Europe by train.

Hi, I must say that my journeys across Europe was very satisfactory.
The main object was to visit friends in Germany. Whilst doing this I saw many places which I have always wished to visit even briefly. Two nights were in "sleepers" which I found quite comfortable. Most of the trains were on time and the general condition of trains and stations were very clean and tidy. There were lot's of aids to help with connections and being a bit lame after surgery, l was very much cheered by the help offered by people youn and old. Thanks to them and all concerned with my travels..Ken H.

simple, efficient and easy to use!

I used the Voyages SNCF website to purchase my train ticket from Toulouse to Agen and it was easy and efficient. The ticket machine at the station was also easy to use, and I will definitely use the website again.

terrible service! -never again!

I booked first class day return Budapest to Vienna which turned into a nightmare.
It cost more than my return flight UK to Budapest and I had to pay £8 to have ticket delivered
Outward journey was delayed by 90 minutes, return was cancelled approx. five hours waiting.
In addition to this were extra costs and danger of physical harm.
On my return to UK, I phoned Voyages SNCF “helpline” – was told to register complaint online.
Three days later I got the reply that I had to send complaint in a letter to the office with my ticket.
I was advised to send this by registered post “at my own expense” I was told that the process would
“probably take months” All correspondence I received from VSNCF was very official and not helpful
or even concerned about my experience. It seems that they were trying to discourage any complaint.
I was told that their contract and liability ended when they sent out the ticket.
Their promise of a stress-free journey was certainly not kept.

-Two months later and have not had any reimbursement for my expensive journey - warned "it could take months"

Fantastic and easy way to travel

We were very surprised how easy and stress free it was, would highly recommend and we are planning to use this company again to explore more of Spain. Thank you for a great experience

Some problems this time

We often use SNCF from Paris to Spain (Barcelona) and it is usually pretty faultless. The outbound journey was fine but the return journey we had to change trains at Perpignon and then the train we got from there to Paris the food bar was closed and there was no water in the toilets to wash your hands which on a 6 hour journey is not good.

The worst train service I have ever encountered in the many countries I have travelled

Nantes to St Gilles 30th August service suspended ['due to a suicide'] so coach laid on but arrived at destination 2 hours late. 'Ok maybe not SNCF at fault there' we thought.
But the return journey 3rd September was even worse! Train delayed due to some 'techinical' difficulties stop-start-crawl-stop-start so eventually had to get off at an earlier stop and get a cab to avoid missing flight. Very stressful experience with very little information volunteered by the 3 train staff.

Excellent Service when delayed

Our train from Milan to Paris was disrupted due to a suicide. SNCF pulled out all the stops to make up lost time; the guard endorsed our tickets to ensure we could rearrange our Eurostar journey without problem; reps from the company issued packed lunches in Paris as compensation for the delay.

eTicketing OK - travel not.

Was not told that I had to exchange the e-ticket for a reservation ticket at Lisbon, only found that out by chance. Allocated 4 seats were not all in one group. Train time was earlier than on ticket - lucky we were there early! Signage at Lisbon was poor - took a while to find correct platform.

TGV still feels like the future

We chose to travel to Nimes by TGV instead of air deliberately, having gotten sick of the punishments inflicted on budget air travellers by security, seating etc,, to say nothing of the hassle of getting to out-of-the-way airports. We were mostly satisfied with our choice: the TGV itself was comfortable and fast, the price comparable to air, our arrival directly in the destination town. Our only complaints were:
1) connection in Paris between two rail stations at opposite sides of town (but travellers through London face same problem with both rail and airports).
2) catering on TGV nowhere near as good as we'd been told (premium class on return journey no better)
3) delayed return via Paris Eurostar caused by ongoing migrant/tunnel crisis in Calais, Not SNCF's fault, but rail is intrinsically more vulnerable than air to such.

A friend managed to get a straight through ticket via Lille instead of Paris - try for one if you can. Would still do it again.

Nice to St Raphael trip

I was experiencing difficulty in booking a train journey on the 19th November from Nice to St Raphael. Having already booked tickets online in July, I was concerned I couldn't book them as easily this time. I rang your office and a very helpful girl tried to book them but couldn't and transferred me to the "technical team". I was assisted by a very helpful man who I had earlier spoken to and he advised me how to book the tickets and was surprised that even he couldn't book them!! He was very very helpful even to the extent of advising how best to get from the airport to Nice St Augustin Station where apparently I have to get the last train to St Raphael on this particular day. The tickets arrived the next day. Well done

Terrible for anyone travelling with a bike unless you plan meticulously

Wanting to be 'green' we booked as a family of 4 to travel to Clermont Ferrand and return via Alres and Nimes to London for a cycling holiday. Unfortunately later we discovered that bikes needed to be booked onto Eurostar at £30 per bike per leg (and if not booked they could not travel on the same train as us), and couldn't be carried on some TGV, and had in any case to be booked by phone at the time of booking; that in some trains they needed to be in bike bags, on others it didn't matter; on some could only be carried if a certain size. It was a nightmare of complications and despite the fact that we discovered that our tickets were unrefundable we also discovered that it was still less expensive with all the fees for carrying bikes and getting bike bags to go by car, and so we gave up on the train and drove down to Clermont. It was all so much more simple.

Hi speed travel in Spain with confort and style!

Having lived in Spain for over twenty years we have traveled on there rail system many times and have always found that RENFE it efficient and reliable so had no problem in planning a trip from Madrid to Malaga so much more convenient than expensive and time consuming flying with the whole airport nightmare.

Since moving back to the UK we will still need to travel to and from Spain regularly and by chance we came across Voyages SNCF European rail booking service n the UK. This was our first experience of using their service and we have nothing at praise for them your tickets are via email at the time of booking with full information on how to get the the stations and any other relevant details. The station and boarding experience was easy and trouble free, far far easier than the horrors of the airport process.

The AVE train is a state of the art train technology with wonderful comfort and facilities including a cafe car. The train left exactly on time and there is strict allocated seating system make the thing very relaxing, its a case of no booked seat no travel! We reached unbelievable speeds of up to 335Km per hour as it speed through the Spanish landscape which was amazing with such a smooth ride. We arrived in Malaga in 2hours 25 minutes refreshed and relaxed, city center to city center, beats the aircraft any day! We are back in six week and have booked it again with Voyages which we highly recommend their service if you are planning a European rail journey much easier and cheaper than direct.
