Wasted time....and money. Not quite sure it's worth it.
After struggling with poor-fitting glasses that slide down my nose and irritate my ears for years, I thought it would be worth the investment to get a custom pair of glasses.
I scheduled a Zoom appointment with an optician. They go over your measurements, recommend adjustments (like making the width narrower/wider, where they should sit on your face), and then price the frames and lenses out. To be completely honest - I almost fainted after they quoted me the price, but figured that it would be worth it, considering that a.) I wear them every day, and b.) not having to fuss with them a gazillion times a day. I asked if they were going to make a prototype or the glasses that I could try on/make adjustments to the fit prior to the actual glass being made, and, the optician was soooo sure - cocky, almost - that the company has gotten so good with this computerized virtual fitting that, the prototype was unnecessary, and assured that my glasses would fit perfectly.
It took about 5 weeks or so for my glasses to be completed. I was super excited to receive them, but that excitement dissipated pretty quickly. Upon putting them on, the top of the frames were at the level of my pupils - in order to see out of them, they had to be pushed up my nose. After doing this, the glasses slid down my nose. They were super loose on the back of my ears. The nosepads - skinny and supremely uncomfortable on my wide, flat nose bridge. All of these things were issues I had experienced previously, with glasses that had cost much, much less than these. I thought that, with these custom glasses, all the misery of my previous glasses would be forgotten. I was wrong. These honestly fit worse than about 75% of the glasses I have purchased "off the shelf" at a retail store. So much for being perfect.
I contacted them. It took a few days for them to get back to me. They sent me a video of how to bend the ear pieces back and in, to adjust my "custom", supposedly perfectly fitting glasses to my head and ears. If I am spending $700+ on a pair of custom glasses, I expect them to fit & perform as such.
I adjusted them as shown in the videos, wore them for a couple more days, and they were still sliding down my nose despite being incredibly painful and irritating to the backs of my ears. I wrote in again. Had to wait. Asked to take photos. Sent them in. Few more days. Sent in more photos. Eventually, it was decided that they were going to make a new pair.
Few weeks go by with no word. Write in again. Wait again. "Oh, we're talking with our design team. We'll let you know." This went on and on, and now we're seven weeks out from my initial contact re: my poor fitting frames, and, the new ones aren't even done yet. I've received absolutely no updates from them without having to reach out first. And their responses take absolutely forever. If they respond, that is.
I'm completely and absolutely over the hype and hurrah of this "perfect" eyewear. In the meantime, I'm still dealing with a pair of glasses that fit terribly, am constantly adjusting, cause pain to my head and ears, and rub my nose raw. I'm underwhelmed.
Perfect for petite faces
I have a petite face with a very petite nose. Except for one other eyeglass seller nobody makes glasses for someone like me. Wireframes up until recently were my only option and they always hurt, because they were never the right fit. Enter Topology--my very first acetate frames, and they fit perfectly. I've had two years worth of glasses from them, and it would have been three if not for the fact that I had to transition to progressives. They recommend your first progressives be from your doctor. Honestly, I wish I ignored it because the ones from my doctor sucked. From here on out I will only get my glasses from Topology.
Cheap lenses
Cheap lenses. The clear vision area was tiny. Costco is better, and has a lower price. I went back to my old glasses.
Bad fit!
Ok, i finally got my glasses after 7+ weeks but they fit horribly. Constantly sliding down my nose. I spent more than ever before, waited longer than ever before, and it fits worse than any other glasses before.
I wont be using Topography again.
Cute and lovely pair of eyewear
I got my new pair about a week ago and not only I but my colleagues in the office love it. It perfectly fits my face. Before topology, I visited so many opticians to buy a new pair and I had to compromise the fitting.
Topology idea is totally new and I know it is little skeptical for new users/customers and it was the same for me too initially but I thought to try as they offer 100% refund in case I do not like it.
I also understood that the company is new with the new idea as well which not one offers, so I as a customer also has to be patient somehow to cooperate with them as I was kind of impatient during the process from the video till the time I got the new pair. Finally, my dream came true when I had new pair.
Negative reviews on late arrival etc.. do not count much as it is the fault of the courier and admin matters do not affect the quality of the pair itself. They made it for me from the scratch and put time to think and figure out how can it fit me the best so I think my little patience and cooperation brought sweat fruit. Why not to wait a little bit as you need to see the world through your eyewear and the world will see you wearing the beautifully fitted eyewear which is made for your face only.
I can see and feel my pair of eyewear is made of not just high level plastic but love as an important ingredient to it.
Farrah has been in touch with me throughout the process in a very professional and helping way and I would mention her here as well
I wish good luck Topology and its team.

Tailor made glasses
I would have given 5 star rating but due to the delay in shipment, I would give it a 4 star so that they can improve better. Overall, I am very satisfied with my eyeglasses. It was evident that the eyeglasses was customized for me as the fit were right. I was nervous before I tried it on because I was afraid it wouldnt fit but I was wrong. One of my fave eyeglasses I have ever worn for sure. My other minor complaint besides the shipment delay was the case that came with it. I’d rather prefer a simple box rather than a triangular “figure it on your own” kind of case. Again, I am very happy with my eyeglasses and I cant wait to order more in the future.
SO SO HAPPY
Farrah, Natasha and Natalie are absolutely fantastic. The customer service is double a 10. IT’S a 20. I love my new glasses. I have always had to purchase kids glasses because of a thin face. Thank you the 3 + 1. I think Juan is who made my glasses. Kudos.

I love my Topology Glasses
I love Topology Eyewear. Eric and his team worked with me to custom designed 2 frames for my high diopter script of -21. I need a very small lens frame that not available anywhere. Topology was able to copy my favorite small lens frames that were breaking from age. The level of service and time spend making samples and small changes until the frames were perfect is exceptional. I love having frames that fit my face in the color I want. My new glasses are so light and sturdy, I don't need to push them up my nose very more!
I highly recommend Topology Eyecare to everyone. You won't regret it.
Finally a pair of eyewear that fits my face perfectly!!
My experience with Topology Eyewear was amazing! I just went through a terrible experience trying to get prescription eyewear through a local optician and through Oliver People’s, but every time my glasses would come in the frames would be used/bent, and the lenses were scratched and of terrible quality. To make it worse, the opticians were never able to fit the glasses to my face correctly, and I had to try to adjust the frames myself at home. I was quite nervous to try Topology at first, but I decided to give the app a try and went through the process without any expectations. I used an all white wall for my background for the video and I made sure my hair was not over my ears. I liked having the ability to adjust the size of my frames and choose whatever colors I wanted. I was provided updates through the process and the Topology team even took the time to expedite my order for me since I needed a new pair of glasses due to the problems I experienced elsewhere. I received my new glasses in about three weeks, and I have to admit I was extremely impressed off the bat. The presentation was awesome (they come in a neat little box with a microfiber cloth, unique leather eyewear case, and little bottle for eye lens cleaner). My glasses fit perfect, and I mean perfect right out of the box. I did not have to make any adjustments at all! I cannot believe how they were able to get my measurements so accurate by using AR from the video in the app, it’s honestly hard to believe! The lenses are also crystal clear and I feel as though I can see better than I could in my previous glasses, which had Hoya lenses. In short, I cannot say enough about how much I enjoy my new glasses and how amazing my experience was! Their customer service crew (Farrah, Natalie, and Liz) all provided exceptional service. I am so grateful!
Exceptional quality and customer service
From beginning to end, my experience with Topology has been fantastic. First, the app: it's so cool! Using just your phone, the app makes a detailed map of your face that allows the Topology team to custom craft your frames. Then, you play the waiting game, but they even make the waiting experience a top-notch customer service experience. The customer service team communicated with me regularly to let me know the status of my order. When I questioned the frame color I had chosen just a couple of days after placing my order, the team gave me advice and even sent me color samples to help me choose and revise my order. My frames arrived last week, and they were everything I had hoped they would be. So comfortable from the moment I put them on because they were MADE for my face. I think I'm spoiled now and will probably never be able to go back to non-custom frames!
Custom is awesome
I have issues with most glasses due to having Asian facial features. Topology worked with me through 3 prototypes and a change in style selection!
Took several weeks so recommend starting ASAP! Even if you don’t have your prescription yet.
Otherwise totally recommend!!
This company is genuinely committed to…
This company is genuinely committed to getting it right for you. In my case, (and I am a difficult case with a broken nose), it took some extra work and time on their part and mine, but they stuck with it and the final results are very good. They are light and comfortable and look the way I want them to. These are totally custom made, including prototypes, so do not expect your finished eyewear in two weeks. Mine took much longer.
Amazing service and product
Amazing service and product. With an Asian face, I've never been able to find a pair of acetate ("plastic") glasses that didn't brush up against my eyelashes and keep sliding down my face.
These are fantastic. I can barely feel them and they cling on tenaciously.
It took them a number of tries to get it right, but they were always happy to keep trying.
Nice concept, terrible execution
Took almost two months to get first prototype - at that rate, considering it didn't fit my face or look like the "virtual fitting" at ALL, getting a final version could have easily taken a year or more. Got a full refund immediately, within a few hours of contacting about my dissatisfaction, so it seems they're well aware of what a poor job they're doing. Would not recommend to anyone.
Wear glasses
Wear glasses? Do yourself a favor and check out @topologyeyewear: custom manufactured eyeglasses that honestly and truly fit and a feel 100x better than anything else I’ve ever worn in my ~28 years of wearing glasses. Game changer. The only way to describe them: these are glasses that seem to float on your face. Tons to say about them but 1) I’m in no way affiliated (but am getting to know their team as a super fan of their product) 2) they cost about as much as a nice pair of stock glasses 3) the whole process takes 4 to 6 weeks to design, prototype, manufacture, and ship 4) it’s surprisingly fun to use their app to build a detailed 3D model of your face and then infinitely customize your glasses 5) everything is 100% designed and manufactured in San Francisco 6) they are a true startup so don’t be surprised if you encounter some hiccups along the way... their team is a pleasure to work with and beyond helpful 7) not only do they look great, but you’ll actually see better because your prescription will be more accurately aligned to your pupil. Ok. That’s plenty. Let me know if you check them out. 😎
Expensive waste of time
Took forever and glasses are wrong prescription and seemingly wrong color. Waate off time and money.

Happy customer in the UK
I live in the UK and I'm sick of having my glasses continually slipping down my nose. I was curious to try this company to see if what they claimed was true. They are not really available outside the USA yet, but if you email them they have a way to sell internationally. The glasses took longer than expected to arrive but when I opened the package, all I had to do was tweak the nose pads a little and tweak the arms by hand slightly to achieve a comfortable fit and NO SLIPPING AROUND. Brilliant. Mine is a progressive prescription and one huge difference is that I no longer have to tilt my head back to look at my computer screen, which is saving me daily headaches.
My glasses turned out just as I…
My glasses turned out just as I expected. They are light-weight, look great and are probably the best progressive lenses that I have ever had.
Fantastic that the fit was so good from…
Fantastic that the fit was so good from a virtual measurement!! I have a very narrow face and it is not easy to find frames that fit.
I wish the process was a little quicker but I believe the quality of the frames was worth the wait.
Also it would have been nice, after having determined my right size, to be able to actually try several different shapes on before deciding on one.
The prototype was good for fit but the black was so harsh I started to have second thoughts as I couldn’t imagine the actual final color on my face. I don’t know if the small sample of the final color in the prototype box was polished as it looked dull and I thought it was not the same color I saw on line. When I recieved the final result, it was the color I saw on line. Very nice shine.
I did not order my prescription in the frames and decided to bring to my eye doctor instead because I recently had an exam and they have my prescription (and last time there was a problem getting the progressives just right). Figured they already know how to get it right and I didn’t want to complicate my Topology order. Maybe next time I will also order the lenses from Topology.
I was a little disappointed that my credit card was charged for the final cost before I received the final product. (Not just the $10 deposit.)
The customer service rep (Natasha) was quick to respond to questions and very helpful.
I would definitely recommend Topology and have already told lots of people about it!
