Total Waste of Money, Avoid as much as you can

My recent experience with AON Travel Insurance left much to be desired, to say the least. Unfortunately, my encounter with this company mirrored the experiences of many others, as evidenced by the plethora of negative reviews online. In short, AON failed to uphold their end of the bargain, leaving me stranded without compensation when I needed it most.

The first red flag arose when my cruise line canceled my trip due to unforeseen circumstances. Despite having purchased trip cancellation coverage through AON, they refused to honor the claim, leaving me to foot the bill for the canceled trip entirely on my own. This failure to fulfill their promise of coverage was not only disappointing but also financially burdensome.

Furthermore, when my luggage was delayed during this trip, I turned to AON for assistance, hoping to alleviate some of the inconvenience and expense. Once again, I was met with disappointment as AON refused to provide any reimbursement for the delayed luggage, despite this being a covered event according to their policy. This consistent pattern of denial of legitimate claims speaks volumes about the company's lack of commitment to their customers' well-being.

Upon lodging a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), I was met with further frustration. While I expected some form of resolution or compensation, I instead received dismissive responses from AON adjusters, insisting that I was not entitled to any compensation according to their arbitrary rules. Even when I requested a refund of my premium due to their failure to fulfill their contractual obligations, I was met with resistance, with AON citing my claim filings as a reason for denial.

In summary, my experience with AON Travel Insurance was nothing short of a nightmare. Their failure to pay for legitimate losses, coupled with their dismissive attitude towards customer complaints, is a clear indication of their lack of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction. I echo the sentiments of other dissatisfied customers and strongly advise against entrusting AON with your travel insurance needs. When purchasing travel insurance, it's imperative to thoroughly research the company beforehand to avoid falling victim to the deceptive practices of companies like AON.

AON TRAVEL INSURANCE IS A SCAM

Had to cancel my Europe cruise 9 months before the cruise departure date. I had to file a claim to get my $900 deposit back. AON travel insurance has been stringing me alone for months and months. I informed them that my medical records are available to them as my medical provider will not fill out AON extensive paperwork. AON response is that since my medical provider has not responded they are closing my claim unless I can provide them more details about my claim. When did the burden fall upon me? I have given everything I have to AON and I am no closer to my refund than I was day one. This is a scam. They do nothing and then deny the claims for lack of information. SCAM.

Class action lawsuit anyone?

Our cruise line canceled the trip due to unrest in the Middle East. The insurance company refuses to refund our monies and wants us to use it on a future trip. However, this trip was time specific for a particular purpose i.e. 50th birthday, which will not occur again in the future. Based on all of the reviews, and the fact that this company is keeping money for a trip that was canceled not by the customer, but by the business for which they are providing insurance, (Along with all the other horrendous things I have seen people being denied compensation for which should be covered), it seems to me a class action lawsuit is in order. I feel that’s the only way everyone will get their money back. I have no idea how one goes about initiating a class action lawsuit, but I feel there is power in numbers. These people are crooks!

delay, deflect, don't pay - is their business model

Went on a cruise in June 2023, lost (or stolen) item worth $150. As of today (8 months later), being told we only cover what your home owners insurance does not cover. It took many phone calls and misleading descriptions, including that they would cover it but only if I called a certain number. It feels like they are purposely saying and doing things to cause so much delay and frustration that you just give up. They are right, my time is no longer worth the loss.

I partially blame Princess Cruises for having this company as a suggested link while booking the trip. We put trust in their suggested Insurance partner only to be denied on a technicality that does not sound legit (no proof was provided by them).

AON Insurance Buyer Beware !!!

We were scheduled to go on a 23 Day Cruise in April of 2024 that was cancelled due to unrest in the Middle East and was replaced with an itinerary we felt was less safe than the original itinerary. When we filed a claim with AON for a refund we were denied and basically told that unless one of us had passed away prior to embarkation we could not get a refund. (which I doubt would have even happened then). This insurance company is a fraud and I would never recommend them to anyone...Travel Agencies and Cruise Companies would be wise to use any another travel insurance agency if they wish to keep their loyal customers.

Wife paid for the travel insurance…

Wife paid for the travel insurance without reading the fine print, or reviews, her fault and our loss. If, in the opinion of Aon, you don't qualify for coverage, you are out of luck unless you're willing to go to court, which would cost more than the award, which is likely what they are counting on. Stay away from this company.

April 2024 Cruise

We planned a cruise for April 2024 and we had to cancel in January of this year due to my husband having Muscular Dystrophy and has taken several falls and is very unstable. I submitted a letter from his doctor like they requested and I submitted the invoice as requested and now they want full medical records to review. The letter from his doctor also stated that if they had further questions to please contact her and she gave her number from the Neurology Dept at University of Virginia Hospital. AON did not contact the doctor but sent another request to me for same information. We are apparently getting the same run around that everyone else has been getting. My question is why are the cruiselines dealing with such a poorly rated insurance company. Have they been reported to BBB before? Bottom line is that I am more concerned about the health of my husband which has a disease that there is no cure for than dealing with a company that has no respect for a human life.

KEEP AWAY!!!

KEEP AWAY!!!

We booked a Disney cruise in March of 2023. We were to sail July 15, 2023. I had an autoimmune disease for over 15 yrs called PBC. The disease was managed by meds all those years until it wasn't. My liver was progressively getting worse & so was I. I was septic & hospitalized in June. Doctors were able to treat the sepsis & i was discharged. I went through very extensive & detailed testing & on July 12th I was put on the UNOS (liver transplant) list. Once you're placed on a list you are not allowed to travel or be more than 3 hours away from the hospital. I immediately contacted Disney. I was refunded a small amount directly from Disney. The balance was supposed to be covered by AON. On the evening of July 21st, 2023 I was (by some miracle!) matched with a liver donor. The transplant took place within 12 hours of receiving my call. After several months of recovery I am now back to my old self. Although all the documents & doctor/surgeon documents/statements were uploaded on AONs website ... it is now January 21st & I am no where closer to receiving a refund. They always have an excuse. Oh! We're still missing a form. Oh! The examiners still need to review your file. I did a 3 way call with my transplant team charge nurse & AON ... OH! We have everything now. Yesterday I was told... oh! The forms the nurse uploaded has a different patients name. BS! The nurse saved the file that she uploaded. All lies!! I WILL get my money back even if I have to take them to court. BUT! save yourself the aggravation & hassle. This place should not be in business. Awful customer service & lack of resolution!

I don't recommend this insurance…

I don't recommend this insurance company. Ask your travel agent questions prior to agreeing to purchase their insurance. They will encourage you to buy and not tell you it only covers specific reasons for canceling. If you decide to take a credit they only pay 75% of the money towards your next cruise. I will keep you posted on how the process goes. They aren't making it easy so far.

Despicable tactics

We booked a Royal Caribbean cruise, and I had previously purchased AON, just in case. Well, my husband had a critically high fever a few days before the cruise. He also needed emergency surgery. I had completed all the necessary documents, had the surgeon fill out the required forms, which I downloaded to the AON claim, etc. This medical emergency was well within the criteria to get our money refunded. I received an AON email just a few short days after submitting everything that our case was closed. I called AON and was advised that it is the responsibility of the cruise line, not the travel protection. I advised them that the cruise line did not request medical documents, as that is the job of AON. The agent gave me an ongoing litany of excuses. I cannot imagine how Royal Caribbean utilizes the service of such a horrid, unethical, unprofessional company. This is a vicious cycle and an exercise in futility. However, I refuse to let thousands of dollars go to waste because of this unethical company. I am now to the point of going back to Royal to which they are referring me to AON. I am starting to think this whole thing is a calculated effort.

Regent 7 Seas Explorer Horrible -AON Terrific

Regent 7 Seas Explorer allowed passengers to embark for Alaska without even testing their temperature boarding. Sure enough, I got COVID19. I had a severe case and needed emergency ship medical care. The Regent charged me $4350 for one day's worth of care; they took no responsibiity for anything. AON paid every single bill. It took time as they have step by step procedures but in the end, they paid every penny.

They do all they can not to pay

They have done everything they can to not pay. They have requested the exact same forms multiple times. Their software says they received it each time. Then I get a request for the exact same item over and over and over. They would not accept a 3 page document from an Urgent care. My husband had to go to his Primary Care before traveling and get a letter from his primary care physician. They say that letter is not enough to prove he could not travel. I thought after sending the same documents over and over and over that they would pay. Then I got another request for a document I have already sent multiple times.
DO NOT PURCHASE their insurance you will not get any money back.

Never Buy AON Policy

Complete scam. Will do anything to not honor your policy even though paid in full in good faith . My dying brother in law had a last request to go on a cruise . He was bed ridden and passed away . That’s why we bought the policy . AON refuses to work with us . They actually are blaming Royal Caribbean . NEVER BUY THE INSURANCE POLICY

Timely Reimbursement

After reading most reviews I felt like I would never see a refund on our unfortunate cancellation. My husband was diagnosed with Ecoli and Afib two days before we were to fly to our cruise location. He was hospitalized and was released the day the cruise sailed. Sick for 11/2 weeks after.

We filed our claim October 25, 2023 with all required documentation. Today, November 13, 2023 the money is in our bank account. The people at AON were always very helpful and I believe this is a great turnaround on reimbursement.

This is an honest review of our experience. No

You have to be disabled to get a travel insurance claim paid

On September 20, 2021 I purchased a trip with Tauck to go to Yellowstone Park with my wife in September 2023. Beginning in June of 2023 I began to have vision issues. This was blurred vision, dried eye, redness. I visited my Optometrist and was diagnosed with dry eye. As I progressed thru treatments my vision was still blurred. I worried that a trip to Yellowstone with biking, white water rafting, and hiking was not going to be much fun with my condition. I cancelled the trip with Tauck and submitted a claim with AON. Documentation for my claim as well as medical records are attached. AON rejected my claim indicating that I was not disabled for travel. I am not disabled but was vision impaired. The AON agent indicated that having my doctor check the box for disability would get my claim paid. The agent also indicated that this claim would not be shared with the DMV. A claim with a box checked for vision issues and AON wont share that with the DMV. I pursued the claim with AON with no satisfaction. I continued to go to the doctor(s) as my I was still having vision issues. With steroids my vision is improving. I have cloudiness in my eyes and had surgery on my right eye on September 20, 2023. Surgery for me left eye is October 4, 2023. What fun would a trip be to Yellowstone with blurred vision and not able to enjoy biking, rafting, and hiking. I am asking that my travel claim be paid and my travel costs reimbursed.

The worst experience ever

The worst experience ever. I had to cancel my 35th anniversary cruise with Carnival because of reconstructive foot surgery. I submitted my claim complete including necessary medical support information. They denied my claim with some blah, blah, blah about pre-existing condition. How is foot surgery a pre-existing condition? do not do business with them or with Carnival Cruise as they sold me the insurance.

I could not give ZERO and had to give 1…

I could not give ZERO and had to give 1 star. I am joining the voices of many who share their frustration of not able to get this company to pay what they promised. My mother was hospitalized the week before her cruise and was discharged on the day of the cruise. However, they were telling me many different excuses to not follow through on the claim despite the fact that I got a note from an APRN at the hospital who provided care and her primary care physician who also cared for her at the hospital. I have found Travel Insurance Ombudsman that could support people who are in such a situation as I am.
I plan to reach out to them if this company continues to refuse reimbursing what is promised. If not, I think all the people who are in the similar situation need to go to court with class action suit.

BEWARE!!

BEWARE!!! This company will rip you off and leave you with the bills! My flight home was cancelled by Air Canada (horrible and will never use again). I was left stranded in a foreign country with no way home…no option offered by the airline. I had purchased Aon’s travel insurance through Globus travel company, so I was not worried. Globus was able to book me on another return flight home for over $800. The insurance I was sold covered delays/illnesses/cancellations etc… After sending Aon multiple proof of my itenerary, receipts etc…they are only comping me $300…of the over $800 I spent! This fraudulent promise of travel insurance is a sham! This company needs to be taken out of business! I implore everyone to please condemn businesses who promote Aon as their travel insurance partner! As much as I love Globus Tours, this experience makes me really not support them either. We as consumers need to take a stand and fight for what is right…out of principle! Yes, I am angry about the over $500 difference…and I still expect that from Aon, but it is also the principle of them lying and cheating consumers from their hard earned money and from a paid service that consumers are not getting!
