Exceptional Tutor Service!

As a family we can not praise TutorHouse highly enough. The level of commitment to helping our sons education was instrumental in achieving his required grades to get the University place he wanted. Alex coordinated efforts with his previous college and exam centre to overcome a number of difficulties and provided guidance and total support through a complex and stressful situation. The quality of teaching was exceptional and the commitment of the tutors was outstanding. We would 100% recommend using TutorHouse.

Richard Foster, exceptional Politics tutor

Meeting Richard Foster, A level Politics tutor, was third time lucky for us. We really struggled to find a politics tutor who could properly explain the ideologies to our DD and who could help her to answer the exam questions to maximise her results. Richard was exceptional. He was well prepared for every lesson, with excellent notes and he took time to ensure that DD was up to speed before moving on from a topic. Politics was the A level that DD was most concerned with... it ended up being her top grade. She achieved an A* and this was, without question, down to Richard's excellent teaching. I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone looking for a top class politics tutor.

Thank you Alex!

I want to say a massive thank you to Alex for his free personal statement review service. At a time when he must be inundated with requests, I was pleasantly surprised to receive my review the same day I requested. He also makes a personalised detailed video explaining his reviewing comments. After making changes, he even reviewed it for a second time. All of his advice and guidance has been most valuable and constructive, and I am sincere when I say I feel 100% confident in using my statement to apply to LSE and Oxford.

Excellent

Have been using Tutor House for my daughter whom is a year 6 student and found the service to be excellent. She has really enjoyed the English and Maths work set out for her to complete online with her tutor and has come away more confident each time. As a mother around the house I have often sat and listened in and really like how approachable and open the tutors have been to questions and explanations when needed. I would highly recommend this service not just for children approaching examinations but to help along with younger children too that need more confidence and extra learning.

Poor experience, not recommended

I wanted a tutor for me daughter. I searched and chose one who we thought matched our requirements. I booked a trial session and waited for confirmation. After several days, it still wasn't confirmed so I sent an email to the tutor. I ever received a response at all. Then I received an email from the company asking why things didn't work out and would I like to speak to them about it. They offered a £50 Amazon voucher if I would speak to them and discuss what had happened. I contacted them at the agreed time and they seemed so nice and apologised and offered a free lesson if required. However, I have never heard back from them and never received the voucher. In my personal opinion, this is a poorly run company and I would not trust them. Go by word of mouth and find a tutor you know, rather than use an online company.

Exceptional support and motivation throughout my year of retaking.

Tutor House has provided exceptional support and motivation throughout my year of retaking. Right from the start , Alex Dyer ,the Director and all the tutors were incredibly encouraging of the career path I wanted to take .They were with me every step of the way , providing advice on UCAS application to weekly lessons for my three subjects . All the tutors were superb and their teaching was spot on. The management team was quick to identify and address any potential issues at all times.
I cannot thank Alex Dyer enough for always being there and supporting me at every inch of the way and to sort out any problems be it liaising with universities , being available to talk about course work or reassuring me about exams . Having come from a school that was far removed from the university application process without any support system , I found my experience with Tutor House to be the complete opposite where I thrived and rediscovered my lost confidence and all because of Alex and my tutors.I was offered help with UKCAT preparation ,university application process with Alex taking time to personally look through personal statements, assessing me and liaising with my previous school.

In the current unprecedented pandemic situation Tutor house has been extremely helpful especially due to the fact that I was applying for Dentistry which has an earlier deadline than most other university courses. With every unforeseen complication that arose , Alex with his great links to exam centers in central London was able to help me out with finding the exam center. The Tutor House teaching team was extremely professional , thorough , and experienced in accommodating my specific needs and was able to tailor lessons to suit me and my schedule.

I was paired with tutors who were really engaging and experienced . They are very organised and appropriately demanding. I enjoyed my lessons and became much more confident with every lesson. The teachers consistently tested me to ensure I had a good grasp on the subject and they were available to contact any time I had a query . The classes were small ,with greater focus on individual learning and the teachers are always supportive and well prepared for each lesson. The teaching style enabled me to understand material which previously confused me and they had a great grasp of the exam specification as well as exam technique . Moreover , all the tutors were conducive to my revision , they provided me with exam questions, revision material and always got back quickly whenever I sent a question I was stuck with . The tutors kept a copy of each test I completed and increased the test rigor towards the end of the year. Even though it was a lot of marking for the teachers as well as adhering to strict deadlines, they ensured there was enough material to send off to my exam boards to show proof of my attainment . The tutors were able to adapt their teaching through Covid-19 to be fully online . Even through this , they remained positive , set targets and encouraged me ensuring I didn’t lose my focus.

Being a part of Tutor House ensured I have a university place for Dentistry especially through Covid-19. Tutor House will always have a special place in my journey and I am very lucky to have been part of Tutor House.

Experience as a parent of a child tutored/assisted by Tutor House

Tutor House has worked with my daughter over the past three years now; supporting her with one-to-one tuition for her A-Level French as well as assisting her throughout her UCAS process. Their friendly team has been extremely helpful (often responding to queries immediately), and working to identify and assist with my daughter's needs. With all the confusion around A-Levels and university admissions this year, they've provided calm and clear guidance throughout! I can not recommend Tutor House enough - Well Done!

Excellent place to work

An excellent place to work. If you are exploring private tuition, look no further!!
Previously I had run the gamut of teaching positions. Post compulsory, Adult returners,Early years etc etc.
I had also joined some other agencies but Tutor House emerged as the best for me.
They quickly checked my documents and I had work within weeks. They will match you to any preferences.
I have no real favourite so was delighted when I had a chance to support an A level computer science pupil and a year 6 pupil with their English and I.T. You can also take as little or as much work as you want
Alex and Mya are very supportive any concerns or queries just ask.
When it was open pre covid the central offices were great to work in
Please give them a try you won't be disappointed

My experience of working as a tutor…

My experience of working as a tutor with Tutor House has been very positive. The team at TH-HQ are really friendly and will always do whatever they can to ensure smooth links are made between tutors and clients and to ensure the best outcome for all parties. There is complete transparency in terms of the expectations of your role as a tutor generally, and on a job-specific basis. Your feedback as a tutor is valued and integrated wherever possible, which makes working with Tutor House feel even more inclusive. I've worked with a number of tutoring agencies and can happily say that working with Tutor House has definitely been one of the most welcoming and enjoyable experiences I've had. I would recommend TH to anyone considering working as a tutor.

Bill Symes: A Tutor's Verdict on Tutor House

I am not ideally positioned to judge Tutor House in comparison to other agencies, but that very fact is a testimony to how happy I have been working for them and how effective they have been in supplying me with well-remunerated work of a suitable kind. Having joined up with them on leaving mainstream teaching three years ago, I simply haven’t felt the need or the inclination to look elsewhere for additional teaching.

The big advantages which TH possesses from a tutor’s perspective are, I think, three: they have a high profile in the marketplace and are therefore capable of providing plenty of tuition; once you have won their confidence by delivering good results and satisfied customers with your first few pupils, they endeavour to make sure that more work is pushed your way; and they strike the right balance between trust and supervision, leaving you to get on with the job in your own way and not burdening you with excessive administrative tasks but offering support and assistance whenever you require it.

This last aspect of their performance counts especially heavily with me. My previous school had by the time I left it become bureaucratically top-heavy, setting more store by efficiency of form-filling than by quality of teaching, so it was very refreshing to join an establishment whose priorities seemed healthily to reinstate the latter in a position of rightful centrality.

Let me finish with a word about the agency’s handing of the corona virus. Needless to say, it has been a period of great uncertainty for everyone, but Alex and Mya worked very hard to make arrangements with exam centres which guaranteed that its tutors’ predictions would be granted the same status as those of teachers at more conventional schools and colleges. In this way, they were able to ensure that the agency’s pupils received the grades they deserved and its tutors continued in employment almost as long as in a normal, uninterrupted year.

Tutor House - from a tutor’s perspective

As a tutor, working with Tutor House is a pleasure. The team go above and beyond to look after us, the tutors, and of course the students. Mya is there to answer every possible question and provide support whenever necessary and Alex is a wealth of knowledge about UCAS and university applications.

During the uncertain times we’ve come across due to coronavirus, the team at Tutor House have been so reassuring and helpful to ensure that we can continue to provide top quality education for our students. The staff are reliable and communicative and they truly care about providing the best service and opportunities for students. For tutors, all the administrative tasks are made easy. There is support for lesson planning, regular assessments, report writing. Rates are fair and invoices are always paid on time and quickly which can be quite rare in this industry.

Tutor House are one of the best tutoring companies that I have worked with in London and I would absolutely recommend Tutor House to any tutor, parent or student who needs any additional help or to a student who would prefer not to remain in mainstream school. The courses that Tutor House offer are brilliant, and students can work in groups or one-to-one with a tutor. I look forward to working with Tutor House again in August.

We needed a tutor to help our son get an A in English Literature A Level

We needed a tutor to help our son get at least an A in his English Literature A level to get what he needed for University. Tutor House were extremely helpful and helped with choice of exam board, and enrollment in a suitable exam centre for an independent candidate. The Tutor (Bill) was simply amazing and helped our son understand, appreciate and enjoy English Literature in a way that his school had not come close to managing to achieve. I have never seen our son as motivated and as well coached as he was by Bill.

If Covid had not come along, with his new found love for the subject I would have expected an A* for sure. As it happened Covid did come along and Bill kept our son motiated to learn and to put in the required work and Alex from Tutor House worked tirelessly to ensure that all the bits were put in place for an independent candidate to be assessed in the same way as he would have been if he had been at school. What could have been a disaster of a year turned out through Tutor House and Bill to be a major success for which we are very grateful.

I cannot speak highly enough of what Tutor House have done and achieved this year with my son.
