Trama Textiles is an autonomous textile cooperative and school run by Indigenous Maya women in the highlands of Guatemala. Our cooperative of over 100 Maya weavers was founded in 1988 in resistance to the Guatemalan Civil War (1960-1996). The war was a recent civil and economic crisis that devastated the Indigenous communities of Guatemala and forced many people into a debilitating cycle of neocolonial poverty. In an effort to break this cycle, Trama Textiles provides fair wages in sustainable revenue streams to Maya artisans for their art. Our unique art and approach utilizes traditional practices and ancestral knowledge to make products that meet contemporary needs.

I was charged out in US dollars not AUD
The items themselves are as advertised exactly, finely made and beautiful, but the prices were not as advertised. I have accepted that the rate is always in USD, but I am not happy with that.

We use an automated third party platform to process our orders and payments, so we do not have full control over which currency the product is billed. I believe it also has to do with your bank preferences. If you provide us with a Screenshot we will investigate to prevent this from happening again or at least to be misleading to the customer service.

Love the colors and texture

Lovely pieces, but needed cleaning before wearing
The pieces that I bought were lovely and well made. They did smell, so I had to get them dry cleaned before wearing. The smell was a combination of stale smoke and a mustiness.
