I received 4 gem squashes when ordering 1 kg of gem squashes.
I have ordered 1kg of small gem squashes before, and had over 14 squashes in the box.

Good morning, Natalie,
We must admit, your review has left all of us more than a little bemused.
You ordered a minimum of 1kg of Gem Squash and received four Gem Squashes weighing 1.13kg so you actually received more than you paid for. That part, at least, is not open to interpretation.
For some helpful context, the average Gem Squash weighs approximately 275g. We have weighed and dispatched more than three tonnes of them this year alone, so we have rather a lot of evidence and Gem Squash to support that figure.
You state that a previous 1kg order (From God only knows who) contained 14 Gem Squashes. That would make each one weigh an average of just 71g. We have looked through almost a tonne of our current stock and cannot find a single regular Gem Squash remotely close to that size. At 71g, they would most likely have been extremely immature “baby” Gems or perhaps an entirely different product, quite frankly we cant decide.
Our product description clearly states:
“A kilo is normally around 4–5 Gems, but you will receive a minimum of 1kg in weight.”
Your four Gems weighed 1.13kg, giving them an average weight of approximately 282g each almost exactly the average expected size.
You also refer to “small Gem Squash.” Perhaps this is where the confusion lies. Baby Gem Squash are picked very early and are roughly the size of a ping-pong ball. Regular Gem Squash, like the ones we sell and have only ever sold, are closer to the size of a tennis ball. Our listing does not advertise Baby Gem Squash, nor has it ever suggested that customers will receive 14 Gems per kilogram. Quite the opposite actually, our listing is very very clear in its description.
We have sold UK grown South African Gem Squash in season for many many years, and we have never encountered a properly developed Gem Squash weighing anywhere near 71g. If we did, it would not pass our quality checks and we would not be selling them.
To be absolutely clear: you ordered a minimum of 1kg, the listing advised that this would usually be around four or five Gems, and you received four Gems weighing 1.13kg. In other words, you received exactly what was advertised and described and an additional 130g for good measure (We always add a little extra when bought on line as getting exactly 1kg is virtually impossible normally 4 or 5 not and never anywhere near 14)
We are always happy to accept fair criticism when we have made a mistake. However, on this occasion, the product, quantity and weight were all correct. Unfortunately, an expectation based on a completely different product or some rather adventurous mathematics does not mean that we supplied your order incorrectly.

Best biltong you can buy at a good price!
Regular customer and I couldn't recommend this place more. High quality biltong at a good price. I particularly love the rosemary and garlic biltong and you can pick the level of fat you want. Even got a nice free pen in my last order. I always try to support smaller companies where I can and this place is the reason I do.
