Get a professional UX Design Certificate
I really enjoyed the UX Design course that I did in the UX Design Institute.
Personally, I took some UX online courses and Bootcamps online, but alas the recruiting teams in all of the companies need a proper certificate. That is the main reason why I took the course.
Compared to other courses that I took, this one was quite inclusive and focused on the main topics that are relevant to professional UX Designers, and on top of that, you get actual experience and a finished product to post on your portfolio.
I have completed the Professional…
I have completed the Professional Diploma in UX Design. Overall, I would say it is not worth the money. The course is heavy on videos and more of an introduction and ironically the learning platform's user experience is not great. You only have access to the material for 1 year and it's mainly videos you cannot download. You will not get feedback on your projects unless you attend the webinars where you specifically ask for it. The course gives you a good base understanding of UX, but it is unlikely that you will get a job with this qualification unless you already work in front-end and/or have a relevant degree. The content of this course could be learned for much cheaper or even free, so you are effectively paying for the certificate and for someone to set deadlines for you. The webinars are useful and there is short 1:1 coaching if you need help with your CV or Portfolio which is good. But I have some ethical concerns about the company:
- They are misleading customers. UX is a very competitive field and not easy to get into. This qualification itself will not be sufficient if you are thinking of changing your career. You will also need a good level of IT knowledge, especially some graphic design skills to complete the projects.
- The price on the website is always presented as "early bird" price that will end soon which is a cheap marketing trick and already makes you question the integrity of the company. I was fully aware this when I bought the course, but I do personally know someone who found a job in UX and did this training, so that gave me hope. This was a few years ago though when the market was not this saturated. Now, hundreds of people have done these type of courses and bootcamps, so it is really hard to stand out.
The best choice to develop your skills and gain confidence
As a senior UX designer with many years of experience, I chose to study with UXDI because I felt they were transparent before starting the learning journey with them.
The courses are prepared by top industry designers, and accredited by Glasgow Caledonian University. Your certificate can be used for RPL—recognized prior learning. This means every credit counts if you want to attend for a bachelor's degree or master's degree at a university. With the certificate, you are recognized as a professional in the European Union and Scotland.
Once I started studying I observed the course content was easy to digest and straightforward. This course transformed my thinking, even though I was aware of the digital design industry. Why? Because of the course content clearly explains industry principles and methods, and shows you bad and good examples.
The course is also practice-oriented, offering exercises based on what you learn, which helps you to get confident and experienced. It also helps you to deliver and craft conscious work, driven by people's input.
The student success team is one of the best experiences I ever had in my life, they are supportive, and always open to guide you. They organize various workshops to review your exercises and talks where they invite industry experts.
The exam experience was a straightforward one. They offer you all the instructions needed to sit the exam.
At the end, I want to say that I tried many courses on the internet, but my experience with UXDI was exceptional.
Why?
Everybody around me supported me and was surprised by my knowledge. And this made me continue shaping myself with them, by studying for a professional certificate in user research.
Yup, the courses may be expensive and don't offer you a job. But if you truly want the experience of a UXDI course prepare yourself for it. Be ready to listen and understand.
You can start saving, and I am sure you can negotiate the price or the way you want to pay for any course with the sales team. They will find the best solution for you, because they are humans too, and they value the ones who are interested in putting their time and dedication to work.
UXDI goes the extra mile
UXDI goes the extra mile! The design of the course itself is a masterclass in user experience. The content is very informative, and the structure of the course around a design project is essential for developing a key piece in your portfolio. The support from the team is fantastic, and the ability to finish it in your own time over the course of a year is so convenient.
A Genuine Learning Experience
Brutal honesty here - no online course is ever perfect and it will never teach you everything you need to know all at once.
However, the content included in this course gives you a pretty decent foundation to build on; with assignments that ACTUALLY utilise the knowledge you pick up along the way for hands on practice.
Granted, the first, second and maybe even third project, I felt like I was in the deep end, like I wouldn’t complete this course… however by the fifth project and especially the final prototype build submission, I felt somewhat comfortable with where I was.
The support given by the Student Success Team, particularly Shashank and the wonderful Kelly was second to none. There’s a large amount of students onboarding each month, so they definitely have their hands full! But those two specifically were fantastic to me and gave me a lot of their time to answer questions, review my work and give me precious feedback.
My only complaint would be the ‘feedback webinars’, sometimes it felt very generic or rushed, but it was expected, again due to the amount of students at one time on the course. For me this was again made up by the ongoing support from the Student Success Team.
It could be worth decreasing numbers at a time slightly to focus more on students, however my experience wasn’t dampened by this.
I still have my exam to complete but I’ve really enjoyed the course personally, there’s always going to be negatives with anything but the positives definitely outweigh it.
Is it expensive for an online course? Yeah it is, but if you can afford it and want to really get to grips with the basics of UX Design, along with accredited certification at the end, then it’s worth it.
Will it land you a job immediately? No, but that’s not the courses responsibility, it’s yours to put yourself out there and show off the work you’ve created throughout your studies.
The video modules can sometimes feel tedious and some projects can feel time consuming, but I can safely say I have learned so much from doing this and I’m glad I did it.
Great education platform
I made the professional UX course. Is complete, up to date, based on knowledge and resources about where the information came from are always available.
Great follow up on Slack and after finishing the course with career advise. Webinars and extra information about the UX field are available and encouraged to take.
Like all on-demand education programs big part of the experience is what you make out of it. If you are looking for someone to constantly be on top of your doings it might not be the place. But the students success team is always available and happy to help.
UX Design Institute gave me the…
UX Design Institute gave me the foundation for learning UX and UI design that are relevant for aspiring UX/UI Design job/role. After finishing the whole course and passing the exams, they'll guide you all throughout with mentorship.
Thank you very much UX Design Institute.
Amazing career support
This course gave me strong understanding of UX within a buisness context. It gave me a better understanding of what employers would expect from someone who is working in UX.
The career guidence was super constructive and gave me a real insight into how to improve my portfolio and get noticed by recruiters.
Diploma of high standard
I have just completed the Professional Diploma in UX Design with UX Design Institute.
In-depth content and UX concepts are well-explained and made accessible to people from all walks of life and careers. I appreciate that the institute ensures the content of the course is up-to-date and responds to the current trends in the industry.
I appreciated the logical structure of the course, student support and knowledgeable tutors. I enjoyed live webinars from the real UX professionals from big brands who shared with us their experience.
Regarding time commitment for this course, if you have no experience in UX or UX-related industry, you should expect 12 months to complete the course. If you are a somewhat experienced UX’er, then you should be able to complete the course in 6 months.
Also, I feel that the quality of the feedback for the students could be improved and be more informative than they are now.
Overall, I highly recommend this place. I would consider doing more courses with the UX Design Institute.
Great platform, very good courses!
I followed the UX Fundamentals course and am very pleased with the way of working! There is enough time and the explanation videos are clear and crisp. You will be answered quickly and friendly with your questions and will ultimately receive a real certificate. So great!
Not perfect, but definitely worth it.
As a whole the course was great. The case study options were interesting, the project work itself and exam was challenging but not impossible for a complete beginner like myself, and it was an overall fun and informative course.
The reason for it not being a 5 star is due to the simple fact that there were a couple things that could have been improved. For example: the support given and the provided information for each project. I feel like for each project they could have explained better what was needed to be done, could have provided examples and could have given additional information which may be helpful in the form of a PDF for example.
Apart from this, the life time of access to Slack is amazing, the career calls are awesome, the ability to message for support on Slack is great and it was a joy to be apart of.
Quality.
If you come to learn here, you have come to the right place. If you come to acquire the depth of the field of UX/UI and Content Design, you have come to the right place. If you are not here and are debating whether to study here or elsewhere, that too is natural. Don't be surprised if you find yourself signing up for this institute.
I studied here.
Designer, writer, scholar, playmaker.
I highly recommend the UX Design Institute
This was a fantastic experience. I just completed the Professional Diploma in UX Design and if you're on the fence, I highly recommend you take the course. The staff are incredibly knowledgable, approachable and helpful.
The course material is well structured and takes you through the UX process, all the way from Research through to Design. The mix of video tutorial and project work allow you to understand and retain the knowledge needed to progress in this ever-changing industry.
To think that 6 months I didn't have much knowledge of UX and now I am confident enough to apply for jobs in this field. Incredible!
If you want to learn UX/UI, I highly recommend the UX Design Institute
I have completed both the Professional Diploma in UX Design the Professional Certificate in UI Design in 2023. Both courses are comprehensive and well thought-out with videos and project examples which provided me with enough knowledge and skills to hit the ground running as a Product Designer.
The courses are self-paced with plenty opportunity to work with other students if you choose to do so. The student success team for both courses were super friendly and always willing to help. Having regular feedback sessions really helped to make sure that my work was on track and that my projects were on par with what is expected from me and what other students are doing.
Our friendly student advisor for the UI course, Dee was always super helpful and forthcoming with additional links to resources that helped me complete the projects. The way she provided video feedback on projects contributed to my confidence and motivation to complete this diploma without feeling stressed!
I highly recommend both course in terms of the quality of content and support, ig you are thinking of making a career change or considering design as a career path.
Good Courses with Good Project Work
I've undertaken the UX Design course, and I'm currently undertaking the Content Design course.
Both courses have been fantastic overall. As you learn, you can apply new knowledge to specific course projects.
I already had a job in UX when I undertook the UX Design course, but it definitely helped bolster my UX understanding and gave me additional confidence.
One minor gripe I have is the cut-off times for access to the content of the courses. Unfortunately, it's a limitation of their current LMS platform and paying a monthly fee per user; it's not sustainable to give lifetime access to everybody. Anything you can download you can keep forever. You can't download the videos though.
The UXDI team are a bit hands-off with communication - you can ask questions anytime and they respond in a timely manner, but you won't have 1-1 lessons or that kind of thing.
They do have webinars throughout the courses and slack channels, but the slack channels are pretty quiet sadly.
You need a lot of self-motivation to complete the courses.
Good but in hindsight think overpriced
Have completed all the modules and will be sitting the exam shortly.
The content is good and I would say I have learned a great deal from the course, including practical skills - wireframing, prototyping in Figma etc. I'm not sure who the people are on the website who claim to be getting jobs with this diploma. Esp for someone like me with no background in design I think it's highly unlikely to get into UX even with this due to the competitive market.
That being said the content is good and has given me a good understanding. The course is made up mainly of videos, with webinars you can attend and onbviously the actual project work you need to submit.
I wouldn't pay £2k for this course in hindsight. The video learning is quite boring. Maybe some more interactive learning would be nice.
I would reccomend on the basis of the support and the breadth of knowledge but not for the price.
It's worth it.
It's a great resource, I learned a lot and the final project for the diploma was great. I don't mind it being an online platform and learning through video. I do think the platform needs updating a bit so it can be a bit more interactive, maybe videos that play along tasks to complete.
I think it would benefit having a different presenter each module rather than course, just so you feel like you are progressing. All kind of merged into one.
If I was going to have one small gripe, I feel some of the exam questions were based on the optional further reading as they weren't in the course, not everyone can afford all the books in 6 months while paying for the course.
I would also suggest the UI course is somehow upgraded to a diploma, and be able to link into the final project in the UX course. All the UX jobs rightly or wrongly are UX/UI together, so it would be valuable to have more in-depth knowledge.
YouTube level learning
YouTube level learning. Not efficient learning experience for what it is.
You don't have life long access either.
It's just not worth the amount of money.
(I bought a UX course in 2020)
The course and the support is excellent
Taking the UX diploma program was one of the best decisions I've made recently. The courses were passed across in an easy to learn format. Walking through case studies from beginning to end is another good thing it offers. Talking about the support you receive from the staff, it's massive! I've tried taking a UX program somewhere else before that unfortunately failed so I'm glad I went with UXDI.
The career advisor support I have been…
The career advisor support I have been given with the UXDI has been outstanding. Thanks to their help I have landed my first job in the field!
