Terrible
Terrible. I traveled from Prague to Vienna on June 16, 2024 and had a horrible experience. My friend and I purchased a ticket for 85 euro each, we were shocked to find no available seat on the train upon boarding. The staff onboard were so unprofessional and stated that “it is what it is” and laughed at us.
Plenty of people experienced the same is and ended sitting on the floor. I bet intercity trains in 3rd world country is much better. Take a flight or book a car, don’t use the train.
If I could give it -10 stars u would
If I could give it -10 stars u would ! We bought first class tickets from Vienna to Budapest and we were not given seats numbers . Half way though our trip people showed up with assigned tickets and we were forced to stand after we PAID for first class tickets ! Needless to say I'm calling my credit card company and getting my money back ... most disorganized stup*d s*t ever !! Shame on you for double selling tickets ! We could have chosen to fly for cheaper but wanted the experience , NEVER AGAIN !
Why bother?
In general the prices are way too high. They want us to take the train instead of the car or a plane but for which reason? Taking the train most of the time costs a extensive amount more than taking other means of transportation and they are delayed many times. My biggest complaint is, that no one cares about the customer. There's a good chance that you can ride a train without ever seeing a conductor/conductress so why even bother paying? And when you're on the train, there's an extremely high chance that people who are calling or watching stuff with loudspeaker are also there. No one cares... For the price, each wagon should have its own conductor/conductress who tells those stupid a**holes to shut their f**king phones or throw them out otherwise... There's no respect anymore and no one cares...
So unreliable
Booked on obb night train from Brussels to Vienna on 1st May. Train was listed on the display boards until 20mins before due departure when it disappeared. No tannoy announcement. Had to book an hotel in Brussels overnight and travel the next day. On our way back night train was 230 mins late departing from Vienna and 4.5 hours late arriving in Brussels. No real explanation just 'technical problems'.
WORST EXPERIENCE / we paid 110€ to have a bed and only had seats
We had reservations for couchettes on the Zurich-Ljubljana night train, but instead of the beds, we found out in the train that we only had very uncomfortable seats, where it was impossible to sleep ! Toilets were dirty, carriage was very old and not comfortable at all, staff was super rude…
Almost a year later, we are still waiting for a refund. We paid 110€ per person to have a worst night that we would have had on a flixbus… I don’t recommend this company, they sell tickets they are not able to provide, I know several people who had the same experience.

You pay 60 euros to go to Vienna from Salzburg and every second toilet is out of order. Overpriced for what you get
Everything went wrong
Everything went wrong. Our train to airport was horribly late (well over 2 hours), which caused us missing our flight.

Be extra careful when buying online tickets.
I bought tickets for my grandparents at your store. It was possible to pay an extra €10 to be able to cancel the ticket free of charge up to 15 days before the trip. They were happy to pay this price because my parents are old and anything can happen. We made reservation four months in advance. After purchasing the ticket, I found out that the ticket could not be cancelled because I had accidentally downloaded the PDF. After carefully reading the fine print, I found out that there is a rule the ticket cannot be cancelled when the PDF is downloaded. I feel cheated.
My elderly parents have paid EUR 40 for nothing (as the advantage of free cancel disappeared immediately after purchase) and there is a chance that they will lose almost EUR 400 if they cannot get on the journey, for example because of health problems.

Travelled from Venice to Vienna during the day on the 19th of April 2024. All good but the catering staff were incredibly rude and are clearly in the wrong job. I wanted to order food, made to feel like I had caused them a great inconvenience, they were abrupt, surly, sarcastic, argumentative, quite bizarre really. They need cancelling probably as they are clearly unhappy.

If you’re aiming to reach your destination promptly, I strongly advise against using ÖBB. During my journey, ÖBB unexpectedly canceled the train midway, leaving me to navigate an alternative route to my destination independently. Despite reaching out to ÖBB about this unfortunate experience, I never received a response. Overall, it was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing encounter. I recommend avoiding this carrier altogether. 🚆👎
The worst trip ever
The worst trip ever. U have 2 people reserveted cabis for sitting and they sleep there, why didn't thay take a ticket for the bed? Ot was not posible to make a reservations of seat but they sell U a ticket so u drive 9 oure on the flor of the hall.

Consumer service takes more than a day to answer. Then, they call you back, you are waiting in the line for further hours although they say you’re next in line. An absolute joke.
Hundreds of dollars lost because of a late train
We paid hundreds of dollars for my family of 6 to ride the OBB trains. We were on a scheduled train that made a connection to another train. The train ran late and it was physically impossible to make the connection as the train we were supposed to get on had already left when our train arrived. We had to jump on a different carriers train and pay separately for that. When I reached out to OBB, their response was, because it was only 5 minutes late, they couldn't give me a refund. 5 minutes late caused me to miss my other train... nothing I can do about it. This is fraud, theft, and morally unacceptable.
Great telephone (hotline) customer support
Been traveling with them for multiple years now with the night jet. When things don't go as planned, they always provide great phone customer service. They always try to work with you and even go out of their way to help you when they don't have to.
train cancelled, no refunds
OBB cancels trains or significantly changes departure times unilaterally without any notice then refuse to provide any assistance or refund.
The service is catastrophic (at least outside of Austria), I would stay away from this company as much as possible.
THE WORST TRAIN IN EUROPE
THE WORST TRAIN IN EUROPE! Very old trains from 80s, expensive tickets, power sockets not working, NO WI-FI!!! RUDE STAFF, LAZY! LIGHTS NOT WORKING, HAIR FROM OTHER PEOPLE ON THE BED, SHEETS ARE DIRTY!!! AVOID THIS TRAIN SERVICE IF POSSIBLE!!! Obb shouldnt offer this service because its embarasing for Austria!!!
Should be zero stars as it cannot be…
Should be zero stars as it cannot be called service. Trains cancelled last minute, agents at OBB counter do not offer any alternative to get to the final destination, and no reply from the customer service to a refund inquiry, they do not even give you a case number to be able to follow up the request.
