Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 61 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently report an overwhelming number of adverts, often repeating, which severely interrupts their viewing. Many find the service unwatchable due to these constant interruptions, with some experiencing multiple ad breaks before any program content. Reviewers also face numerous technical problems, including programs skipping, freezing, failing to load, or crashing, making it difficult to watch shows from start to finish. However, some customers also noted that the platform offers good content and a wide selection of shows, with some enjoying specific series. Despite this, the overall experience is largely negative, leading many to abandon the service.

The saturation of the adverts

The app often just drops out and the total number of absolutely rubbish advertising ie about 10 plus a plug for other shows compared with the channel 5 app that would probably only have 2 or 3 adds and even itvx only has about half of the advertising U has and does not matter how many times I complain nothing changes but on the plus side you can get through to a human on the phone

Way too many ads

Way too many ads. 20 min program has about 30 ads or something. Also in the last 30 seconds of the show it just cuts to ads/next episode so you miss whatever is still happening.

Want a Billboard in your living room?

Everyone mentions a large amount of content and I get Ads have their purpose, but the U app just turns your screen into a digital billboard.
When you do get past the Ads, you get to watch a few minutes of the show you intended to watch, but don’t try skipping back or forward! The app goes to load ADs then crashes, forcing you to start again.

Very poor user experience.

Appalling

Positive - 1
-large content variety

Negative - 2 (and these will bug you to no end!!!!)
-8-9 adverts at a time (up to 30 sec long each).
-constantly skips to the next episode while watching bl**dy adverts.
So you end up first watching 3-4 adverts, app skips to the next . You try going back to original episode, you end watching another 5-8 adverts

U&Gold most boring tv

Well Christmas again and like every other year its 'on fools and horses' from dawn to dusk on U&Gold.
Its nice to see they are competing with ComedyCentral and 'Friends' for the most boring tv channel with lazy christmas time tv programming.

Maybe time to change people who plan these things, new year new job.....

Worse the ch4 app.

Oh my god. Worse than Ch4 app. Had to watch 9 ads before start of show, for the programme to buffer and refresh and then I had to sit through the ads again. What a joke. Lesson learnt. Make sure to remember to record programme.

Unwatchable due to frequency and volume of ads.

This streaming channel has some very good programmes, but is totally unwatchable because the the absolute saturation of adverts . . . often a batch of up to 9 adverts every few minutes. Plus endless 'adverts' sponsoring the channel, and endless trailers for other programmes on the channel. By far the very worst I've ever seen on any commercial channel be it 'live' or streaming. And no option to pay to go advert-free.

In addition, the U app is extremely unstable. Even with a state-of-the-art TV and superfast broadband, it frequently takes multiple attempts to load, often 'buffers' etc. etc.

As I say, unwatchable! If you want to watch something on the U app, record it or purchase the blu-ray/dvd!

Used to enjoy watching

Used to enjoy watching but now just takes the Mick with the number of adverts. Recently had TWO consecutive sets of 11 ads in the same break. I give up.

7 adverts 3 minutes into programme

7 adverts 3 minutes into programme. Then ten minutes if show then another 5 adverts. It ruins the whole viewing experience. Why like can’t it offer the same as itvx. No advert subscription. I have NEVER bought anything purely from watching a TV advert for it so it’s a waste of time.

It's a shocker

It's a shocker. Agree with all the other one star reviews. Very slow to load; frequently just "sticks" and says "refresh," which virtually never works; sometimes jumps back to the beginning without warning and/or, after an ad break, doesn't show the pictures; far too many ads. Such a shame - it has good programmes, but you need the patience of a saint to get to the end of one.

Every time there is an advert break the programme either jumps to the next episode or even 2 or 3 episodes ahead so you have to return to the home screen and start again and even then it repeats this cycle 2 or 3 times! Sometimes it can take 10 minutes to get back to where you were in the programme! Absolutely rubbish streaming service. Completely frustrating....

Too m any ads

Too many ads.It feels like I'm the product not the consumer 2-5 ads is fair enough but 12 irrelevant ads is a blatant cash grab at the expense of my time. My time has been monetized for profit and I don't even get a cut of the revenue MY TIME GENERATES

Too many ads

Good content with a very good selection, but totally ruined by all the CONSTANT ADVERTS! Far too many ads in one break, I wouldn't mind 2,3 or even 4 or 5 ads - but they go on and on and on...!!! You lose any fluidity, and so you lose interest.
Unfortunately the whole thing spoils your watching experience.
Don't bother, you'll just end up switching it off!

More adverts than programmes!

More adverts than programmes!
Also, keeps jumping on all devices - not just in our house but friends too. Other streaming platforms don't do this. Internet speed is really good so not this that's causing it. End up missing bits of the programmes regularly.
Also can't get all the channels on the tv to watch live - didn't have this problem until a few weeks ago.
We don't bother watching U anymore, despite there being some decent content, plenty of others out there.
