0% and not really up to 80 or 90% savings on what is owed. So now I am left questioning - what's the purpose of having TaxRise when you can directly make payments with the IRS for taxes that are owed? When I asked about the $46k tax amount owed, they blamed the IRS and their supposed new system they're working with. Was the $46k balance just a bait to see if anyone would actually make those payments to them? Wouldn't that be theft at this point knowing that a person only owes a little over $7k in taxes and yet proceed on presenting a monthly payment plan of 641 x 72? Doesn't make any sense to me. I feel like the 375 initiation fee to pay them to investigate my tax history with the IRS is just a way to make a profit and no investigations done - otherwise, if investigations were done, then they'd know that I didn't owe $46k in taxes but only a little over $7k. I should be refunded my 375 for the lack of investigation done - because if true investigation was done, then company should have known my actual tax debt.

I paid for service for this company to…
I paid for service for this company to do nothing but take my money, Paid 350 for a consultation for them to proceed to charge me 5000 to handle my tax problem, I paid a 1000 down and did 246.20 a month. I gave them all info needed for them to do a tax amendment for 2023 and file my 2024 taxes they got all my information for the to be prep my taxes for another 3 months, i called asking was everything do or did i need to do anything else they told me they filed my taxes for 2024 and did the amendment for 2023 so i proceed to file my 2025 taxes and the irs took them to pay debit that was pose to be handled already i called the irs to see what they had and didn't have and they told me that they only have my 2025 taxes and didn't have nothing else. So after finding that out i call to cancel my service the agent proceed to get mad an talk over me then threaten me with a 1500 dollar cancellation fee which is not in the contract. Then once i said okay ill pay that he proceed to tell me that he can't do it right now because he don't have the access and i still haven't got a call till this day. I would no recommend using they service they just want your money and don't care to help you.

After several months of waiting ..
___ IN ADDITION ___
I paid $13,000 for TaxRise’s services — yes, THIRTEEN THOUSAND dollars — and every time I ask them to justify what was actually done for that amount, I get the same deflection.
They tell me the loan is “between me and the creditor” and that they have nothing to do with it.
That makes absolutely no sense.
The only reason that loan exists is because of TaxRise. It was taken out specifically to pay for their services, based on what they represented they would do for me. I would have never taken on a $13K financial obligation otherwise.
Now that I’m asking for accountability, they are trying to separate themselves from the very loan they set in motion.
Even more frustrating — the outcome I was told they would pursue (like Currently Non-Collectible status) didn’t happen. Instead, I was put into an installment agreement… something I could have done myself for free.
So now I’m stuck paying:
• Hundreds per month on a $13K loan
• AND monthly payments to the IRS
All while being told they have no responsibility for the financial burden they created.
I’ve repeatedly asked for a clear breakdown of what work was actually done to justify the cost, and I have yet to receive a real answer.
At this point, it feels misleading at best.
If you’re considering using TaxRise, be very careful — especially if financing is involved. Make sure you fully understand what you’re actually getting before committing to a large loan tied to their services.
After several months of waiting ...
My experience with TaxRise has been a financial nightmare.
They took $500 upfront just to start, and then pushed me to take out a $13,000 loan through United Consumer Financial Services (UCFS) to pay for their services. The loan agreement even says UCFS is taking assignment of the contract from TaxRise, which made it sound like they would be accountable and motivated to actually work toward the best possible tax resolution.
Instead, I’m now stuck paying $500 a month on that loan, and on top of that I’m paying $760 a month to the IRS on an installment agreement. That’s over $1,200 a month, which completely defeats the purpose of hiring a tax resolution company in the first place.
The entire process left me with more debt and more financial pressure, not less. If you are considering TaxRise, be extremely careful about agreeing to financing through UCFS or paying large fees upfront.
Updated
I strongly advise people to avoid **TaxRise Inc.. My experience was extremely disappointing and financially damaging.
TaxRise took $500 upfront and then had me finance approximately $13,000 through United Consumer Financial Services Company for their services. I was told they would pursue Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status, which was presented as the primary strategy for resolving my tax situation.
That never happened.
Instead of obtaining CNC status, they simply set up a basic installment agreement with the Internal Revenue Service — something that taxpayers can do themselves directly with the IRS.
Because of this, I am now stuck paying around $500 per month on the loan for TaxRise’s services plus approximately $760 per month to the IRS on the installment agreement they arranged. The result is that I am paying thousands of dollars for a service outcome that did not match what was promised.
The entire structure of the arrangement — large upfront payment, expensive financing, and then delivering a basic payment plan — feels extremely misleading.
Consumers looking for tax help should be very cautious before signing contracts or financing agreements with this company. I regret trusting their sales process and wish I had known beforehand that the final result would simply be an installment agreement I could have arranged myself.

My Personal Experience with TaxRise
For years I have been struggling to work with the IRS to resolve my back taxes owed without success. I made several attempts to make payments but it seemed that I was going in circles as late fees and compounding interest fees were making it difficult to manage tax debt. The IRS was threatening to take possession of my property if payment was not satisfactory to them. I am retired and living on limited income so paying this tax debt was very difficult.
TaxRise resolved my problems with the IRS within a year; I have been placed on hardship and will no longer be receiving any collection notices from the IRS. TaxRise worked diligently with the IRS to have my tax issues resolved.
Thank you Yasmin and the TaxRise Team for all your efforts in giving me relief and peace of mind!
Do not use Taxrise for tax relief, SCAM
Do not use Taxrise for tax relief. The company requires you to take out a loan to pay, and then they leave you high and dry. No contact; they will not resolve your tax issue, but then you are stuck with the loan they require to help you, which they don't. BIG RED FLAG on this company.
