Rubbish spa experience
Went to the spa and booked in a facial treatment , my husband also booked a massage the lady who took the booking was lovely and gave us info, I informed her I had a bad neck . Went for my facial the girl who gave it was very rude and hostile making it a horrid experience to add to this she never asked any question’s or if I had any problems after having many facial’s I think this person didn’t know what she was doing , it’s such an expensive treatment so felt very let down , my husband came out of his treatment also feeling dissatisfied with the experience again he had a very rude masseuse. Don’t book any treatments it’s such a waste of money also noisy.
I wouldn't go here again
What was good
The saunas and the aufguss sessions were good.
It was pretty cheap.
What was bad
The spa opens at 0900. By 0930, there were no body massages slots available. There is also no way to book online. There are only 70 slots available, with daily visitors in the thousands. It doesn't make sense.
WATCH OUT FOR YOUR BELONGINGS. Many visitors, including my friend, had their items stolen. There is a rule that you cannot enter the saunas or the pool with any slippers on for example, so they must be left outside the saunas/by the pool, which is when items get stolen. Staff were EXTREMELY unhelpful in trying to locate these items, despite there being CCTV in the spa and when my friend had her slippers stolen, she was told, her items were her responsibility. They said they had found the person who had taken the slippers, then lied about it when more questions were asked, with them stating they couldn't check CCTV due to privacy laws. It wouldn't surprise me if they weren't in on the theft. Over the course of the day, many English visitors reported having their items stolen, with no help received from staff to locate. However, when Romanian visitors reported their items missing, they were miraciously found located.
The waiter who served us in the restaurant had a very bad attitude and was huffing and puffing whilst taking our orders and answering our queries. The food wasn't good either.
There is a limit of 600 Leu which wasn't communicated at check-in of the spa.
I observed some of the staff being very micro and passive aggressive towards non-whites and that was VERY clear.
This spa has definitely been hyped up via social media and you'd probably be better off going somewhere else. It may be the biggest, but definitely NOT the best.
Overall was a lovely experience
Overall was a lovely experience, go mid week as not too busy, we went Thursday got there early and had a pick of what sun lounger to claim for the day, we could walk around the place with ease, we booked our treatment however on the website all the treatments are on there, then on the day there are only certain ones on and we’re a lot more expensive than the one we chose to do but couldn’t. The robe hire was expensive it was more than getting in the place, so bring your own if you can, you’ll need one, or a towel, food is good, tie bar outside is nice, we had 38° heat it was mega hot, but the pool temp was lovely and so many to chose from, there are steam rooms, Sauna’s kids area, water slides, definitely a place to visit, we found uber taxi cheaper than bolt, but keep an eye on prices as if when it’s peak times it doubles in price
NOT SUITABLE FOR MUSLIMS OR PEOPLE OF COLOUR!!!!
I visited Therme Bucaresti yesterday with my mum, sister, aunt and cousin. We flew to Romania just for the day to experience the Therme Spa, unfortunately we had a terrible experience.
I would not recommend this place to anyone that is Muslim or people of colour, these people are super racist and here's the reasons why:
1) As we are Muslims we are required to wear swimwear which covers us (the Muslim burkini, as soon as we entered the place after changing into our Burkinis we experienced a lot of uncomfortable staring from people. At one point there were people recording us and laughing at us, to which my aunt had to intervene and confront them. They responded with they don't know what we are talking about and claimed they don't speak English.
Now this was just not at the Spa, we also experienced this high level of racism at the airport when purchasing drinks and snacks. The woman responde with "what" when we asked her anything, and "the price is there read it" when we asked for the price of items. In the Spa the staff were very unhelpful and did not want to speak to us when we asked them for directions. When we spoke to them regarding the people taking pictures of us they also responded with we don't speak English, which was a complete lie.
Also, another incident was when we were chilling on the beds, my sister asked a staff member to check the time as we didn't have our phones. She blatantly looked at us, ignored us and walked away. My aunt had to then raise her voice and say "excuse me" to get her attention. These people are not welcoming at all and they don't smile.
2) The pools are contaminated with alcohol. Inside the pools there are bars which people can purchase drinks with their wrist bands. People were drinking in the pools which gave the pool a very strong alcohol/ beer smell. People were very careless about how they were handling their drinks, and there was no freshness of the water as it has been contaminated with alcohol and urine. As it is a Spa pool, there was not an aroma or a relaxing feel, l am very aware of what this feels like as I go to lots of spa places.
3) Very limited Halal options in the restaurant. We asked multiple times for Halal options and all the staff again said they don't speak English and do not understand. Eventually one person managed to speak to us and we ate the vegetarian options of just chips, fried shrimp and halloumi burger. The food was actually quite good considering the limited options we had. The drinks on the other hand were mainly alcohol based and the workers at the bar were Muslim, an Egyptian man who gave us a disposable cup as he understood how we are feeling with the contamination of alcohol.
4) The changing rooms and toilets were mixed.
Although they were separated through the male and female symbols, people did not adhere to these rules as men were present in the women shower area. I understand these reservations from a non Muslim point of view but as a Muslim this made us feel very uncomfortable and we had to take turns in covering each other whilst showering just to make sure we are not seen or walked in on.
I hope this in-depth review helps people before making a booking. Also to add, we met two ladies of black ethnic descent who were also from England and have just come Romania for the day to experience the spa, and they also experienced similar vibes because of their skin colour. They asked their Uber driver who was a local Romanian man, why is it like this? Is it because we are British or black? And the man straight up replied with because you are black.
I hope this gives everyone an insight. Into how racist this country is, the people are very very rude, back minded and unwelcoming.
All the Muslims or anyone who is hyping this place on Tik Tok is lying and not giving the real experience. This place 100% is NOT Muslim friendly, I wouldn't even say it is kid friendly as there are a lot of couples openly engaging in intimate activities in the pools.
Had the best day
Had the best day! and the best massage ever! Highly recommend Christian, he gave the most relaxing massage, thank you 😁 he is credit to your team. We had the best weather and loved our day, we will be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
great water slides,superb food...
Everything was top tier
Everything was top tier, ive been to multiple spas in the UK and nothing compares, I thought i had an overcharge on my wristband when leaving & initially thought this is going to be drama but they were helpful and very polite the only issue overall but is really an Uber issue is that they do not pick up from this location so use Bolt.
WARNING FOR TOURISTS…
WARNING FOR TOURISTS…
if you book an uber to the airport from the therme there is multiple men stood outside that will accept the trip then walk away with you to tell you that uber doesn’t cover the airport charge cost so they will not take you trip, and that no one will. but then they say they will take the trip for €15 . originally the price on uber was 30RON, so £5, so they up the cost and you are also not protected by uber. This happened to us 3 times ae the uber wouldn’t cancel my trip so the men outside kept accepting then saying we had to pay extra money. in the end we got a BOLT that was 23RON (£3.82) and this dropped us off at the airport doors. DO NOT USE UBER THEY ARE SCAMMERS
Avoid at all costs
We visited Therme Bucharest twice during our trip. The first visit was decent, although it was extremely overcrowded. You really have to arrive as soon as it opens to secure a place to sit. The facilities themselves are impressive, with plenty to do, but the food wasn't the best.
We queued for one of the water slides and ended up waiting over 30 minutes. When the group of girls in front of us finally reached the front, the staff were unnecessarily rude and aggressive toward one of them because she was wearing a small anklet. They refused to let her on the slide due to their strict no-jewellery policy, which seems excessive- especially considering the "spa" requires guests to wear a wristband. It's frustrating to wait that long in line only to be told about these rules at the last minute. The staff then started laughing about her when she left the queue. When we left, there were no clear signs about where to return the towels we had rented, and no staff members seemed willing to help.
Despite the issues, we decided to return on our last day before a late flight. Unfortunately, this second visit was absolutely awful. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were being targeted. At the entrance, a security guard singled us out even though we had been queuing for 45minutes, forced us to open all our bags, and went through our belongings in front of a queue full of people. He found nothing, exchanged a look with another guard, and walked away- but the experience felt humiliating and completely unnecessary.
Once inside, the staff continued to be rude and unwelcoming. We felt like we were constantly being watched, almost as if we were criminals the entire time. At one point, we waited over an hour at the bar just to order a soft drink, completely ignored by the staff the whole time.
Overall, our experience at Therme Bucharest was deeply disappointing. While the facilities may look appealing, the way the staff treated us-particularly during our second visit-was unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money-it's not worth the stress.
Local taxi warning
Local taxi warning!
Brilliant time at the therme spa, May bank holiday weekend, got lucky with the 29 degee sunshine in Bucharest, arrived before opening and got bamboo massages totally recommend, korean facial not so much.
We read up on loads of reviews on the spa but missed reading up about taxis so dropping this here to save anyone the stress we had on leaving the spa after a really lovely day!
Basically DO NOT DO NOT USE LOCAL TAXI, use UBER or BOLT, or you risk being scammed! I'm sure there are some legitimate taxis out there but seriously not worth the risk.
The meters they use are rigged, what could have been around 20-30 Ron on an uber (which | checked) we nearly paid 150 Ron, if it wasn't for the driver being spooked by the police outside our hotel on arrival and me asking for a receipt we would have paid it.
We stayed at the Hilton airport hotel and paid 50 Ron a flat rate. The taxi did not have their meter on so likely another dodgy meter
After a great relaxing day at the spa this put a huge dampener on our day, maybe the Romanian tourism authorities should put a warning to all visitors. Really puts you off.
Waste of time and money, rude staff…
Went here last Wednesday evening for 3 hrs slot for first time. What they don't clearly tell you is your time starts at ticket counter and includes time there changing etc and shower changing on return. Also if showers or changing rooms are not available any waiting or searching time also is included in your 3 hour slot. Restaurant time also! When we left to return we were surprised they charged us for 12 mins extra!
Also inside queues are huge for the best slides. Overall it's a nice looking place, big with many facilities however their customer service is poor, they get annoyed and rude on any further query or discussion. I noticed though this was pretty much norm in Bucharest barring a few exceptions.
Glorified leisure centre
Glorified leisure centre. Don’t expect a spa experience. We arrived at 10am on a weekday, no treatments available, waited over an hour to get in the restaurant for lunch, no robes available when we arrived, no beds available all day (when I asked about this the manager told me beds aren’t included in the price) empty glasses and plates everywhere for hours with no one clearing them. The place was grubby.
Amazing experience
Amazing experience, is a clean place where you can feel in paradise, having fun and enjoy amazing time with family and friends.
Unfortunately, shit people from Pescara stolen the towels and they throw them away in the airport in Pescara( i have picture) . Shame on you .
Disappointing Experience
Disappointing Experience – Overcrowded, Unhygienic, and Loud.
I had high expectations for Therme Bucharest based on the rave reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
1. Blasting Music & Club Atmosphere – Starting at 6 PM, the Palm pool turned into a loud party zone with blasting music, completely ruining any chance of relaxation. If you’re looking for a peaceful spa experience, this is not the place.
2. Unhygienic Pool Conditions – People were drinking cocktails inside the pools, spilling drinks into the water, which felt very unsanitary. The fact that this seems to be tolerated is shocking.
3. Overcrowding & Long Queues – The facility was way too crowded, making it impossible to enjoy any of the amenities properly. The queue at the Thai restaurant was excessively long, and overall, the place felt chaotic.
4. Almost Impossible to Get a Sunbed – Despite the large space, it was nearly impossible to find a free sunbed, as people left towels on them for hours. This made it frustrating when trying to relax.
5. Cleanliness Issues – Despite being marketed as a premium spa, the cleanliness was subpar. The pools and changing areas did not feel properly maintained, which added to the unpleasant experience.
The only real positive was the beautiful palm trees and lush plants, which gave a nice tropical feel. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to make up for the rest of the experience.
Unless you’re a young partygoer looking to drink and listen to loud music in a packed, questionable pool, I would not recommend this place. If you’re seeking a genuine wellness experience, look elsewhere.
I’ve heard of people having issues…
I’ve heard of people having issues getting in despite having brought their ticket/pass online - with people even waiting 1.5 hours to be let in when others who hadn’t booked in advance were let in before those that had booked. Unfortunately I had booked my flight before knowing of these issues so I messaged the spa to clarify whether I should buy in advance and whether I should expect to wait for hours to be let in. On 9 February I messaged them and they responded on the 21st with a useless response. I asked for further clarification on 21 Feb and it’s now 28 Feb and they still haven’t bothered responding despite me chasing. Quite frankly after their poor service I have no desire to go to this place and may well adjust my plans. I have 2 weeks to decide.
It made me sick !!!
Rude staff. Over crowded. Place dirty. Food over priced and not good. Waited hour for table in the Thai and another for the food. I also got a severe eye infection from the water.. on antibiotics now.. eye started hurting the nt of the visit by morning I couldn't open my eye ! Uts been confirmed by my Dr its infection from bacteria often found in pool water !
Amazing Spa Experience with a Few Minor Hiccups
I had a lovely day at Therme—it’s truly an amazing spa, unlike any other I’ve visited. The amenities and activities were fantastic, and I’ll definitely be returning. However, I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of a few issues that need addressing.
While checking out, I noticed I was charged for items I didn’t purchase. I bought two frappuccinos, but the bill showed three, and there was also a charge for a water I never ordered. Since the wristband system automatically charges without showing or confirming the order, you’re left trusting it’s correct. I didn’t have the energy to wait in the long queue to dispute it, so I just paid, but that’s really not ideal. It would be much better if they allowed you to verify purchases before finalising payment.
The spa does get quite crowded later in the day from about 11:30am onwards, and while it wasn’t unbearable, it might be worth considering limiting numbers for a more relaxing experience as its very loud, crowded and then you end up having to wait around a lot to use some of the amenities. That said, arriving early at 9 am made a huge difference, and I’d recommend an early start to anyone planning a visit.
Now for the positives—the staff were great! I know some reviews mention rude staff, but my experience was completely different. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff couldn’t do enough for me, and one waiter even walked me to the machine to help top up my wristband. There was also a lovely lady by the treatment section, who I believe was a manager, and she was polite and accommodating. The staff walking around were approachable, and the lady running the Phy Health booth was so kind and lovely.
The absolute highlight of my day was the massage. I booked in with Anna, and she was truly incredible. I’ve had massages all over the world, but nothing compares to hers. She was so kind, friendly, and skilled—I actually found myself drifting off at times because it was just that relaxing. Anna’s technique melted all my stress away. Honestly, it was the best massage I’ve ever had!
Despite the minor issues, Therme is an amazing place, and I’d recommend it. I’ll definitely be back, and next time, I’ll just keep a closer eye on the wristband charges.
Racist
Racist, unprofessional and disrespectful member of staff andreea, how can you be so horrible to people who are paying for a service. She constantly spoke over me, all the members staff sided with eachother including the manager mihai, they did not know what happened yet they felt the need to express she has worked for 9 hours today, that is no excuse to be racist, unprofessional and unkind to paying customers, do not go there!
Really disappointing…
Really disappointing experience as per many of the other reviews. Waited an hour in the freezing cold in long lines of people to get into the building after pre-brooking tickets to then have to wait around another 30 minutes to actually get in once at the tills as they had run out of payment/locker wristbands. Staff were really rude and dismissive when around 40 people were going in ahead of our small group of 9 people as the wristbands coming back weren’t being shared out equally. We were told they were ‘tired’ and ‘we didn’t make them feel like they wanted to work’.
Once inside the building it was hugely overcrowded, actually dangerously so as we were having to pass large numbers of people on wet stairs and also the heat in the place due to the amount of people actually made a few of us feel dizzy and unwell when coming out of saunas etc. Couldn’t get anywhere near the massage or infrared beds as they were too busy, no treatments available, nor any of the experiences advertised due to the crowds. Our small group of 9, who had travelled from the UK for the day for our friends birthday, had to split up into smaller groups of 2-3 as there was no way we could get into any of the saunas/steam rooms/beds or anything together. Multiple staff also walking around telling people ‘no drinks’ in the rooms - not even water! ‘No feet’ on the beds in the saunas, ‘No phones’ in or take pictures -yet there seemed to be plenty of ‘influencers’ around taking pictures for their instagrams. Long waits for food and drinks and no drinking water fountains available. We also saw someone being picked up off the floor by paramedics - not sure what had happened but presumably they collapsed due to the heat in the building!
Such a shame as the actual building and facilities are beautiful and I would have happily paid double the cost to have a more enjoyable, actual relaxing experience with half the people. Came away feeling more stressed than when I arrived and worried for my health and hygiene with the amount of people in the building!
Extremely crowded
Extremely crowded! There is no any, any air ventilation.
