A Waste Of Time & Money

I ordered two cases of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale from The Beer Town and wish I hadn't. We opened the first case and none of the bottles we tasted were good; the beer was very slightly sweet, more like a juicy pale ale - which this beer isn't! I requested a refund on the site and waited days before a response. The Beer Town then refunded 20% of the case we'd opened and arranged for a collection of the second case. Collection by APC didn't happen, so a neighbour I'd asked to accept it had to wait in for two days. There were errors during several stages of the communication; in total I exchanged over 30 emails, simply trying to get the second case collected. The following day, APC called to say the collection hadn't been made! So, more emails. There had been no instructions re: packing the case for collection, no return label or anything else so I was lucky I thought to put The Beer Town address on the box, so that APC could eventually identify it. The Beer Town did at least refund for the returned case but I've still paid 80% of the cost of a case of undrinkable beer. I've emailed The Beer Town stating this but the replies have now stopped.

To summarise, after spending over a week trying to resolve this problem, I have 8 bottles left of beer I can't drink and am about £25 out of pocket. I've had several stressful email exchanges and two confusing telephone calls and therefore cannot recommend this seller. The handling of the collection process was particularly unprofessional, but The Beer Town could have made it right by refunding me in full. The fact that they just stop replying when I ask to be properly refunded really leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Firstly, I would like to apologise for your experience with this order, as it was far from the service we aim to provide.

When you had first emailed ourselves on a Saturday, we got back to you first thing the following Monday as there is no one on weekend shifts. We received your order details and looked into the issue for you. We then informed yourself that we could arrange a free collection for the unopened case, and a 20% refund for the case in which several bottles had been opened, which you had initially agreed to.

However, you then stated that you would like the full cost of the opened case refunded, as you felt they didn't taste right. We replied just over an hour later, advising that usually we would not refund the whole case as several had been opened, but on this occasion we would as a goodwill gesture. You have now been fully refunded for both cases, while being able to keep one.

In regards to the collection, I can only apologise as this one is on us. There was an honest mistake made where we hadn't confirmed the collection, and thereafter a lack of communication between ourselves and APC. Once again, I can only apologise to yourself and your neighbour, as the issues with the collection could have been avoided.

In summary, you have been refunded for the collected case, and also for the opened case, which you are free to keep and use in whatever way you may see fit.

Again, I apologise for the negative experience you have had, and I hope you can consider giving us another chance some day in the future.

I noticed they had my review removed…

I noticed they had my review removed from Google a couple of years ago so thought I'd just remind anyone who comes across this - don't buy anything of these charlatans if you value your health. Ordered 8 bottles of cider, only got seven, and every single bottle they sent was coated with shards of broken glass so as I took the first bottle out I slit all my hand open. You might think: oh well that could easily be the delivery drivers fault, heavy handed, glass bottles. Nope. Because the bottles where packed in bubble wrap WITH shards of glass on each and every bottle inside the bubble wrap.

I usually wouldn't bother but noticed that my review was removed so thought I'd just let anyone who is thinking of using this embarrassment of a company to think twice.

We haven't removed your Google review, we can still see your review along with another on our Trustpilot from August 2024 regarding the same issue.

When you had first emailed us, we replied the next day apologising and advising that we could uplift the damaged stock via our courier, and could either issue a replacement out to yourself or a full refund, but we didn't receive a response back.

Once again, I apologise for all the trouble that this order had caused, and hope you will consider giving us another chance sometime in the future.
