The communication and the customer…

The communication and the customer service is misleading and rubbish.
You get a price from Colin then you get another call from some unprofessional woman that couldn’t care less about customers saying the price I was given was all wrong and minimum orders was needed and the price was way higher than the quote I was given. I’d rather go else where. If stay well clear from them.

Hi Rasha, we're sorry for your experience with us and we acknowledge a recently introduced minimum order value for some areas has caused confusion.

We can see from our records we did give you a price range in the form of an estimate, then we arranged an appointment for your free design and quotation. Our new minimum order value for some areas came into affect after your estimate and before your appointment. In an attempt to do the right thing, we contacted you before the planned appointment to make you aware...we felt it would be wrong to let the appointment take place and then inform you.

A bit of context...this month alone we've experience nearly 50 cancelled appointments where we've travelled to a customers home and they have informed us at that late stage they no longer wanted an appointment. In addition to this, we've experienced many additional cancellations due to Covid. It's a big investment to offer a free service and we've had to take the temporary measure to introduce something for areas further afield from our team members. Not an easy decision to take and not ideal that it impacted a few customers already engaged with us.

With hindsight, we should have serviced everyone already engaged with us and only applied this to brand new enquiries...we accept that would have been a better approach and offer our apologies again.

Given we should have taken a different approach, we are prepared to honour our original estimate if you would like to see our fab range of shutters. Shutters is all we do, no other window covering, allowing us a deep expertise that few can rival. We take great pride in doing an amazing job as our service reviews demonstrate...we just got this decision/approach wrong and I take personal responsibility.

The worst!!

The worst!!
Was given a quote by email then I get a call saying they have a minimum order which was £900 more then the quote I got. They are scammers. And the woman that called was rude abs couldn’t even care less.

Great experience - would recommend!

Great experience from initial site survey to installation. All communication, both face to face and via email was friendly and professional. Justina Street kept me regularly updated from first visit to installation. The installer Jake did a great job. He was punctual, professional & very tidy! I am very pleased and the finished product exceed my expectations.

Colin- absolute shambles of a ‘business’ owner

I enquired via Facebook and engaged in a discussion to try and arrange an appointment in November 2021, unbeknown told me I was dealing with Colin, the owner, so you would have expected him to know how his company operates but clearly this was expecting too much. This is what happened:
- I was misadvised by Colin as to the service provided by the company as he told me no measurements were needed when I explicitly asked the question only to find out later this wasn’t the case - communication doesn’t seem to be their forte ;
- I was promised a call on Thursday 25th November which never happened - he initially apologised and then, a week or so later, changed his tune and informed me that he had call records to prove this. I am notified by sms by my network provider for any attempted calls made and I received none and no voicemails were left - Colin is clearly dishonest in his dealings and has no idea how his company even operates
-when he called me to discuss after I explained I was unhappy with the service and the time I had wasted with him and his firm, he laughed in my face and I simply do not tolerate being literally laughed at when explaining how I perceived his service on our call- he was rude, patronising , chauvinistic and arrogant. I had to pick him up on that 3 times at least. He should not engage in that type of behaviour as it’s not acceptable .

I aldo did mention it wasn’t a convenient time to speak when he called (out of the blue may I add) as I was working from home and he had zero regard for that and forcefully tried to justify himself - he had the wrong tone, attitude and demeanour - I would urge him and all his staff to polish up on customer service if they are trying to deal with customers or proposed customers, as their attitude would certainly put me off.

In summary, I wasted weeks with him and this shabby firm, and I could have sorted everything by now if it wasn’t for their slow and inefficient service and misleading advertisement- to be spoken to like that by anyone, never mind someone who should be providing a service is beggars belief.

Needless to say, I will not be recommending them and I enquired with many other firms and my experience was so very different. Stay away from these people

We are sorry about your experience with Universal Shutters and specifically with myself, the Owner.

Whilst I don't recall our discussions vividly, I do recall speaking with you and concluding our telephone call that we both felt it wouldn't be right to move forward with an appointment.

Because I can't recall everything in detail, it was quite some time ago, I can only acknowledge how unhappy you felt and offer an apology for any communication on my part that led to you feeling my behaviour was sub-standard.

I remember our conversation being challenging and feeling a little like we were going round in circles. It's not my nature to behave in some of the ways you've described and would like to distance myself from some of your comments that I consider to be somewhat unfair. I was working with feedback from you, feedback from my team, our own conversations and attempting somehow to find some common ground. I couldn't have done a good job at finding a solution because we ended up with us agreeing it was best to leave things.

I'm a great believer in context being everything and it really does take two people to want to find a solution to misunderstanding and disagreement. Having said that, I'm the owner and I take it as a personal failure that things didn't work out. I'm sorry and will happily express that if you would like to discuss this further.

Fabulous High Quality Shutters

We had our shutters installed in November and are delighted with the results. Having looked at a number of suppliers I felt that Universal Shutters were very knowledgeable about what would work with our windows and also had an attention to detail that other suppliers lacked. The quote was competitive for a really high quality product. There was quite a long lead time (no fault of universal shutters) but we were kept up to date on potential dates throughout the process. The fitting process was excellent, the fitter was extremely neat and tidy. Would highly recommend.

Really happy with the overall service and communication I received. However I didn't quite receive what I was expecting, I was advised the shutter split would be where the top and bottom window meet but it's in the middle.

Jake fitted our shutters a few days ago…

Jake fitted our shutters a few days ago efficiently, and cleaned up afterwards really well. I am still getting used to shutting them the right way, they look fine but soon realise the light is coming in so have to open and shut correctly! Overall we are very satisfied with our purchase. Thank you

Despite delays...great work👍🏻

Busy times... They have been 3 weeks late, thought I will take one star off for each week delay hut neah... Oh, and one of the windows, we are struggling a bit to open/close, (even if I have a small hand 😄) because the shutter is very close to the limit, luckily not quite at the limit... Apart of that, everything went well. They look great and we love them. We would recommend Universal Shutters.

Shutters just installed and we are really pleased with the way they look. They were a long time coming but it was worth the wait! Universal Shutters have been excellent and a pleasure to do business with. They kept us updated throughout the process and I would definitely recommend them if you are considering shutters

5 Star recommendation for Universal Shutters

Customer service is outstanding from start to finish. Timings were spot on as was communication, thank you Justina, your customer care is second to none. There was no over sale, Dan was just really helpful and made great recommendations - as a result the shutters look amazing and have transformed my rooms. Great job by the fitter Jamie who was extremely polite, helpful and not a spot of mess left behind. Excellent from start to finish. 😁
