Experience with Novelry
I had an idea to write a novel, and enrolled in their 90 Day Novel Class. Not only did I learn so many techniques and built my knowledge, but received thoughtful, supportive and encouraging support from their coaches. I'm happy to share that it WORKED and I successfully completed my book.
I then enrolled in their course The Big Edit which taught me best practices on editing and making the best manuscript possible.
After completing that, I enrolled in the Ultimate Manuscript Assessment and had it reviewed with one of their editors. To say I was pleased would be a disservice, as I was completely blown away. It was such a comprehensive overview with detailed notes on all the important elements (plot, characters, voice, etc.) as well as a marked up manuscript. Not only did Simran confirm what I suspected didn't work and needed fixing, Simran also identified so many areas to improve (which weren't even on my radar!) to tell the story I was intending. Not only is this going to produce a way better manuscript, but will save me thousands of hours in the process.
If you're a writer and want to level up your game and join an incredible community of fellow writers, look no further!

If you are in any doubt about signing up for a course on this outstanding novel writing brand, do not hesitate. I am signed up for the Finished Novel Course, for those wanting to write to get published. I started November 7th, 2023, and am now at the start of the 90-Day Novel part. How to bring a story to life, the characters, execution, psychology, drive, vibe, and what hooks the reader, are all included. It is multi-layered and in-depth, including coaching sessions by published authors. This is only a small snapshot of a highly comprehensive course, from a current student, with the bare bones of a novel.

I've recently completed the 90-Day Novel course on the Novelry and have been delighted by the content, wonderfully supportive team and community that Louise has built. The content is well thought through and constructed to help gently build your confidence as you progress, with talented coaches on hand through six one-to-one Zoom sessions to help you develop your idea and take it on to a first draft. The coaches have a wealth of publishing experience they are happy to share to strengthen your chances of success. Alongside this is an active community willing to share their own advice and support your writing journey, an impressively active team that often comments on the boards, and multiple weekly live sessions available to members at which you can ask anything related to writing. It also has a large bank of recorded content that provides a valuable resource of ideas, inspiration, and advice from both the Novelry team and a wide range of successful guest authors and editors. You have to be willing to put in the time to get the most from the course and commit to using all the resources, but I would highly recommend it and cannot imagine writing a draft so quickly or so enjoyably without it!

Excellent instruction for writers at any point. Great structure, support, and tools to finally become serious and write that book.

I embarked on The Finished Novel course a little over a month ago, and I must say, I'm absolutely blown away by the depth of detail in each lesson, workshops with bestselling authors, and the community! Just scheduled my first coaching session with the renowned bestselling author Kathie Kan, and I'm still pinching myself that I'm finally pursuing my dreams with The Novelry. The confidence I've gained is immeasurable. Looking back, I only wish I had discovered this gem during the pandemic!

I find the coaching sessions especially useful to be able to fix what I've always had trouble with in my stories.
I love that it's easy to get help and guidance from Louise and all the other staff, as well as members who offer kind feedback in the groups. The workshops are also great, even if I can't often connect. I love having the recorded versions to watch whenever I have the chance. Overall, it's being a great experience and I trust that it will get me to where I dream of going since I was a kid!

This is such a fantastic course! It was exactly what I needed to start my writing career. The resources, community, and lessons are unmatched. I highly recommend it!

The Classic course at The Novelry is just the sort of comforting place we all need to start in, for those of us who have always wanted to write a book but lacked the confidence to jump in. The course progression is skillfully mapped out and the exercises are fun, quick yet challenging, but only because the team asks you to focus - to focus on a task that has likely overwhelmed or genuinely scared you. At the end of the course, you will be chomping at the bit to get writing. More importantly, you will find yourself with a cohort of fellow writers - a wonderful community of like-minded folks - all writing.

What a wonderful resource for aspiring authors! With clear instruction, honest (yet kind) feedback, and the clients ultimate goal in mind, I was able to lean into the skills I already had, and learn the ones I needed. In particular, Louise's simple and instructive lessons, Kate's determination to set me on the right path, and Tash's goal-oriented feedback helped me not only get to a place as a writer that I've dreamed of for years, but to fall back in love with the process of writing. I can't sing their praises enough!

I've wanted to write a book for many years now, and the main reason I didn't was because I didn't think I had what it took to write one. The Novelry provides a really supportive environment that equips you with the questions to ask yourself to write a novel, and concrete skills to write a compelling story. I've loved how approachable and strength-focused it is! I'd highly recommend this to anyone who has wanted to write a book but aren't sure where to start.
Aside from writing, the Novelry has been really fantastic for my mental health in encouraging me to take time for myself, and what is important and nourishing for me. It's been really fantastic to focus more on living in the moment, and take joy in the little everyday things in life. I've also loved the community that I've gained, and new folks that I otherwise wouldn't have connected with!

What an incredible experience. Louise has created pure magic. From the videos that are warm, inviting and encouraging, to lessons that are brimming over with knowledge beyond anything I could have imagined, and tasks that take you by the hand and act as a trustworthy guide as you nurture your idea to life. This course has shown me that, yes, it takes a lot of work to create a story worthy of readers, but it can be done from a place of curiosity, joy and space. What a gift. Thank you!

If you've always wanted to write a novel but feel stuck, or if you know you want to write but are not sure where to start, The Novelry is the perfect course for you. Not only does it offer a structured way to progress your story, but it also provides a space to connect with other writers—both published and unpublished—as well as editors and agents. I cannot emphasize enough how supportive the writing community at The Novelry is.
The lessons at The Novelry are all online, and the main course is pre-recorded. They also offer live workshops, interviews with authors and editors, and other live courses where you can interact with other writers and editors. Additionally, you have the option to book one-on-one coaching sessions with published and successful writers.
If you're interested in writing, I highly recommend giving it a try.

I just completed the 90 day novel course. I heartily recommend it. There is such great value with all of the blogs, events and catch-up TV (previous events). But most importantly, the coaching and the lessons are exactly what I needed to stay motivated, work through writing blocks and all the emotions that come with writing a novel!

Really excellent class, delves much deeper than most writing classes I've taken and the daily assignments and tasks helped prepare me for my next draft.

For an aspiring writer the Novelry has everything I could want and more. It’s a serious setup for serious writers and yet it manages to be cozy, supportive and uplifting. I started The Classic course with a certain reservation as to whether I was capable of writing a novel. I decided to trust the process and see where it took me. I’m so pleased that I did. I feel as though I’m in good hands.

I signed up for The Novelry with just the bare bones of an idea and an original draft that never went past 18K words. Somewhere along the "inspiration on steroids" Classic Course, my idea transformed into something I could never have imagined, and I came up with a completely different story - one I'd always wanted to write. But the real magic happened in the Big Edit. I've always tended to rush things and want to move quickly; I now understand why rushing is a disservice to the writing process. Rewriting is key - you don't know your story until your first draft is complete, and editing gives you a chance to refine it so the diamond emerges from the rough. The coaches and mentors at The Novelry are simply brilliant, and their ideas and suggestions took my story to another level. I can't recommend The Novelry highly enough, and I'm truly grateful for the Facebook feed that brought them my way!

I have now virtually completed the “Classic” course, after racing through the early episodes, and then a long hiatus before I caught up with the later ones. I have to say, this really is the most wonderful course on writing, and it is so utterly different from anything I expected. I was inwardly prepared for a detailed analysis of plotting, structure, character arcs, and indeed it has all that. What I was not prepared for was the outright joy with which the course seems to embrace the aesthetic — a word I never expected could possibly appear on any writing course. When I started to see words like “numinous”, and deep dives into spirituality, into the dream-world of our subconscious, the fragility of faith, etc., I was delighted that the course located so centrally not just the how but the why of writing.
The slant and focus of this course is simultaneously intimate and analytic, and seems to have a sixth sense in acknowledging all our fears and discouragements. Nowhere in all these lessons is there anything prescriptive about what your story should be about. It offers no opinion on stories about balding men, misplaced love, the ideal number of household pets. Whatever delicate thoughts of your own you bring to the table will pass through its alchemy entirely unscathed. All it does is reaffirm whatever imaginative potential might be latent in you, along with the things you already feel and believe, but haven’t yet found the words to express it, or quite realised that you knew.
Motivational words are not so hard to write, perhaps. And the course treats you gently, and offers plenty of motivation. But it’s more than motivational words: the course emanates from a deep, sensitive core of belief — and it transmits that belief to those who read it, so that it becomes their own. Its overarching philosophy is that we must search for the single story that really matters, no matter how dark and difficult the places to which that search might take us. So it’s not so much about how to write — that’s secondary — but about finding what we have inside ourselves that must be written.
This class is worth every penny. I have really enjoyed learning about the structure and framework of a novel, down to sentence structure and word patterns.
I had an outline before I started the course. Now I have a detailed map of exactly how to navigate each chapter. Insert words here.
Louise is a great guide and truly enjoys words and storytelling. She make it so fun and playful and magical, which just inspires the creativity.
