I wrote my name wrong
I wrote my name wrong, and as soon as I noticed, I tried calling them and sent 2 emails.
I wrote to them on 20-12-23, and I received a response on 18-1-24. Keep in mind, I'm leaving on 25-2-24.
After exchanging emails back and forth, I just wanted to know if it's possible to change my name. If they said no, I would have bought a new ticket immediately to benefit from the same price.
On the 27th of January, one of the workers said that it would not be a problem.
Now, on 13-2-24, another worker sent me an email suggesting I could try, but it's not a guarantee.
I informed the worker that one of the colleagues assured me it was okay, and if I had known this, I would have bought a ticket right away. Now, the prices are very high.
I asked if they could give me a discount so that I could buy a new ticket, but they told me it's not their fault.
Worst service ever
They kept canceling train after train. When you request a refund, they don't reply. After issuing a claim, they finally decide to get in contact with you. After they promised you to refund the full amount, there is problem after problem. In the meantime I'm waiting 2,5 months for my money and still don't have it. Its the most unreliable train service I've ever seen.
Wow! Do not do it!
Wow!
The glory days of night travel in Europe are gone!! In Austria anyways!! The OBB train from Vienna to Berlin was awful! One toilet out of order, another had no lights and though the wagon master looked, he had no clue! I had to stand and hold the door open for my wife so she could use the washroom! The beds are like stones and have an annoying slope, top bunk is short, and the compartment was super hot! Time to retire some of these wagons, as they are small, old and are down right garbage!
As an Austrian flagship rail company, it is a shame to offer such garbage to customers paying good money! Would not recommend!!!
The worst train ride of my life
The worst train ride of my life. Took the night jet from Amsterdam to Vienna before Christmas. Overbooked train, people not getting what they paid for and being shoved into a regular day wagon for 16 hours! No running water, no working toilets, rude staff that was not communicating the situation with us, neon lights on for the whole night which made it impossible to sleep. People sleeping on the floor.. train stopped in the middle of the night for more than an hour, no one gave us an explanation. Then in Linz, they just told us get off and take a different train to Vienna because our train was not working. I wrote two complaints asking for a compensation but didn’t even get a reply.
I took night trains in third world countries, but this was by far my worst experience ever! Don’t do this to yourself.
Non-existence service on train
I bought 1st class ticket because of work travel and because I needed to order a food. Their prices are way over the top compared to any other provider in my country, yet I wanted to order. Unfortunately the staff is beyond chaotic. I told them two times I would love to order when they will have time to come by, and they ignored me every time going around me. Also, they order food one person at a time, so it takes them extremely long time and most of the time they were going back and forth empty handed. I'm so disappointed, never again, ruined my day
The worst client service
The worst client service! I can not believe that nobody speaks English on an international railways customer service. The person who answered my call said "I speak English a bit" and when I explained what I need, she just hung up the phone!
Customer service 💀🤡
Really bad Customer service 💀 but they have some nice ticket dudes
Not a good experience
The train is clean, but the communication is not good. The train from Venice to a Vienna sat at the border for an hour. We did not know what was going on. The conductor made a brief announcement in German only, no English or Italian. We made it to our destination 30 min late, not bad, but annoying not to know what was going on. Also, the mobile app is not very intuitive and the mobile ticket is delivered to your phone just as the train arrives. Even ÖBB website is funky to navigate. I was traveling with a friend and after we boarded the train, the police made us get off the train and show our passports. I’m a Schengen resident, and my friend is from the US of African American descent. No one else was asked to deboard and show their passports.
AWFUL and APPALLING!
I gave 1 star because its not possible to give less. This is an AWFUL service. My father (almost 90 years old) booked a one person wagon lit with private bathroom on the way from Rome to Salzburg: no water in the bathroom. For a man who needs to go often to bathroom this was a major concern. However, he had no choice and decided to travel anyway. On the way back: booked a 3 bed compartment for almost 400 euro because wagon lit was not available. No shower, no private bathroom. And most importantly: no key. So he is compelled to go to the shared bathroom. The OBB AWFUL personnel assure him that they can let him back in the cabin when he is back from bathroom because THEY have the key. They do it once. After that they DISAPPEAR and when my father goes to bathroom at 1 am he is left locked out of the cabin for 2 HOURS. He was so desperate that he sat on the wc for more than an hour in the middle of the night after walking up and down the whole train in search of help. NOBODY was there to help. At around 3 am an AWFUL OBB woman shows up half dressed and with no apologies whatsoever lets him in the cabin. Last year on the way to Salzburg again he had almost 5 hours delay and - again traveling solo in a wagon lit- NOBODY gave him a coffee or anything to eat in the morning while this was included in the EXPENSIVE price he paid for that awful service. We complained and received OBB apologies. But now this is ENOUGH! Please do yourself a favor and avoid this absolutely appalling service which despises customers and treats them like ANIMALS. It is a shame to train companies and to Austria as a whole. Shame on you OBB!
No working toilets
I took the OBB sleeper train from Innsbruck to Amsterdam and it was horrible. Is this really the national railway system of Austria??? The couchettes are small and dirty, the staff is rude and unprofessional and above all there were no working toilets. Twelve hours of travel and only one functioning toilet 4 carriages away!!! The only available toilet was filthy and very stinky. This is totally unacceptable!!! The worst train journey I've ever experienced in my life. OBB is a disgrace
OBB overbooked the train after…
OBB overbooked the train after reserving seats. The aisles are clogged with people and not everyone has a seat. Probably my worst train experience between Europe and East Asian trains.
Rude female young caterer
Rude female young caterer who refused payment by card to a family. When another passenger addressed the issue, stating that she paid 5 min ago by card, the young caterer said " i meant there is no signal currently", which was not the case. All conversations took place in german. Travelling from Vienna Hbh to Graz, arrival at 17.33
Dear management of obb reilijet
Dear management of obb reilijet, do you understand that it’s not normal to have temperature in your trains that people in winter have to wear a t-shirts because it is sauna in wagons???
Double of the time.
In one travel three huge delays.
In one of these stops we were told to leave the train and wait for another one that, of course, was late as well. 3 hours travel became a 6 hours one.
Not the best experience.
Absolutely horrible
Absolutely horrible. Train got delayed for 3 hours. This can happen, but engines were shut off and no information was given why. No service was delivered. The people in the train were all left guessing with no option to leave the train. When I found a guy working on the train and asked him what's going on he replied "nothing" we are waiting for another part of the train. Could have left people with more "standard" service at least: inform the travelers and give them an option to get off
They charged me €300 and didn't give us ANY seat on a 10-hour overnight train
I wish I read the Trustpilot reviews before booking an OBB Nightjet train. They forced me to book an entire compartment because we are bringing my dog and when the train arrived, we didn't get the seat that we booked! In fact, we didn't even get a seat for our 10-hour overnight train because they put the wrong cart on the train and there was no space for people to sleep in. Such a scam! They take your money (really expensive too) and don't even give you a seat on a 10-hour ride! They dont refund you either. OBB is just a really b*llsh*t company. Avoid if you can!!

On the 16/08/2023 my train suffered a 4 hour delay. I missed my flight.
I had to stay overnight in Vienna, and was told to send the invoices of this overnight and re-booking to ÖBB, by their own employees. I was even directed to where I could stay overnight, near the airport.
I did as I was told, believing their lies.
I had to call 4 times now, to get an update of my status, only to find out today, that my case was closed, with no apparent reason.
I was never given any information in regard to anything. When asking for the reason, the child on the phone told me that there was none given and that she was not able to assist me any further. She advised me to re-fill another form (through the same way in which my first form had been sent). When I asked to talk to some superior to file a formal complaint, I was told to... fill in a form on the website.
Considering how it has gone so far, I'd say that this is pretty useless.
Horrible service, the customer service agents on the phone will happily hang up on you.
Don't fall for their 1st class online ticket scam…
Don't fall for their scam where they sell you a first class ticket online but don't give you a reserved seat number. If you don't get a reserved seat number then your first class ticket is worthless. When you get to the train they'll look at your ticket and send you straight to second class, but only after all the second class seats are taken. As I write this review I'm travelling on an OBB train with a first class ticket but one with no reserved seat number so I'm sitting on the floor between carriages.
And from my vantage point on the floor between carriages I noticed that the locked toilet constantly said "Occupied" but there was no movement. Eventually worked it out when a staff member opened it with a key, used it and then locked it again. The staff are using it as a staff-only toilet. Rude!
Reserved bed not on train, no full refund, no complaints process
It makes me so sad to write this - sleeper trains should be known as a great way to travel instead of flying. We had reservations for couchettes on the Vienna-Brussels sleeper, but the designated carriage wasn't on the train. Yes, seriously. The unhelpful guard said to go to the ticket office for a refund (not an option 10mins before departure!) or find a seat for the night. I've eventually (weeks later) had a 50% refund but OBB refuse to give any more, with no complaints procedure. I do hope they get their act together soon.
Why ÖBB services was the most disappointing
I cannot imagine any company being more irresponsible towards their customer than OBB. I had purchased a reservation for a night train. The train was cancelled and I never had a chance to use my reservation. I ´had the most awful experience and my travel was interrupted. When I asked them to refund the money, after about 2 months they just gave me a voucher (valid for 8 or 9 hours only!) to purchase sth else from their website. As mentioned in other comments I also believe that 1 star is too much for their services. I have not seen such awful and disappointing services from any company before!
