Trama Textiles is an autonomous textile cooperative and school run by Indigenous Maya women in the highlands of Guatemala. Our cooperative of over 100 Maya weavers was founded in 1988 in resistance to the Guatemalan Civil War (1960-1996). The war was a recent civil and economic crisis that devastated the Indigenous communities of Guatemala and forced many people into a debilitating cycle of neocolonial poverty. In an effort to break this cycle, Trama Textiles provides fair wages in sustainable revenue streams to Maya artisans for their art. Our unique art and approach utilizes traditional practices and ancestral knowledge to make products that meet contemporary needs.

Great Tools
The loom and the tools I was given were of excellent quality to create fabric. It arrived promptly and with no missing pieces or broken parts. I am eager to use this to continue my study of backstrap weaving and connection to my Guatemalan heritage.

Loving this well constructed fanny pack.the seams are covered and dubble stitched. The hand weaving is beautiful and the fanny pack is spacious enough for my phone to fit. My only suggestion is that it could be more generous with the strap. It just makes it arround my waist. I'm sure there are many who would need it longer. If I'm wearing a sweater it's a bit tight.
The shirt I got for my husband. Once again beautifully constructed. The fabric feels nice, but I can't tell if it's cotton, linen or a mix of something else. There is no material tag so I guess I'll wash it in cold water and hang to dry.

Absolutely beautiful pieces at great prices! Shipped quickly too, just a heads up that you may have to pay some additional duties importing to the US but well worth it.

I really loved the pieces that I purchased! I would have ordered more but unfortunately it was not in stock. I didn't realize that until all of their stuff is sold they're not allowed to make more. That is unfortunate for them.

I was motivated to make the purchase of the tote after viewing a short film about Trama and the community of women in Guatemala that create & repurpose these textiles. I am grateful to have one of these totes- the size is perfect and when I wear the strap across my body, the tote hugs me perfectly. Thank you and much love to you all.

Friendly staff & beautiful item
The folks at Trama textiles are lovely and reached out personally when DHL had an issue. The item I ordered is simply beautiful.
Bare minimum + price currency not clear (dollars, ok, but which ones?)
Prices displayed in $, but which one? US$, CA$, AU$? It's really misleading. Once purchased, no email to let know of shipping, no link to a carrier. When unwrapping, no card, not a simple piece of paper with a few words, or a postcard of the social enterprise. Wow... It's the bare minimum. That being said, textile is gorgeous, despite some imperfections in the finish (knots, threads hanging).
