I wish I had read the reviews here before buying TravelGuard insurance. Notice that the good reviews are by people who have just *bought* the insurance but never made a claim. My experience making a claim for medical expenses abroad has been ridiculous. TravelGuard keeps sending me the full list of what is needed, most of which I provided earlier. Their emails don't tell you specifically what more is needed. You do your best to provide it, and then they surprise you with yet more requirements.

My trip was last summer, and I filed a claim in the fall. I have wasted a ridiculous amount of time on this, hours and hours. The claim was for about $1,000.

Note: if you don't get documentation in English from a hospital abroad, good luck getting anything from TravelGuard. I was in Indonesia and Vietnam, and none of the doctors in the hospitals I saw spoke English. It's now almost a year later and TravelGuard just sent me some more forms I'm supposed to get my doctors at home *and* abroad to fill out. I give up. Money wasted, TIME wasted, lesson learned. Forget this company.

I have used their service before when I had an accident during a vacation in December 2024. The process was tedious but reasonable. That's why I purchased the insurance again.

They are a waste of money! Don’t bother using them!They don’t even cover what they state they will cover in their supposed policy. Trip interruption total fraud! My flight got cancelled, then it became delayed over night and I had to get a hotel to be able to fly out the next day on my trip. I bought insurance for three people. All I asked was for a return of the hotel $160 and they couldn’t even pay me that. I bet all those good reviews are robots and by us buying their fraudulent insurance falling for it.

If you have to cancel your trip and you no longer have a trip to insure you will lose your money. Just save your money and get a refundable trip. Easier to deal with than this scam of a company.

I haven't had to use the insurance, but recently purchased it for an upcoming trip. The process is simple and takes just a few minutes!

The web site is very easy to navigate and understand. The choices of coverage offered were well explained in understandabel terms.

They never issue refunds and make the process difficult. Even after receiving documented proof, they constantly demand more paperwork. The insurance purchased from them is absolutely useless; don't throw your money away.

The quote process was very easy and straightforward. However, the true test of any insurance occurs if and when you have a claim.

First time user of the website and purchaser of your product. Easy to follow instructions and great variations of coverage.

The above agency and person has been on our case since December 2025 and have refused to refund our payment for the trip booked for April 30th. Please note trip was canceled in December and we requested a refund. Just wanted to let the general public to be aware and avoid any future dealings with Travel Guard insurance agency as they are scammers.

I’ve been using travelguard for over 20 years - easy and straightforward to purchase. I’ve never had a claim so if I do I hopes it is just as easy and straightforward.

This company is a rip off. I paid for there protection plan and when I had to cancel my flight they told me that nobody died so they will not reimburse me my money. So basically they are scammers and don't use there company. There are a lot of legit insurance companies.

Very simple to understand. Moved through process quickly. Received confirmation as stated.

Terrible company. Dont use. Had a small claim on a rental car slit tire. So far 4 times Ive got emails to submit documents. Ive submitted each time everything by email and uploaded on their website. Called in said they will have the adjustor call me back. Called me a week later and apologized and they had all they needed. And now that they took so long the car rental company has charged my card they will pay me so I had to send that confirmation. Sent it and all the documents again both ways. Now I get a final request for documents and that the claim with clise in 2 days. So I called in again and they said an adjuster will call me. Dont waste your money.

I purchased travel insurance, my kid got a big corporate job and wanted to be at his first big job. Even though we had this planned for 8 months, he chose to be at his job. We did purchase Insurance. Travel Guard said he needed to get a signed statement from the CEO that they wouldn't let him go to Mexico or lose his job. Unacceptable, I will never get travel insurance again. Take the credit from the Airline. Shame on the airlines for this 3rd party insurance. Why even buy it.
