I have learnt so much on this fascinating course which has increased my enjoyment of art enormously. The modules are well presented and the questions really helped my learning. I was very impressed with the tutor feedback which was quick and very helpful. I recently visited a gallery with my family and they were amazed at my new knowledge!
I have done a few online courses but so far this is the most enjoyable that I have done. I am part way through but have enjoyed each module which are written by various art history experts. The assignments are marked really quickly and the feedback is constructive.
My experience has been excellent with this History of Art course
This is a great course for people new to art history (like me) and for those with some experience.
I am just starting module 11 but have enjoyed every module.
The assignments are challenging but within reach. If you do want to do well you will have to put in the effort.
My tutor Francesca has been brilliant. As has Libby who stepped in a couple of times when Francesca was on holiday. The speed with which questions are answered and assignments marked is impressive. They take it very seriously.
Great price too
I will be sad when it is all over !
The 12 modules grow from first to last adding to previously gained knowledge.
Each module is written by an acclaimed expert and encourage further exploration.
Tutors are friendly and respond quickly to messages with helpful advice. Again tutors are clear experts in their areas.
The assignment aspect is challenging but reinforces the messages learned.
The flexibility of study and assignment submission fits with my busy life style.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the course so far. The modules are well written and the tutor feedback is very encouraging.
I am loving doing this course. The information sent is of an excellent quality. The tutor is helpful, and all feedback feels tailored to my needs. It is challenging, but in a positive way.
The materials are detailed and helpful but leave you having to look for more input. The assessments are challenging that make you search for other inputs. The feedback is great and the assessors make you think all the way through.
I had been wanting to take this course for a while, and I'm so glad I finally did.
I have learnt so much about different art periods and have discovered so many new favourite artists who I had never heard of before.
Feedback from my tutor is always quick, with excellent advise, and recommendations, which will keep me occupied long after this course is finished.
I would absolutely recommend The Art Institute, it is well worth the money.
I have very much enjoyed the Art Appreciation course. It is well organised, the course materials are excellent and my allocated tutor offers comprehensive and insightful feedback on my assignments. The course gives a thorough overview of what is an enormous topic and the further reading list offers opportunities for deeper research.
I wasn’t sure that I was doing the right thing when I decided last year to do the art appreciation course but I have enjoyed it. Some modules have been better than others but that is due to my preferences. My Tutor has been very helpful in pointing where I could have looked for more interest. I will be sorry when I have finished my two final Modules. I can thoroughly recommend The Art Institute and in fact have suggested that at least one of my friends enrolles.
The course has enabled me to gain excellent knowledge about various aspects of western art history. I definitely recommend this course to anyone who has an interest in art and history.
Modules all very interesting and well written. The assignments are understandably, challenging and involve digging deeper than just the module content. Once I have submitted my assignments there is a very quick response from my tutor together with helpful comments. I’m thoroughly enjoying the course and will be sorry when I complete it!
I am enjoying the course but personal/work commitments mean I cannot do it to your timetable. I found the 17th century frustrating but have enjoyed the other books. The other thing I find very frustrating is that the live tutor has suggested reading additional books, this leads to delay waiting for delivery so I miss my window for reading the unit. And I do find it frustrating that there is no dialogue, information is one way.
The material is comprehensive and well presented although the terminology is a little obscure at times
The course units are well presented, interesting and well illustrated. My tutor responds to my questions quickly and assignments are marked very swiftly. His comments are helpful.
The units are relatively short so no death by over-information! There are reading lists and suggestions for further study. Also a useful list of galleries where pictures in the unit can be seen.
Assignments are required to be short, approximately 250 words, which is very challenging but a good discipline. It’s hard to know what to leave out!
The course can take as long as you want but if you take longer than a year a top-up fee is required. You can add modules when doing this so the extra expense is not enormous.
I’m really enjoying the course. I recommend that students allocate time each week to complete the work as time soon slips by.
The progression of discovery in the Art history is so interesting and module after module, the curiosity for more knowledge grows.
A fabulous journey, discovering facts but also challenging your own capabilities through each assignment.
I would recommend strongly this course to anyone.
The course is brilliantly conceived and totally comprehensive. the modules flow really well and the use of different experts for each is refreshing and interesting. The assignments are well thought out and challenging and the feedback always constructive. I am thoroughly engaged with and enjoying the course.
There is so much information in the modules and that encourages a lot of external research too. My tutor has been so supportive and helpful – and always gets back within a very short time. I am now on Module Six out of twelve and have already learnt far more than I ever envisaged.
