A triathlon even scheduled for September 2021 was postponed. Initially I agreed to transfer my payment to a new date but after 6 months a new date hadn't been identified. I then asked to use my credit in the online merchandise store. I received 2 items but 1 didn't fit. I returned it and asked for a different size. They didn't have it in the same colour so it was agreed that they would contact me when they had more in stock. I have had to chase this up several times over email, each time being told it wasn't available and promises that I will be informed within a certain timeframe. No responses. I contacted them on Facebook. No response. I contacted them on Facebook Messenger and it was agreed for a different product to be sent to me. Communication went dead. Weeks later, after more chasing up, they agreed to post the item to me the following day. A week later it hadn't arrived. More chasing up. I'm now being ignored. It is so frustrating to not be able to communicate with Tough Runner, and they still have my money. What do you do to get your money back, to which you're entitled?

I have run a few Tough Runner events in the past and have recently marshalled the Bristol Epic 10k. Great event, very well organised on all fronts and I really recommend marshalling if you can’t run yourself.

I had signed up for the Penarth duathlon last weekend but didn't feel I was ready to do it. Adam was looking for marshals so I asked them to defer my place and in return I marshalled for them. I really enjoyed it. A well run event with good organisation and supportive atmosphere. I am looking forward to doing it next year as a participant. Thanks both and see you again soon.

Really enjoyed this event, I’ve been to a handful of tough runner events in the past couple of years and really enjoyed this one. My first event back from long covid and having a year off. The team as always were helpful and available.

Lucky for us the sun was shining and was a great event to come back to. The atmosphere was friendly and supportive which is always awesome to see.

One issue I had with the event was the bike route. Even though it was explained in the briefing. The two loops around the roundabout in sully caused a lot of confusion for other athletes. Watching people short cut the course is never nice, even if it is accidental.

Hope to be back to another events soon.

My husband has run a number of events organised by tough runner - we haven’t had any problems and he really enjoys the courses - i have marshalled a few events and never had a problem.

I took part in the Swansea Trail 1/2 Marathon on 01/04:23 and what a fantastic event it was!

Car parking was easy and registration was quick and smooth with no issues at all. All the staff in registration were very helpful and friendly too.

There was music playing around the start/finish area before the event which created a good atmosphere.

The course itself was exactly what everyone expected…TOUGH! A great route which was well signposted with arrows and also some Marshall’s too.

There was water stations as well on route which was definitely needed due to the tough terrain.

A brilliant finishers medal was presented at the end, along with free protein bars, bananas, water and alcohol free bet & IPA!

It’s an event I’ll definitely be returning to next year and look forward to many other Tough Runner events through the year too!

Just come back from the Tough Runner Cotswolds weekend. (Yep, I did all three! Crazy I know)
Probably done about a dozen TR events and have found the are always well run, from management to Marshalls and there is always someone at hand to answer questions if needed.

The races always have a friendly atmosphere, can't wait to take part in more events this year, maybe a triathlon...

Very well organised event, marshalls were plentiful and everything went to plan. Adam is very responsive and the whole team were great at Oxwich after the recent Trail Half Marathon

My partner has been taking part in races run by Tough Runner for some time and has never had any issues, even through the pandemic. I have volunteered as a marshal, as I'm there already spectating so I might as well do something constructive, right? There have been no issues on that front and I would continue to recommend and support Adam and his team

I entered the Glasgow tri due to take place Aug 8 2021. The event was cancelled on the evening of August 7th after everyone had travelled down and paid for accommodation citing weather warnings which had been in place for several days before hand. Since then I have been told to expect a new date with no concrete date set but vague promises of when they hoped it would happen. Nothing has ever been reorganised so I asked for a refund which I was promised at the start of February. Since then I have received no further replies to my messages and no money. Joke of a company with terrible communication and run by cowboys. Would avoid.

EDIT: Finally got a refund after consistantly messaging them and writing this review. They even threatened to withhold the refund until I removed this review! Never in my life have I experienced such unprofessionalism. Still - Avoid.

Sadly writing this review as being dragged along for a refund. As others have said, the glasgow triathlon was cancelled and no new date was set. After almost 2 years, i reached out for a refund. I tried via facebook messenger who asked me to email them. I emailed and they took my bank details to give the refund. That was almost 2 weeks ago. Being dragged along via facebook messenger now saying they will do it but they never do. Do not use this company and find an alternative organiser. Crooks.

Terrible company stay clear. The triathlon event I booked to do got cancelled due to weather which was fine. But over two years later they have not rescheduled the event and after many emails they confirmed i would get a refund but have not gave me anything. I would advise against any dealing with tough runner.

DO NOT give these people your money. I have been waiting on a refund for an event that was cancelled and never rescheduled again. Adam and naomi are the two people who I have been dealing with on trying to get MY money back. Cowboys!!!

Still have our money after cancelling the event! Torquay Triathlon May 2022. Been reading the other reviews, how is the company allowed to operate! They make a fortune on taking money and then cancelling events for no reason... Promised refunds from both Adam and Naomi but never pay. We have had numerous promises to pay and then silence. How do we get hold of these people? Anyone had any success?

Do not give them your money! Glasgow Sprint Triathlon didn't go ahead and a year and a half later, no communication or new date for the event and no chance of a refund. It wasn't cheap and it was sold out so think how much money they've pocketed hoping everyone will just forget about it.

You can contact them but it'll do little good as they'll just refer you to their T&Cs. - no refunds. I have had plenty of other events cancelled in recent years and all were able to either refund or rollover the event in a reasonable timeframe - often they give you the choice. So this is not the norm and these races have insurance to account for cancellation so I've no idea what Tough Runner are playing at.

It's extremely poor and shocking behaviour and I will continue to spread the word to all my tri and running buddies to avoid them like the plague

I wholly concur with every word in the other reviews. I entered Edinburgh Triathlon which was mysteriously cancelled. Transferred to Glasgow Tri 2021 which was cancelled due to lightening (admittedly legit) but 2 years in Glasgow Tri is still TBC. I decided to try and cut my losses and swap my £69 for 2 technical tops. After a very efficient exchange of emails with Naomi who seemed very pleasant and ended with "we'll put the items in the post - lave a lovely weekend" then nothing. Emailed repeatedly and now stonewalled. Just a bunch of crooks - avoid like the plague. I will be writing to the STA, BTA and SAAA to say these folks don't deserve to be granted licences to hold a race.

Update: It turns out Naomi was on holiday and only works part time hence the delay. Refund was processed today which I am most grateful for as the degree of uncertainty on whether I would get what I had paid for was proving stressful.

You’d like to think you would come up with your designs?! You’ve literally copied another companies and chucked your name at the top!

I’m surprised the other company isn’t going to sue you for copyright infringement!

As you can tell from all the bad reviews, this company is cutting corners in every place possible!

I would avoid spending your money with these guys and use a company that won’t cancel an event last minute, doesn’t copy another company, gives you a refund if an event is cancelled and I can go on and on!
