Royal Caribbean and Aon travel insurance

I BOOKED A 12 DAY CRUISE ON ROYAL CARIBBEAN FOR MY HUSBAND AND I IN APRIL 2023 FOR A CRUISE THAT LEFT DEC 6. 2023. ROYAL OFFERED AON TRAVEL INSURANCE SO WE TOOK IT BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAG COULD GO WRONG. WE HAVE NEVER HAD TO USE IT IN THE PAST. THIS TRIP HOWEVER, WE CANCELLED IN NOV 2023 BECAUSE OF A MEDICAL REASON. WE SENT ALL DOCUMENTS TO AON VIA FAX AND THEY CLAIMED THEY NEVER RECEIVED IT. WE WERE GIVEN 2 DIFFERENT FAX #'S. I THEN WENT AHEAD AND ASKED MY DOCTORS TO FORWARD MY MEDICAL RECORDS TO AON. AON CLAIMS THEY RECEIVED ALL DOCUMENTS EXCEPT FROM THE DOCTOR THAT EXPLAINED MH NEED FOR C-SPINE SURGERY. WE ARE NOW AT THE END OF AUG 2024 AND I'M NOW GOING BACK AND FORTH OVER AON LYING AND SAYING THEY STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE MEDICAL RECORDS THAG PROVE MY CKNDITION AND NEED FOR SURGERY. IF YOU CRUISE THROUGH ROYAL CARIBBEAN, DON'T TAKE THE TRAVEL INSURANCE IF IT'S AON. SEEK INSIRANCE ON YOUR OWN. I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH AND CONFIDENCE IN ROYAL CARIBBEAN BECAUSE THEH REFUSE TO HELP ME. SHAME ON ROYAL CARIBBEAN AND AON FOR RIPPING OFF TRAVELERS!!! I WAS FOOLISH ENOUGH TO THINK ROYAL CARIBBEAN WOULD HELP ME IN ANY WAY. ALL THEY DID WAS TELL ME I HAVE TO DEAL WITH AON ON MY OWN. WITH THAT BEING SAID, ROYAL CARIBBEAN HAS $2700 OF OUR MONEY AND WE CAN'T GET ANY OF IT BACK.

This company is a SCAM impersonating as…legitimate travel insurance firm.

This company is a SCAM impersonating as a reputable travel insurance firm. My wife booked a trip through a well-known travel agency in June this year (2024) for a trip in April 2025. Based on the travel agency's recommendation, she paid Aon $2,600 for travel insurance for this trip in 2025.

In August 2025, she realized she didn't want to go on this trip next year. As a result she filed a claim with Aon Affinity trip insurance for a refund of the $2,600.
It was denied being based on a unapproved reason.

She paid $2,600 for insurance for a trip 10 months in advance. A little over a month later she decided to cancel the trip.

How does her reason for cancellation have anything to do with receiving a refund? What right does the insurance company have to deny a refund based upon her reason?

She received no value for this $2,600 insurance. Aon incurred no costs or risk based upon her cancellation. This firm is a SCAM.

Don't fall for Aon Affinity masquerading as a legitimate insurance provider. It's a SCAM.

Aon is the poster child for buyer…

Aon is the poster child for buyer beware. We booked a cruise with Virgin Voyages in May for a December cruise. Unfortunately we have had to had to postpone that trip. They only allow 10 days from date of purchase to request a refund so as a result they will not refund this insurance for a trip not happening more than 4 months in advance. Lesson learned.

AON very deception & Criminal business…

AON very deception & Criminal business practices. I booked my Carnival Cruise with agent Tamara Saenz this woman misled me regarding the travel insurance. She told me the insurance was strictly being offered by Carnival, she also stated on my recored line that I could cancel at anytime for any reason. Tamara misled me about a number of things regarding my cruise . She also told me I could add another person at a cost of $99 . I found out that was a lie as well . I have no desire to ever cruise with Carnival due to there terrible business practices. Moving forward as to the other reason I cancelled my cruise . Injuried my back , be h and left shoulder . This injury would not allow me to cruise next year. So after I cancelled my cruise on 07/25/24 I contacted Tamara and over course she was all of sudden unavailable. I then spoke with Cortney about cancelling my cruise , this is when I was made aware of this travel protection company called AON , prior to me cancelling I had no knowledge of this company . I contacted AON and was told by Rex I could cancel to file a claim I would receive a refund. If my reason followed AON protocol. A red flag went up immediately. I filed my claim and was denied , I went to my Doctor he found out the necessary medical documentation. I received an answer from Aon Stating the doctors note is unacceptable and they denied my claim. I will be filing a civil suit today eighth 2024 against.AON And Carnaval, it is my belief that they are working in concert consumers of their money behind bogus propaganda lies, be held accountable for refunding money. I have no desire to ever cruise car again because of the terrible business practices they are untrustworthy and they are liars and will prevail against carnival and Aon . Advise consumer that has been taken advantage of by carnival and AON to civil suit, do not let these people get away with this. This is a crime in my opinion.

If I could give this company a negative… AON SUCKS

If I could give this company a negative one star I would. They do not pay you the claim amount and never call you back when they suppose to. They even put the wrong name on the check with the wrong amount… My mom died 6/1/2024 and I made them aware 6/14/2024 to get a refund for a cruise we were going on 6/27/2024. They sent me $70 with a name on the check of a person we don’t know. I paid for the trip and the insurance but they want to send it in the name of my mom’s estate. That’s fine but send me the full amount. I was charged an extra $70 to have another adult go into the room that was on the ship (my mom was rooming with my minor daughter) so they charged me to add an adult that already paid for their cruise to go in the room with her. I am fine with that but you owe me $70 plus the amount i paid for the trip. I didn’t bring an additional person but a person who was on the trip just moved in the room with no refund. So where is my money? It is now August and no update and no one talks to me.

I booked a family Disney cruise Alaska

I booked a family Disney cruise to Alaska with 11 family members. I purchased the AON insurance thru Disney. My son had to cancel for medical reasons. He provided a drs note stating he was unable to fly due to his hip and back injury. Our trip was booked on 6/25/23 for travel on 8/3/24. We purchased the ins on date of booking. At time of cancellation I was told policy started on 4/3/24 though I purchased it on 6/25/24. Why was it not in effect for date of purchase ? Apparently Disney doesn’t have AON provide coverage until the final payment for the cruise is made .any condition that occurred before 2/3/24 would not be covered it would be considered preexisting and denied. My son’s back condition was treated in March and was stable until 7/22/24. So it was a worsening of a condition which was stable when policy was purchased. Both Disney and AON insurance are very deceptive and pass the blame back and forth to avoid responsibility for their deception.

I booked an Alaska cruise and my agent…

I booked an Alaska cruise and my agent had me get Aon insurance. The really bad part is I had an UBER scheduled for pickup at 3:40 am and they never showed. So never got to the airport or the ship and now I am messing with AON to get my money back for the cruise and air and its been over a month.

they say jump and you ask how high

Purchased insurance with AON for a cruise. It was more a peace of mind thing rather than actually for seeing a need. Well, as luck would have it my sister, who was my travel partner caught a severe case of flu and required medical attention. The ship doctor was wonderful and after several days of treatment and isolation she recovered however the cost was approximately $10 k. The ship did the initial filing so the cas was.opened prior to disembarking. AON advised her primary medical needed to be filed and AON would wait to response from them. The response was.received and.forwarded to AON. AON required additional information so the additional information was forwarded. Not good enough. So a 3 way telephone conversation was completed between AON and her medical insurance provider. Additional info was requested again. Neither my sister or her medical insurance provider can figure out exactly what they are requesting. Another 3 way call completed and AON was provided all documentation requested for the 3rd time Now another email is received stating they have not received the required documents, yet.during the recent 3 way AON stated they had received everything and would be processing the claim.
There is something terribly wrong with AON. I do believe they do not intend to ever settle this claim.

AON Affiniy was the only travel protection offered by the cruise line.

AON Affiniy was the only travel protection offered by Regent Seven Seas Cruises and we bought it for our January 8-24, 2024 panama canal cruise. When I became sick the Regent medical center gave me excellent care that cost 3100.00. It should be covered by the insurance policy. Over the last 3 months I have sent the documents they requested 3 times. Finally AON confirmed receiving them May 16. However when I called for an update they asked for more time to review. It's very
straightforward-- my illness in a foreign country was covered by the policy. It is also frustrating not to be able to speak to anyone with authority.
Please, people, read reviews! Our mistake to trust the cruise line's insurance selection and not read reviews.

AON insurance is the worst ever, purchase elsewhere!

My husband booked a cruise on March 31, 2024 for 3 people, which is scheduled 4 months from now, in September of 2024. We always pay for travel insurance thinking it would protect us from ANY circumstance that may occur. In May of 2024, we attempted to cancel our son due to a conflict with his school schedule. You would think we have allotted enough time to cancel, however, AON's travel advised us they won't cover our cancellation that they only cover issues that occur prior to our trip such as a death, illness, car accident, primary residence uninhabitable, bankruptcy or default of an airline or cruise line. What is even the point of having the insurance? Would NEVER, EVER, buy from them again or recommend them to anyone. They have the appearance of a scam!

BUYER BEWARE!! I would give a zero if I could

I would give a zero if I could. Avoid this predatory company at all cost. They do NOT honor claims. When we purchased the insurance while booking, we were given general info about what they cover like medical, death etc. No, they don't cover those things. Be very careful if you use this company. They also take advantage of 1st time buyers. It was our family's 1st cruise and it's been a horrible experience dealing with them. Absolutely horrible wr are out over $1500. We got zero dollars back from them after purchasing their fraudulent insurance. Zero.

They have had related lawsuits and a class action suit. There are numerous complaints out there about them. Predatory. Avoid them at all costs.

Hopefully, this will help others, to not get taken by this company.

Do not buy travel insurance from Aon Affinity Trip Insurance…

Bought travel insurance from Trafalgar they used Aon. We went to remote areas in Chile, got sick with Covid. Aon refused to pay for hotel after 2.5 hour taxi ride to get to hospital as they say we checked in before the hospital said we had Covid even though we self tested. Also, they refused to pay for a taxi to get us to plane 2.5 hours away to fly home after quarantine. Their fine print says they do not pay for taxis only common carriers. Everyone in the world considers a taxi a common carrier. With no other option to get to the airport we were stuck. Trafalgar tours dropped us on diagnosis. We travel extensively and frequently and will NEVER use Aon again. We spoke to several reps and supervisors asking for reconsideration due to the remoteness and extenuating circumstances. The last supervisor said she would lose her job if she was flexible. What a poor company. Do not use them. The contract is very misleading so you think you have coverage and do not on nitpicking obscure details and ridiculous exclusions.

They are the WORST

They are the WORST. I got Covid on a trip to Italy and missed most of the trip. I had to pay for hotels, food, taxis, and the doctor. I missed most of the tour. They didn't cover more than $150 a day in Florence? I couldn't get a hotel there for that much and I was so ill. They made me jump through hoops for 7 months before they paid anything. I had to submit to Medicare even though it was clearly stated that Medicare would not pay for a doctor visit out of the country. Then they made me submit a claim to my secondary insurance who clearly stated they would not pay a dime if Medicare didn't pay. What a waste of time. They knew it from the start, but I still had to submit and wait months to get the rejections. It has caused me so much anxiety and frustration. Never buy AON insurance.

Total Rip Off - Don't Buy Their Trip Coverage

I took a cruise on 3/3/24 and purchased the vacation protection thru AON in the event me or my guest were unable to go on the cruise (because it had been booked since 2020), anything between the time I booked it and the time of the cruise could happen which is why I paid for the protection. Well turns out I learned that my guest was unable to attend, so I had to find someone else to join me on the cruise. In doing so Carnival charged me $229.00 because my original guest was unable to make it (made no sense to me, but I had to pay it). Carnival advised me to turn in a claim with AON for a reimbursement of the charge. I contacted AON and was provided with a REF# and I was advised that there was nothing they could do for me. I advised them that I paid for the cruise protection plan and I was requesting that they provide me with the protection that I willing paid for. Although the Rep. was polite, she was unable to award coverage. I have no idea why Carnival is doing business with them. Had I read the reviews I would not have purchased the vacation protection coverage. A total rip off, next time I won't pay for the coverage (I cruise annually). AON will not get another opportunity to deny me the coverage that I paid for (NEVER). They can improve by providing the coverage that they sell (by paying claims). Buyer Beware!

The absolute worst

The absolute worst. Had to cancel a trip/cruise for an illness that happened right before the cruise. Submitted all the medical documentation showing there was absolutely no safe way to make the trip as scheduled. Completely denied. What is even the point of having the insurance? Would never buy from them again or recommend them to anyone.

I purchased AON Travel Insurance for a cruise. While on the cruise, I got sick, so I went to the clinic on the ship and asked to see the doctor. Twice I was told that my respiratory infection was not serious enough for the doctor to see me. I was given medications. I saw my doctor immediately after arriving home.

AON has denied my claim as I didn’t see a doctor for my medications.
