Oprichter Rolf van Zanten startte The Silver Mountain in 2008, tijdens zijn studie Commerciële Economie. The Silver Mountain was de eerste partij in Nederland die deze munten onder de margeregeling aanbood, een belangrijke stap, want dat maakte investeren in zilver voor het eerst toegankelijk voor particulieren.
Een jaar later, in 2009, werd Inkoop Edelmetaal gelanceerd. Een platform waarmee particulieren hun edelmetalen eenvoudig kunnen verkopen, mét real-time prijzen en vaste biedprijsgaranties. Ook dit was destijds uniek in Nederland.

For a festive opportunity my wife and I thought it to be a good idea of surprising our seven grandchildren with a bar of pure gold. We were able to find these online at the Dutch company "The Silver Mountain"and placed our order by telephone at a favorable price being guided friendly and effectively by one of their professional salespeople. Unfortunately we did not receive the product we thought we had ordered. The management without any research or discussion replaced the shipment, putting the price difference and logistic cost on their own account. The Company will be our first choice for future purchases of precious metals.

As a first time buyer of gold, understandably I was a bit nervous of the process and was lacking in knowledge. I found whomever I worked with in the company (I asked several questions of different people) were very patient and were not condescending. Everybody was more than helpful and professional.
