Just straightforward data entry on trip; cost, persons with ages. Nothing about where going, special events like charters, etc.

"Inclement Weather"

In March of 2026 Maui was hit with a Kona storm and the island received 46 inches of rain in 2 days. Roads were washed out, trees downed across roads, there was severe flooding and power outages. Multiple news outlets covered the storm and can still be viewed (proven) online. when I provided these news reports and images, Travel Guard didn't consider this "Inclement Weather" or at least they simply chose not to pay the claim. The policy doesn't state the customer is required to prove that the hotel was rendered uninhabitable or inaccessible, but the claims adjuster repeatedly denied the claim stating that I must provide this documentation. So, according to this company, I would have had to travel to Maui hoping that my family of 5 would be safe and the hotel not directly impacted by this catastrophic storm. Also, Travel Guard staff don't review your documentation or simple correspondence for 15 business days at a time. This policy or practice makes it extremely difficult to contest any issue. When you call them, be ready for an hour of hold just to only be allowed to request a call back from the adjuster. Over the course of 3 months, I was only able to speak to the adjuster one time when he called on Saturday morning at 7am. Travel Guard is a terrible business with employees who don't care about customers, and a model that supports denying claims. I also entered a complaint through the BBB and am considering taking the company, or my claims adjuster, to small claims court to recuperate some of the 5400 dollars that Travel Guard didn't protect.

After reading exclusions that are not covered it should be criminal to sell this insurance using the name “travel guard” at check out using Expedia. Total money grab they know what they are doing . Beware. Please visit Reddit reviews before proceeding there is lots of great information there on this “insurance”

Scam!!!!

Think carefully before purchasing Travel Guard - lots of red flags with this company!!! Really more of a Scam!!!!! Do not waste your money on this!!! I have purchased this insurance several times during my travel, but this was the first time I file a claim due to a bicycle accident that cracked my husband’s rib. We were traveling to race a 51 mile kayak race down the Missouri River. We rent Home2Suites by Hilton in Kansas City, KS, and purchased this insurance through their hotel. First, Travel Insurance requested me to cancel my reservation, send them that proof, with receipt of my invoice with payment of the reservation, and my other supporting documents. But, their portal was down, so I filed through a link outside of this portal. Then, their portal wouldn’t allow it to submit. Worked with their customer service to submit to them for them to submit. Every-time, I checked to make sure all my documents were submitted their internet was down, on several occasions. I tried to submit the documents again since I wasn’t sure they got them, but never received a confirmation that they did. Finally, after almost a month, I get a letter rejecting my claim due to not medical report. We did contact our doctor and he said there is no way to treat a cracked rib. I did send them proof of the race being held there and his pass record on that race. So, if you don’t want to waste 4-5 hours of your time talking to their customer service that can’t keep their internet working and filling forms you don’t know if they have received save your money. I am sure they probably were able to rent our room on a Friday night, so they made twice their money and we are out almost $300. Terrible customer support and policy.

I have been booking a trip to Africa…

I have been booking a trip to Africa and went over my insurance options several times. In doing so my dates defaulted back to when I was purchasing the policy and I did not notice until several weeks later. When I noticed it looked like I'd already been on my trip. I talked to an agent and a manager and explained plus offered my itinerary and how I made this stupid mistake. They would not budge, took my $1700 and said I had to purchase another policy. Very disappointing and beyond a costly human error. Be careful, I am very careful when booking and consider myself a very competent person. I have a feeling I'm not the only one this has happened to and it's beyond cruel they will not work with you. This really makes me question if they will take care of me if I need to use my policy when I do travel. Very scary.

DO NOT PURCHASE TRAVEL GUARD INSURANCE…

DO NOT PURCHASE TRAVEL GUARD INSURANCE ITS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! THEY COVER NOTHING Purchased insurance for an International flight. My original itinerary was changed 5 times causing me to be forced to stay 2 extra days. I also had a layover changed from 2.5 hours to 9.5 hours. Travel Guard covered NOTHING!! I LOST approx $700 hundreds dollars .
Travel guard reps were terrible to deal with. Lied to me. sent me on wild goose chase insisted that I get a Flight Delay report from Etihad Airways which never provided. This mistreatment of customers needs to be investigated!

Good travel insurance but rates are geared toward age and state

I've been using Travel Guard exclusively for my cruise vacations for many years utilizing the Essential Plan coverages, with the additional medical and evac options offered. The online site is easy to navigate and you get a quote right away. Having said that, I do have several items I don't like such as higher rates for seniors along with higher rates for living in Florida. Additionally, not having a waiver for pre-existing conditions unless you buy the policy within 15 days of your initial deposit and the CFAR option only being offered for TG's higher premium policies.

Coverage you’re looking for

Called and talked to David to ask some questions and he was very good at explaining everything and answering my questions. I then explored other companies before purchasing Travelguard online because the coverage was best.
