A scandal
A scandal, thieves!!!
An exchange rate of 1.47, to which they add in addition 15% of taxes!!! Of never seen
TO FLEE
They gave me £286 for €500, I almost lost €200 out of €500
Manifest theft
£100 exchanged for Euro and only got 80…
£100 exchanged for Euro and only got 80 euros, whereas I should have received about 115 euros; it is as if I their system applied exchanged rates in reverse. I feel cheated.
Good service by Kaushal

Great at Gatewick airport
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. As per other reviews total scammers, even scamming my poor 15 year old daughter who went in with a friend to change some euros. Was not told the conversion rate, just asked to hand over euros and passed back the sterling amount, she then called me to ask if the rate was reasonable, the equivalent of 30% in poor currency conversion and fees. Asked for a refund which they very rudely refused to my daugher who was very upset. I was told to email Head office with a receipt to ask for a refund they also refused. I have complained to the Financial Ombudsman. Both phone numbers on their website also don't work.
Worse exchange rates possible
Worse exchange rates possible. The wordings are not explicitly displayed and the exchange rate is just pure SCAM!!!
Avoid! Scammers
Circa 0.88 rate for Eur to GBP sounded reasonable, accepting that this is not going to be the cheapest option. But I was appalled to find that I was charged the reverse.. 0.88 Euros for every £.
I feel scammed. Unfortunately there will be plenty more people like me who fall for this.
Crooks.
Crooks.. Quoted me $102 US dollars for a £100. Lol Theft at the airport..told them to f.o..Good luck
Terrible service
Terrible service. No explanation, no breakdown, no chance to review anything. They took my $250 Canadian, worth around £136, and gave me only £97 — pocketing nearly £40 without saying a word. No mention of the rate, no info on fees. They processed it instantly and printed the receipt before I could ask anything.
When I argued, they offered a small amount extra just to make me leave, but refused to give the money back. No transparency, no consent — just a blatant rip-off. Avoid.
Scam of a Company
Scam of a Company – Stay Away!
I had a terrible experience at this money exchange booth in the mall today. I went in to exchange $250 Canadian to British pounds, fully aware that the online exchange rate showed I should receive around £137. The man behind the counter began counting out money, and stopped at just £97. I immediately told him that this wasn't right and mentioned the current rate I saw online.
At that moment, I had not agreed to proceed with the transaction. I was still trying to get my daughters’ attention and was in the process of calling my husband to double-check the numbers. Despite me clearly not confirming the transaction, the man handed me a receipt without my full consent. When I turned back and told him I wanted a refund, he refused and said, “That’s our rate, and that’s our policy.”
Keep in mind – I never left the store, and the money hadn’t been used, yet he wouldn’t reverse the exchange. After arguing for a while, he said he could give me £117 instead, claiming it was after deducting fees. I never agreed to that amount either, and made it clear I simply wanted my original $250 CAD returned, but he wouldn't budge.
This is completely unacceptable and feels like a scam. No transparency, no proper explanation, and zero customer respect. Forcing a transaction on someone before confirming agreement and refusing a refund is shady, unethical behavior.
Avoid this place at all costs. They take advantage of people who aren’t watching every step or who are trying to verify things first. Do your research and go somewhere reputable—this place is nothing but a scam operation.
On their official website it shows 250 CAD IS £115
Avoid this place
Avoid this place. Once they take your money, they’ll process the exchange straight away without asking if you’re happy with the rate. They don’t explain the exchange rate or mention any service or handling fees. Instead, they rush to print the receipt before you can say a word. You’re expected to calculate everything yourself — no transparency, no consent.
In my case, when I asked for my money back, the staff member offered me £20 extra to keep quiet. That says everything. One of the worst and most untrustworthy experiences I’ve had.
Thankyou
Thankyou! For a good experience getting my currency, kaushal at Gatwick airport
One star is far too much when it comes…
One star is far too much when it comes to raring! This is an absolute scam! At stansted airport I got 165 euros for £200 - absolutely ridicolous. I thought it was a mistake and went back to check but that what it was. Not even mentiong they are charging 5£ fee on tip of this ridiculous rate.
Do not use Atm to withdraw foreign…
Do not use Atm to withdraw foreign currency. Complete Rip Off. I withdrew $200 in Gatwick atm at extortionate rate of £1 equal $1. That was 30% lower currency rate. I am going to complain to trading standard for lack of clear transparent information at point of transaction.
RIP Off
Exchanged €60.00 in euros to Czech krona and received 800??? I think the guy clearly didn’t know the correct conversion. Diabolical
£2.49 charge to get £UK from UK bank account at NCL
arrived at newcastle aiport and immediately saw currency counter and a couple of ATMs under name of ChangeGroup. Notices on the machines tell customers of £2.49 charge for transactions.... that's to get £ from my uk bank!!! I don't know of anywhere else charging for cash in UK ATMs.... This is just exploiting people who've just got off plane or just arrived at the airport. BUT,,,, just beyond departures counters is another, freestanding ATM. Hey, that's ChangeGroup, too. But this time it's free... many thanks for that. But there's no excuse for customer exploitation at the other two, just by airport entrance and arrivals doors. Shame on you.
Gatwick ATM Link Machine Beware
We went to a Link machine at Gatwick Airport South Terminal to get some Euros before going to France. The ATM Link machine stated there was no fee. We were offered the option of letting our bank calculate the rate for GBP or opting for getting €300. When we got our cash the receipt stated 1 GBP = 0.8752 EUR which seemed about right. However the total cost was £342.78, not £262.56 as we could have expected. That is an effective charge of £80.22! About 30% charge!
I have tried to contact the company in case this was a computer program error (exchange rate wrong way round!?) but no one answers the phone line on their website and the advertised email address doesn’t exist (if it ever did).
So I wonder how this can be legal, and why Change Group is allowed onto the Bank Link network.
⚠️⚠️⚠️⛔️⛔️ DO NOT EXCHANGE ANY MONEY WITH…
⚠️⚠️⚠️⛔️⛔️ DO NOT EXCHANGE ANY MONEY WITH THEM ⛔️⛔️ Change Group at Gatwick Airport ⚠️⚠️ I don't know how are they allowed to operate and scam people. For £310 we got 270 Euros and the rate on that day was £1 - 1.19 Euros instead getting £373.43 we got 270 Euros...THIS IS A DAYLIGHT CRIME.
BEWARE DAYLIGHT ROBBERY !!
I’m struggling to understand my experience as at Newcastle airport we had a good exchange company until the ChangeGroup took over.
I changed just over £1000 of sterling into Moroccan dirhams last week and thought in my head 100 dirhams was around £8 which it is so when my exchange rate was 7.5 dirhams to the £ I thought it was about right !!
For someone who is normally very attentive on maths I could not have been more wrong and had mixed up my dirhams and £ rates which should have given me 12.43 dirhams to the £ if the official exchange or circa 12 if a company was going to make a small profit
However the change group want a 39% profit on the deal and yes I got my rate at 7.5 and not 12.43 !!
I feel incredibly stupid to have lost £400 on an exchange of cash and have written to the company MD and will write to the airport too. Customers MUST be made aware of this incredible rip off !
Maybe tomorrow I will hear the good news and they might offer a refund !! Let’s wait and see !!😢😢
Completely a rip-off
Completely a rip-off, avoid at any cost. I changed 100 dollars for £47 and was told no refund is accepted. An additional transaction fee of 14.96 % added. Avoid at any cost!
