Company is thieves

This company is horrible . 472 days ago I left my job due to losing my son to death . It took fighting for 472 days to get my 401 money rolled over . First call I made 472 days was to get money to bury my child they said no your an active employee I was only a prn employee for the last 11 months so I never returned . Trowe made this the most god awful experience in my life they refused to help me they refused to give phone numbers to people who could help . They were nasty mean and there were so so many calls made by me . Don’t trust your money with these thieves . I would give them 0 stars but I had to click on something to proceed .

TRowe Price never picks up the phone

The repeated same familiar experience over and over again of calling, waiting on hold, having an associate say the call has to transfer to another department, then being placed on hold again, forced to wait again with that horrible hold music I have come to detest, and nobody picking up the phone - until (surprise) 4 p.m. How is it that a multi-billion dollar organization does not staff adequately for customer service forcing infuriatingly inconsiderate long wait on hold times?? Fidelity answers directly after a short time, several rings - what's THEIR secret?

Horrendous customer service

Horrendous customer service - you can never get through to anyone on the phone. It is like they are a company to test and improve your patience limits and not improve your finances. After a long hold with terrible music, you either get put on hold again within the first 2 seconds or the person you have cannot provide answers to the simplest of questions about their system, forms, or activities. Run with your money and go to one of the other financial / investment institutions. They must be giving big big discounts to state college savings funds and employers to be the chosen ones as that is how I got stuck with them. I am taking all my money somewhere else now that I am a small business owner and can choose to do that.

Terrible customer service

Terrible experience with this firm compared to other financial firms. When I wanted to roll over funds to another firm they made me fill out paper forms, mail them to the other institution for signatures, then mail them back. What a 1950s way of doing business. I'm going to remove all my funds.

The company itself is a good company…

The company itself is a good company but they have one of the worst training platforms you will ever see and it's extremely confusing. I have been trading for over 30 years and have over 15 different brokerage accounts and t Rowe Price platform is the only one that is still confusing to me today and makes no sense. This will end up costing the investor money in the long run

Horrid customer service

A 401k account through my employer who chose T. Rowe Price to administer is how I came to know them and all I experienced was absolute frustration, anger, and disgust for this company and the staff! Horrble customer service, arrogant, self rightous female dogs that will put you on an endless hold if you even think of putting them on the spot or contradicting them! BETTER CHOICES OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!

Not easy when it gets complicated

With a 20 year old 401K and IRA with TROWE I mostly just traded between funds occasionally, which wasn't much of a problem. Taking a simple loan against my 401k was easy enough as well, but when I had a complicated residence construction loan to process and needed a human being who was invested in understanding and processing my loan I found nothing but key-punching screen readers speaking for decisions they had no part of. It took 2 months (communication of paperwork issues killed the 30-day window on my first submission-with a correct payment structure) and several calls before I got a good rep (there is at least one). 3 different submissions of paperwork resulted in me getting the term wrong with 2x payments and now I have to repay it and start all over...my head hurts just thinking of calling them.

They have poor website and systems and…

They have poor website and systems and use that as an excuse when they forget to trade withdrawals that had to be determined 3 years in advance and are on their website. No follow through to correct this situation just excuses that keep happening over and over when they said it shouldn't. Untrustworthy company.

Firm is way too slow

I decided to transfer an IRA account with T Rowe to Schwab because the TRowe web site for opening new accounts has become dysfunctional. The money has left my TRowe account but no sign of it appearing in Schwab. A nice agent at T Rowe said it may take 17 more days but she cannot tell for sure.
This is horrible.

I called to go get my balance and at first spoke with one customer service and asked two questions to get verified, I did not have that information, so I said l will call back. The customer service was rude so I called back and got Ashley online who stated my account was locked. Was not sure Why she explained I was asked 2 authentication questions process but did not provide the right information. I explained to Ashley I told the previous agent I will call back and I had the information they asked. Ashly said I had to wait for a form in the mail but that did not make sence. I asked for supervisor who can review the call or help me and ashely placed me on hold to reach out to superviosr. She was very professional kept coming back on call to check inn and advicing me she was still speaking to supervisor . When she came back she asked the information they requested I provided . Ashley was very professional she placed me on hold and after a while she was able to speak to the manager and after they verified the information they requested , Ashely was able to get the account unlocked and she proceeded to help and answer all the question I had. so grateful for Ashley Id number TRPKF32. In the end was satisfied customer will be calling back tommorow to have the issue I had resolved I'm thankful I encountered this represenatative. and for her going the extra mile to help. Thank you Ashley.

If Troweprice is a quality investment firm, I am a brain surgeon.

I have had a 401K since it was established I think. I worked with multiple comanies who managed my funds and never had a problem. Then, my previous employer moved 401 K to TRowePrice. What a trainwreck! I had my first statement 31 days late, had my investments piegon holed in CDs while the stock maket flourished. I was in the dark because my first statement was over a month late. Once I found out I was out of the market and losing money it took over seven weeks to get an answer as to what happened. And that only after contacting the CEO, and even then it took weeks and weeks to get the answer that they had sent a notice - the one I never received. It was like the "dog ate my homework". By my calculations I lost 100k because it was bumbled around and misappropriated into a completely different type of investment than I had ever had.

It makes one wonder, when a major change in investment is made, should the owner not be required to approve it? It also begs the question, would we want our entire retirement exposed to the whims of some office flunkie to move it and send a notice, like the one I never received?

I have ZERO respect for a company who take months to figure out an answer to a simple question.

I posed the same question to my previous 401K managers - Merrill Lynch - I had answers in one hour, documents the following day, and a call from management two days later to follow up. Trowe Price looks like a JV team compared to Merill lynch. If I had not contacted the CEO I would have waited until after my retirement to get answers.
Therfore I can recommend my lawn guy over Trowe price to manage assets.
Bad enough they are less efficient than others, but the salt in the wound is that they really do not care.

Since I do not get the respect that accompanies a prompt response, this is the first in a long series.

My very 1st time using the services…

My very 1st time using the services "Bad Experience". I was on the phone for almost 1 hour to complete a withdraw from my plan which I tried to do myself but could not because the third party "Plaid" does not list my bank. So my options were to pay extra to get it quicker or they can mail me a check that could take 7-14 days. Then they calculated the amount that would be taken out for federal taxes which ended up double the amount it should have been. When I asked where on the site could I get my document they said they mailed it to me that I cannot get this on the site.. "RIP OFF"

Customer not foremost

I once did a partial withdrawal from a sum of money from T RowePrice from a previous employer, to be direct deposited into my checking acct. When it didn’t show up, I called TRP and my bank for days. TRP said it was done and my bank hadn’t pulled it. My bank said it wasn’t there. Turned out, TRP’s last excuse was that my bank acct. wasn’t listed in my TRP acct. name(I go by my middle name). Turned out to be not so. Finally told it was a typo-error at TRP( not sure what’s true- not a banking problem in my mind). TRP encourages feedback to the board-I did. I ate $144 NSF fees at my bank as a result. Simply asked was the loss/ expense on me- no response, no offer of assistance, nothing. I’ve since had 2 occasions where TRP uses an independent verification company where I’ve been asked the birth month and age of distant relatives with the same names-one goes by his middle name. Answer is impossible if you don’t know which relative, difficult even if you do being distant relatives. I failed each as they asked the questions based on first name which, again, delayed my money. Guess I would have expected a reply as they encourage feed back. Guess I get it , except, TRP takes no responsibility. Think I’ll see where I can park my little money where people treat it like theirs!

Poor Customer Service

I'm an expat with a TRowePrice retirement account. I requested a wire transfer be made to a US bank for my year 2022 RMD. TRowePrice has previously made wire transfers to this bank for me. However, I had to go through a validation process to authorize the wire transfer. Of the questions asked, one required that I confirm a telephone number that I used 20 years ago! I couldn't remember the telephone number so I failed the validation process and they would not perform the wire transfer even though they had previously made transfers to this same bank. Their "Specialist" told me there was no one else within TRowePrice that I could talk to. Their "solution" was to mail a check to my foreign address and I would have to make arrangements to get this check cashed. Imagine the delay in international mail and the complications of cashing a USA check in a foreign country! In my opinion, TRowePrice has little concern for customer service.

Shady company - Avoid!

What a shady company. Had an old 401k with them and they decide to liquidate my investments and move them to a random 3rd party broker that I've never heard of without my consent. To top it all off - that 3rd party charged a $40 fee for setting up an account that I did not authorize. They did NOT notify me in advance that this would happen- only after the fact. They did not send me a message about this via their portal either. They claimed some nonsense about "plan provisions" being the reason for the unauthorized transaction. IF they were an ethical company then they should notify customers in writing and via their portal at least 60 and 30 days in advance, considering this is a major unauthorized transaction. I wouldn't doubt that they're hoping customers don't notice, so that the 3rd party gets to eat away customers' hard earned cash in obscure fees. Not to mention confidential information being transferred over to a 3rd party without explicit consent. They clearly have unethical practices and I suspect this is only the tip of the iceberg. Avoid at all costs!

DO NOT get a 529 With T. Rowe Price

DO NOT sign up for a 529 account with this company. The only reason I registered for a 529 account here as opposed to my state/other was the Online Gifting Portal functionality so my friends and family could easily send money and not have to write a check and send in the mail. My sons first birthday came in July and all of my family members notified me it wasn't working! I reached out to Trowe support and they have not resolved this issue as of 9/13/2022. No communication, no sense of urgency. I keep following up and they "make a note" that I called. As of 9/13/2022 (over a month broken) they still can not give me a timeline of when it will be fixed. In the financial services industry, this slow resolution time is unheard of. I'm looking at alternatives now. I urge any reader to consider another company for a 529 savings plan. You've been warned!

Stone Age

During the “pandemic” I was able to call or file online for a loan or withdrawal and have the money deposited in my bank account 2 days later. No paperwork involved at all. Now that the “pandemic” is over suddenly the T Rowe price company has fell back into the Stone Age and lost the technology to do anything electronically. I wanted to take a loan from my retirement fund which should be streamlined and quick and easy just as it was during the pandemic, instead I had to request paperwork to be mailed to me so I could fill it out and mail it back with the amount requested. That took two weeks. Then after T Rowe price received the loan paperwork it took a few days to process through the loan department. It happened to be a Friday when it processed so of course since the technology seems to have been lost to just deposit the money into my bank account electronically, they had to print and mail a damn check which obviously didn’t mail out til Monday? Here it is Thursday and still no check in the mail. What’s funny is I paid off a loan I previously had through my retirement account and even though that was actually done electronically from my bank account it still took T Rowe price 2 weeks to even process that. The point of this email is that it’s 2022 and T Rowe price has decided that after the “pandemic” that the company can no longer keep up with modern times and so they will do everything by paper and mail. Welcome back to the Stone Age!
