Just straightforward data entry on trip; cost, persons with ages. Nothing about where going, special events like charters, etc.

Great experience during travel guard claim process

Due to my fight we’re canceled I have to re-arrange another fight home and eventually cause I have to cancel rest of schedule and go home early. Adjuster Ashley provide quick respond and really doing great job to communicate during claim process.

Terrible Company

My husband and I purchased Travel Guard insurance for a hotel getaway last February, even though the destination was only about an hour from home. Living in New England, we know winter weather can change quickly, and we wanted peace of mind in case travel became unsafe.

The night before our trip, a major storm was forecast to bring up to a foot of snow, with hazardous driving conditions throughout the region. We decided not to risk traveling and submitted a claim, providing weather forecasts and other supporting documentation.

Unfortunately, the claims process has been extremely frustrating. After uploading numerous documents and spending hours on hold across multiple phone calls, I repeatedly received scripted responses. I was told I needed flight cancellation documentation—even though we were driving—and road closure documentation, even though the roads were not officially closed, just unsafe for travel.

Now, months later, it is difficult to find archived weather information from February to satisfy their requests. I feel stuck in an endless loop of documentation demands with no clear path forward. Not only did we lose our weekend getaway and the cost of the hotel, but I have also spent countless hours trying to prove what was a very real weather-related travel concern.

Based on my experience, I would carefully review the policy's weather-related coverage and documentation requirements before purchasing. I personally, will never use Travel Guard again!

Company would not honor a valid claim…

Company would not honor a valid claim under part b,c in their policy. Wife and son ran out of seizure medication and needed to get their scripts filled. We went to the emergency room. Why buy insurance if they won't honor valid claims? Not happy and will seek arbitration if monetarily feasible.

"Inclement Weather"

In March of 2026 Maui was hit with a Kona storm and the island received 46 inches of rain in 2 days. Roads were washed out, trees downed across roads, there was severe flooding and power outages. Multiple news outlets covered the storm and can still be viewed (proven) online. when I provided these news reports and images, Travel Guard didn't consider this "Inclement Weather" or at least they simply chose not to pay the claim. The policy doesn't state the customer is required to prove that the hotel was rendered uninhabitable or inaccessible, but the claims adjuster repeatedly denied the claim stating that I must provide this documentation. So, according to this company, I would have had to travel to Maui hoping that my family of 5 would be safe and the hotel not directly impacted by this catastrophic storm. Also, Travel Guard staff don't review your documentation or simple correspondence for 15 business days at a time. This policy or practice makes it extremely difficult to contest any issue. When you call them, be ready for an hour of hold just to only be allowed to request a call back from the adjuster. Over the course of 3 months, I was only able to speak to the adjuster one time when he called on Saturday morning at 7am. Travel Guard is a terrible business with employees who don't care about customers, and a model that supports denying claims. I also entered a complaint through the BBB and am considering taking the company, or my claims adjuster, to small claims court to recuperate some of the 5400 dollars that Travel Guard didn't protect.
