The location is unreal with epic views over the Dyfi valley and Cadar Idris. Easy to get to Machyllenth and Dyfi forest. Superbly well done off-grid living, which helps you disconnect but still plenty... See more

Couldn't be more pleased with Under The Thatch. Beautiful properties, ethical company, transparent pricing. Probably our best ever selfcatering experience, from booking right through to the property itself (which was amazing). We'll be using them again for certain.

Truly memorable holiday break in a quite stunning property

Quick and easy to view full information for the property I wished to book, lots of relevant information for the property and local area. I especially liked the information about owners and renovators. Easy to see availability and prices, great website for checking my booking once completed and lots of contact information should any issues arise in the future.

Dreadful smell of oil from boiler which had recently been serviced, we were informed by the owner but never expected it to be so bad, even in the bedroom above the utility where the boiler was.
Quality and size of towels, one hand towel and bath towel each, worn passed their best; a bath sheet following showers is an essential, bath towel way too small.
Sadly not even a couple of tea bags to greet guests!

We really enjoyed our time at Wendy. It was helped by the lovely weather. Wendy was warm and comfortable especially with the log burner going. All the essentials were there. We will definitely be returning later in the year.

We have just spent 6 nights in Teach Mhici - our 3rd visit and it certainly won’t be our last. Everything about this place is special- the cottage, the views, the beach and the tranquility. A wonderful spot to relax and recharge your batteries.

Wow! What a wonderful place. Ned and Sophie, our most gracious hosts, have lovingly and sympathetically restored this ancient cottage (once derelict), and done a tremendous job. We were looking for a character cottage in a peaceful setting and this did not disappoint. The log burner was our TV and there was a very generous supply of logs provided. We enjoyed the ambiance, admiring the beamed ceiling in the lounge, watching the log fire and listening to medieval music.
The attention to detail with freshly cut flowers in every room was very much appreciated – what a wonderful touch! It felt so homely and very welcoming, modern day comforts with the splendour of the traditional charm of bygone days. The bed was very comfy too. The cottage certainly was worth every penny. We also appreciated the complimentary beers and waffles – lovely!
It was very interesting to learn of Ned’s numerous other projects and his wealth of expertise in the field of restoration.
However, the icing on the cake was a visit from the adorable, very fluffy Charlie, the inquisitive family cat and that just made the holiday complete! Purr-fect!! Thank you Ned and Sophie for a wonderful retreat. Diolch yn fawr!

The cottage was hard to find long way down a long track we were lucky we had 4x 4 truck as wet and muddy near cottage. Cottage very cosy but at night very hot in bed needed window open dressing table hardtop see in mirror too far away and hard tiles hurt my feet had to buy soft mat to stand at sink and sink needs a bowl as glasses break on ceramic . The cottage very clean and comfy beds and noones to bother you we did turn up at wrong cottage few times but enjoyed our stay .

Under the Hatch were very efficient when booking Penbont and answered a couple of questions quickly. They are very friendly and offer a great service.

A stylish and comfortable cottage. Beautifully quiet with great views, and within easy reach of all amenities.

The booking process is rather clunky; you pay the deposit and there is all sorts of warning on how you may lose your deposit if not paid in full on time and yet there is no easy way of paying the balance.
They don't respond to email queries about the property before booking. The chat is the same. Getting through by telephone takes several attempts. I ended up finding the owner's email through his other business to get the answers I was after.
On top of all that, to book the same property, Under The Hatch has raised its charges. Really makes me wonder what they do to deserve these charges; certainly not worth it for the renter.

Ty Rownd is a beautiful cottage. It's like home from home. The cottage was very cozy, especially with the addition of Christmas trees and light. Lots of beautiful walks near. We will be returning. Thank you.

Very comfortable, beautifully decorated gate house on a grand estate that has been in the same family for 1000 years, owners’ manor house just behind. Close to Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the English/Welsh border.

Easy to book and lovely selection of properties. A couple of friends have since mentioned using UTT too.
We had to contact UTT during our stay and they were very responsive, passing on our query to the owners straight away who then later contacted us directly to discuss. Really appreciated that.

What a magical place, from the drive down the road less travelled to the fairy lit trees over the road. The extraordinary dining/music/viewing room leading through to the lounge, which lives up to its name. We had a wonderful stay and are about to book again. Something we rarely do usually liking to try new places.

Recently booked a getaway for my wife, newborn and dog in December to bond as a family and relax away from London.
Our booking was cancelled 3 weeks in advance because the owners wanted to increase the price over that period and were not happy with the price that we had secured the deal at.
Whilst the company offered us alternatives, they were not quite the same or nearby, and as we had already arranged transport and a break from work, we had to use an alternative company for our trip.
Whilst Underthethatch tried to offer alternatives, the service wasn’t good enough and a more robust policy should be in place whereby owners cannot change the price within 4-weeks of an already booked stay.
Frustrating.
