Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 47 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people found the facilities overcrowded, making it difficult to enjoy the pools, saunas, and other amenities, often feeling more like a chaotic public swimming pool than a relaxing spa. Customers frequently reported issues with staff, describing them as rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional, particularly concerning inconsistent rule enforcement and lack of assistance. The pricing was also a common point of dissatisfaction, with many feeling that the high costs for entry and additional services did not match the quality of the experience, especially given the overcrowding and lack of free amenities like drinking water. However, some customers also noted that the facilities themselves were modern and well-maintained, with a good variety of pools and saunas, and some even had enjoyable massages and found certain areas to be quiet during off-peak times.

The shittiest therm I've known and I've…

The shittiest therm I've known and I've visited many around Europe. Their online booking system was going crazy suddenly sending me tonnes of contradictory messages after a successful single online booking via website. "Money didn't come", "order cancelled", "here is your ticket" etc kept coming and all at the same time. I even contacted support because of that. Yet when I arrived to Bucharest two days ago I realised that even the ticket date was wrong: suddenly 1.12 in the past instead of 1.1, my only possible day for therm visit as I was flying off from the airport nearby and therefore naturally carefully checked dates and selected correctly. When I reached the support, they couldn't care less, as it was in the past. I came in person and two "client relations managers" showed the same stupid unprofessional attitude, saying it wasn't even their problem, the date is in the past, when I wasn't even in Romania and they all went unused. I got robbed for almost 80 euro, most expensive tickets. Noone apologised or even moved a finger to help.
I must say the queue at the entrance is enormous as they don't arrange it well either: everyone kept coming to ask where is online ticket line and where are the ticketless standing. They aren't even clever enough to put shields with signs to ease people's stay🤦🏻🥴
Client orientation, friendless, professionalism levels are below 0.

Spas are suppose to be relaxing this is not.

Spas are suppose to be relaxing. This place is not. It could be wonderful if they halved the capacity instead of cramming as many people in as physically possible.

You cannot move, every inch of the place is full. You sit in a sauna and every minute the door is opening and closing and every bit of bench is full. I read online it was busy but this was next level. It is the level of busy of disneyworld. So not really relaxing.

Despite having pre bought tickets had to que over half an hour to get in. Finding a changing room took ages as they were all full. Crowds of people at each turnstyle to get in and out of areas. Good luck ever getting in one of the hot tubs! (We gave up trying).

There is also no water anywhere to drink. Any spa i've ever been to has tap water stations to rehydrate. There isn't even tap water station to buy water! Just one place to buy expensive 'vitamin water'. Its not actually safe to not have water available to easily access in the area where all the saunas are!!

There are maps in the changing rooms but not in the actual facility so its hard to know where things are.

They should up the price and reduce the capacity or something as while it seems great to go to a spa for £30 its then a waste of money when its so horribly packed. Would have been better to pay £50 and have less people! (Even if they keep the reduced price for locals or something).

Sadly won't recommend to anyone! The biggest 'instagram vs reality' situation I have ever experienced.

The Spa was worth the trip.

Me and my wife came to Romania for the Spa, it was amazing. We arrived at 11:00 on a Tuesday and was quiet. It got busier throughout the day into the evening. We made the most of the ‘activities’ within the specific saunas having a full pass.
We stayed until 20:45 due to having a great time which was topped off with an amazing Massage with George and Chris.

Extremely Disappointing and Not Relaxing at All

My experience at this thermal spa was far from relaxing. From the moment you arrive, nothing is clear. There are no signs indicating which line to stand in, and no explanation about rentals. You go inside for the lockers only to find out you must exit again to buy flip-flops or a towel.

Once inside, it gets even worse. The place is overcrowded and chaotic. There is nowhere to put your towel, and although all the beds are “occupied,” most of them just have towels on them with no people actually using them. The pools are packed to the point where you can’t even move, and the saunas and steam rooms are also overcrowded.

There’s no drinking water available unless you pay for it, which makes the whole place feel like a money-making machine. People walk around with drinks everywhere and leave them behind in random spots like between plants—very messy. The bathrooms are dirty, with hair everywhere, and the showers are unpleasant; everything is wet and there’s nowhere clean or dry to place your towel.

Leaving the spa is just as bad. There is no lighting on the path to the parking lot—it’s completely dark and feels unsafe. You can’t see where you’re walking, and it’s honestly dangerous.

I will not come back, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Such a disappointing experience.

The famous Bucharest therme...

The famous Bucharest spa… famous for disappointment

If you enjoy wasting money, fighting crowds, and navigating pure chaos, congratulations, you’ve found your paradise.

Overpriced: You pay luxury rates for an experience that feels anything but luxurious.

Disorganized: Staff confused, signs unclear, everything feels improvised. It’s chaos with a chlorine scent.

Not a great Sunday plan

I would not recommend going on a Sunday afternoon. It was too crowded, you can barely find any empty spots inside the saunas or the outdoor swimming pool.
Late evening the indoor swimming pool smelled like sick. There are glasses everywhere.
If they limited the amount of people it'd be more enjoyable.

Horrible

The place itself is huge and quite beautiful but that’s where the positives end.

I bought tickets two months in advance, yet the queue for people with pre-booked tickets was four times longer than the one for people who just walked in. Inside, it was so crowded we couldn’t even find a free chair—not to mention a sunbed. It felt more like a chaotic sale than a relaxing spa.

Despite the entrance fee being almost 50€, they still charged extra for towels and slippers.
And if you want to try a slide? Be prepared to wait over 30 minutes for a 20-second ride.

Worst of all, the overcrowding felt like a serious safety hazard.

Please don’t visit—absolutely not worth it.

There must have been only approx 50 people in front of us so disappointment as we did arrive early !!!

Whole area very busy long waits for massage beds , free face masks and clay masks !!!
Esp silly long wait for drinks and food we gave up in the end and left !!
A lovely day with family but the queues did disappoint !!!

Sauna Fest 2025 & Therme Facilities

Sauna Fest 2025
I recently spent two days attending Sauna Fest 2025, which was an exceptional experience. The festival offered a highly engaging mix of music and theatrical performances, complemented by unique and pleasant sauna scents that differed from typical offerings. The Sauna Masters were friendly, professional, and actively sought audience feedback. I would highly recommend this unique event.

Facilities and Service
Therme Bucharest is a new, modern, and well-maintained facility. It boasts a wide diversity of pools (including vitamin-enriched, jacuzzi, and various water attractions) available both indoors and outdoors, along with a good selection of waterslides for all ages.

The steam rooms were a highlight, particularly the complimentary salt scrubs and face masks offered several times daily. These popular amenities were available for the first 18 people, and guests should note that queues often began approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled time—a thoughtful and appreciated touch.

Food and Beverage
The dining options are diverse. As a meat eater, I found the selection to be above average ( with prices starting around 36 Lei for options like chicken curry with basmati rice, and up approximately 50 Lei for substantial meals such as large schnitzels with sides - in comparison a sandwich at Bucharest airport is over 50 lei)
I did not observe any clearly marked gluten-free food options, but vegetarian were available.

Positives:
Therme Bucharest truly has something for everyone, including waterslides, extensive outdoor areas, a range of indoor pools, and exceptional saunas. The 60-minute massages were awesome; I particularly recommend the herbal massage for those seeking relief during cold and flu season.

The reception staff and the team running Sauna Fest were competent and able to answer questions effectively. Additionally, the bar staff were professional and apologised for any service delays. The venue's location is great and easily accessible.

Areas for Improvement:
Hydration Station: The facility appears to be missing a standard free water/hydration station, which is a feature commonly provided in comparable wellness centers. When queried, staff members seemed unable or unwilling to provide a clear answer on its availability, which may indicate a need for improved staff training on guest inquiries.

Staff Politeness: The staff in the Elysium restaurant was not consistently polite.

Restroom Capacity: The current configuration of two female toilets in each spa section often resulted in unnecessary queues.

Lounger Management: A significant number of guests were observed reserving loungers with towels for extended periods without use. A clearer policy or more active management of this issue would improve availability for all guests.

Sauna Etiquette Enforcement: While staff diligently enforced rules regarding feet on towels and footwear in saunas, this repetitive instruction during each session suggests that improved, clear signage could effectively communicate these rules, reducing the burden on staff and minimizing visitor disruption.

I had fun - hoping to return for future sauna fest!

This will be an honest review not bad…

This will be an honest review not bad but honest because the hype surrounding this place is out of this world and to be fair it’s just not all that.

Firstly it’s not as clean as everyone makes out and I’m not talking about the saunas I’m talking about beds chairs and things that have high traffic for example the red light beds and the water massager beds. No cleaning stations or intervals where staff wipe down beds, they tell you to lay on a towel and I would do that anyway I just don’t feel that sufficient enough to be very hygienic or clean.
The showers were the worst for us absolutely filthy and if you want a real shower forget about it! No chance! The locker rooms and changing rooms are mixed so men and women share the same spaces I wasn’t to keen on that others won’t mind.

Staff on desks quite rude but inside the spa itself lovely.

Nothing is regulated and you have to fight to get a spot on anything I just think the place could be managed a bit better than it is to be fair. If you want a massage or treatment forget about it unless you get there super early to queue up and again no system nothing it was a complete mess.
Loads of saunas to choose from and they are very clean the lil intervals of different aromas and mini shows very nice if you can get in them.
We found the saunas to be the best thing in the place but there is no cold room and it’s quite repetitive once you’ve done it once or twice.
Lily waterfall room was nice I guess that might be a cold room type of thing?…
Only one steam room and it was small.
The water massage beds we really enjoyed actually possibly the best part of the day very relaxing however I do think it needs to be regulated by staff some people hopping off and getting back on even though there was a queue for them.

Same for the red light beds no regulation and just a mess.

We didn’t go to the slide section so can’t comment on that.

You do not need a full day there a couple hours are sufficient enough it’s gets long winded repetitive and boring after that because it’s just not that big or that interesting.

The food hall was like a cafeteria, food nothing special or nice to be fair i had a burger and it was edible, disappointed by the whole day if I’m honest.

So all in all it was ok very busy very much a fight for anything and everything not exactly clean (saunas were immaculate can’t complain about them) or relaxing it was an experience but not one I would like to do again!

The pool was ok they did some water exercise showed throughout the day for entertainment if that’s your thing. Mineral pool is tiny and always packed so we didn’t get to go in!

So all in all we won’t be going back and I wouldn’t recommend it unless chaos is your idea of a relaxing spa experience.

One Star

One Star — and that’s being generous

I honestly cannot believe the hype around Therme waterpark in Bucharest. This place is the definition of overpriced and overrated. For what they charge, you’d expect at least a decent experience — but no.

First off, there were no tubes available for adults, which pretty much defeats the whole purpose of having slides. What’s the point of flashy attractions if you can’t even use them?

And don’t get me started on the lifeguards. I understand safety protocols, but they were blowing their whistles non-stop like they were training for some sort of Olympic whistle-blowing event. The slightest hint of fun and — BEEP! — there goes your joy. It felt less like a waterpark and more like detention with chlorinated water.

To make things worse, the place felt dirty and poorly maintained. When you’re paying premium prices, the least you expect is basic cleanliness. Instead, you get all the chaos of a crowded pool with none of the charm.

Bottom line: Save your money. If you enjoy fun, relaxation, or value for what you pay — this is not the place for you. Therme is nothing but expensive disappointment wrapped in loud whistles and false advertising

Locație supraevaluata

Overrated location! The ticket price does not justify the facilities provided! Blasé employees, who seem to be doing you a favor when they serve you! Palm trees, mostly sunburned, dry, in front of the indoor pool! Cocktails are good and prices are normal for such a location. The food is decent, nothing special, prices are also normal! On the other hand, I saw more flies flying over the portions that were being prepared. The dish that I ordered was incomplete and I had to draw attention to it! Several slides were closed when we were there. There was no staff to provide you with information about what or why they happened to not work! At the outdoor bar, children were throwing themselves headfirst from the sunken chairs, making the experience of having a drink by the bar totally inadequate! The lifeguard seemed preoccupied with other issues.... The showers are rudimentary and water is being saved everywhere.....the sinks in the locker room area were not working. All in all, a location that wants to be top but manages to rise, at most, to the average level of a swimming pool in a provincial town.....

Such unrealised potential

Such unrealised potential. Beautiful facility spoiled by a complete lack of process and caring for the customers. They need to visit Wet & Wild in Australia to learn how to manage water slides. Too few inflatables and when a customer finally gets one they won’t give it up. There should be a staff member at the bottom of the slides enforcing passing it to another customer after each slide. Very poorly designed with confusing merging queues, ridiculous congestion and no signs explaining which lines are for double inflatables, single inflatables or no inflatables. Reception, access, locker and change rooms all very confusing with insufficient number of toilets - 1 for men and two for women but you may as well get used to queuing! Too few staff in the facility to help with questions but the ones I managed to talk to were friendly and apologetic as they know the system sucks. Forget about the 1600 metre slide it was not worth the wait. There were supposed to be 17 slides but I could only count 11. Better once we gave up and used the steam rooms, infrared lights and went through to the adult section and had a drink at the pool bar - by that stage a drink is a necessity!

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a…

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a spa. This is a public swimming pool with spa facilities such as sauna and steam.

I went at 6pm on a weekday because I had read it was quieter then.

Pros: lots of saunas and steam rooms and other mini pools.

Cons: The place was very busy and often difficult to find a decent space in the pools or jacuzzis and felt like I was at my local swimming pool and I avoid them at all cost. You have a mix of age ranges from young kids to adults.

A spa is meant to be a place of zen and relaxation. Therme plays really loud pop music and because of the amount of people it’s very noisy. I asked a member of staff if there was a quiet room to go and rest and was told only the saunas are quiet. Great I thought, I need to roast myself to get away from the noise. I left early due to a headache. I paid for 4 hrs and only stayed for 2.5.

There are 3 floors. The steam rooms are tucked away on ground floor amongst the kids pools. You have to walk through the huge kids section to actually find them otherwise you wouldn’t know they’re there. Very noisy and as a mother of 2 kids I don’t go to the ‘spa’ to be surrounded by screaming kids. The saunas are then all the way at the top floor which makes it tiring to keep going back and forth.

For anyone outside România (I’m from London) spend the money and go to a local spa in your country which will actually be a spa and place of relaxation. If you want to experience the Therme go to your local community pool or theme park.

There are also no private showers so you can’t even shower properly, just a quick rinse and go home in the pool residue and shower at home.

Treatment scam

I had a lovely time but was ruined by a scam they have so if you book a massage which price this at treatment reception is 200 Lei £34 but when you are charged it’s 369 Lei £70 the app says 369 Lei so if the price list would have said 369 Lei I would not of paid 369 for a very average massage! It is a scam so will not return.
