Never ever go with this insurance company.
I had a cancellation because of medical reasons for a family friend for whom I booked and paid for the cruise ship ticket along with my family. We purchased travel protection from AON Affinity via Disney cruise line. My friend submitted the medical certificate and all of the required documents for processing the claim. They rejected the claim just putting one line reason "There is no cancellation penalty was applied to your booking". I paid the full ticket price and they didn't refund me the ticket price. Don't take travel protection plan from this company which is partnered with most of the cruise ships. Get an outside insurance.
AON Trip Protection Insurance
AON Trip Protection Insurance - which is offered by Road Scholar - wears you down. I am now on my fourth "contact us in 10-12 days" message from AON about my June 23 submission. My American flight was delayed 24 hours (that's not a misprint) and cancelled. I missed my two-week hiking vacation in England. Three weeks later, AON required a letter from American confirming the length of delay and cancellation. On July 24, I submitted that letter from American. It is now going on six weeks and still no word from AON. A suggestion for improvement:
1) Require the letter from the airline in your initial request for documents since this is standard procedure, I was told. This might prevent the unsatisfactory delay in reimbursement that I am experiencing now, 74 days after my initial submission.
2) Do not outsource your calls to reps in Philippines. Two of my calls were directed there. One person was unable to understand my issue. The other gave me wrong information on what would be satisfactory documents to submit.
I'm still waiting.
Illness puts off cruise -- and AON puts off paying
We planned on a cruise that my father in law said he was too ill to take. After seeing urgent care--with nothing found he went on to see his regular doctor and was emergently hospitalized for two weeks. Had he gone on the cruise, he very well could have been ill and hospitalized with what actually happened while out at sea or in a foreign country. We thought how great it was that we had gotten the insurance--but it just keeps being put off with requests for more medical records or a different form, even with letter from his physician provided. The insurance was to cover travel not taken FOR ANY REASON--not just medical issues. NEVER GET THIS INSURANCE--9 months later and still a shell game with no resolution in sight.
Waste of money-stay away from AON travel insurance
All travel was arranged through NCL for a land and sea cruise. One of our flights on the front end of the trip was cancelled which caused us to miss part of the tour. We had to find flights, a hotel room & train tickets to catch up to our tour group. We are out several thousand dollars due to no fault of our own. We filed a claim and AON will only pay us $500 each. Less than what we paid for the insurance. Horrible customer service.
DO NOT USE AON Travel insurance!
Don't deal with AON
Don't deal with this company. We planned a cruise for us and our two sons’ families. We purchased travel insurance through AON. One daughter-in-law became pregnant after booking and ended up with some health issues and concerns. Not a “normal” pregnancy. They declined our claim. Waste of our money and time. We are done with Royal Caribbean as well for associating themselves with AON. Other options available.
I wish I were these reviews before…
I wish I were these reviews before purchasing. This is the biggest scam of an insurance company I have ever seen. I have been ripped off and they have not heard the last of it. Deplorable.
We claimed the remainder of the funds…
We claimed the remainder of the funds Healthcare insurance did not pay, and they refunded the balance. I was very surprised at the speed of processing for the medical cost on board. I thought it was very professional.
I'd give zero stars if I could
I'd give zero stars if I could. We were booked on a cruise in April. Six weeks before one of the kids in our group was in a dirt bike accident and severely injured. Cruise was canceled because he wouldn't be able to walk. Insurance was denied because the accident happened less than 60 days from the purchase of the insurance! How is that even legal? Now Carnival is refusing to refund or even credit us for the cruise. I will never buy trip insurance again and I will tell everyone I know to never trust AON, total waste of money.
Unsatisfied Buyer, Biggest rip-off
I have been trying since April to get an insurance refund due to husband's health, only to be denied, the biggest rip off insurance company, do not, i repeat do not go with AON INSURANCE COMPANY !!! Karen Vaught
This company has been our worst…nightmare.
This company has been our worst nightmare! Purchased trip insurance through Royal Caribbean. Aon was their carrier. During the December Christmas cruise - 3rd day out - I was diagnosed by ships Dr that I had heart attack. Because of Aon's past very poor service, the hospital/Drs in Dominican Republic wanted payment for all services UP FRONT.
Upon returning to United States and Drs here diagnosing no heart attack. My husband filed our expensed out of pocket (roughly $20,000). 5 months later we still have no reimbursement have filed and refiled our claim at their direction. NOW they want us to file with Medicare and Tricare for the out of country charges!!! This is insane!!! Medicare and Tricare will never pick up foreign medical expenses. They make that very clear.
My husband was in a really bad accident…
My husband was in a really bad accident a few months ago and is still having to have surgeries because of the accident. Recently he had a very bad infection in the area of the surgeries, he is now has a PICC line and receives IV antibiotics daily.
I called to cancel our cruise, they said I had to cancel 120 days before, according to my app it was 120 days. But when I called they said since we are flying in the day before it is 119 days and I will have to provide all this information just to get my insurance money back. I have enough stress with all the health issues, I don't really need this added to it.
Trust me I would much rather be on the cruise then at home helping my husband recover.
I'm considering starting a Class Action…
I'm considering starting a Class Action suit against AON.
Dec 12 I sent correspondence cancelling my trip. It is now May 17. I've spent over 40 hours supplying them with letters from three doctors as well as sending them every test result within the last year. Finally after four months I had a lengthy conversation with an agent. I took copious notes to understand exactly what they still wanted from me. I sent an email shortly after that with everything they requested. I received an email today asking for more information. My internist of 20 years has spent hours supplying them with all records and a letter stating I was healthy when I purchased the insurance and how my health has deterioriated over the year and why I'm not capable of going on a 26 day trip. She said in all her years of practice she's never experienced what feels to her like harrassmentl
This has been stressful and exhausting.
I called AON but I was told I couldn't speak with a top agent and I would hear from them in another 15 days.
It seems with all the negative reviews there must be a way to have an impact.
AON Supports Clinical Trials
It took a little time but AON came through with my claim. My reason was that I had just been accepted for a clinical for a muscle disease that I have. I sent them a letter from my doctor and the Physicians statement. A required visit to my Dr. was scheduled for a day that would have been in the middle of my cruise. My compliments to AON for supporting clinical trials to find a cure for diseases that aren't curable at this time.
Our trip was interrupted by my covid…
Our trip was interrupted by my covid diagnosis; we missed 10 days of a 14 day trip to Alaska. AON reimbursed us for our missed flights home...that is all! We are out over $8000 with a credit with Princess Travel which we will not use. DO NOT INSURE WITH AON.
Went very well
I had expected to have a terrible experience after reading all of these negative reviews, but it has been less than one week, and I have had my claim approved, and the money is in my bank account. My mom broke her arm with less than 2 weeks before we left on our cruise, and she needed surgery. I had to fill out one medical form (my doctor did), and submit my receipts, but that was it. I am unsure if they are improving because of all the other reviews, but I did not have any issues.
It's gonna take months I should have…
It's gonna take months I should have been more diligent there are better companies with excellent reviews I'm going on a trip again I will not use aon infinity...
Zero stars
Vacation cut short due to Covid diagnosis. Aon asked for the same information repeatedly. Finally gave partial refund after BBB got involved. Aon is unable to read a paid receipt, look at the itinerary, and do the math to calculate a full refund.
This company is a joke!
This company is a joke!! They will deny a claim no matter the situation. My father got sick before our cruise, went to the doctor for a note and then 3 weeks later he passed away. They denied the claim because he had preexisting condition - he was in remission from cancer. What is the point of travel insurance if you can't even use it?
Claim denied for father-in-law that died before cruise
This company is horrible and I would never purchase travel insurance again if they are the insurers. My wife's father passed away 2 months before our cruise. I submitted the claim and 10 months later its denied. I've been sending additional paperwork and calling and they keep saying trying again in 30 days. Its total BS and they should be investigated.
No customer service,no resolution
We booked a $10,000 Disney World vacation and as we were heading to the airport to leave for our trip, the airline cancelled the flight without any reason given. We could not find another flight to make our trip work so we were forced to cancel.
This vacation was booked in November of 2022. It is March 2023 and Aon still has not paid the claim and everytime we call they just say they are backed up and to give them 30 more days. This is unacceptable.
Shame on Disney for giving this company business.
