Stop comparing: go for the UXD course

If you are currently comparing UX/UI Certificate courses: stop and settle for the UX Design Institute. I followed the extensive UX Design Professional Diploma and the UI specialization course afterwards. Turned out to be the best decision I could have made. The course is very well structured, with interesting modules that are pleasant to follow, clear assignments that prepare you to build your first interface. They offer loads of additional resources, such as a carefully curated shortlist of no-nonsense blog articles, live webinars with industry experts, book suggestions, weekly group calls etc etc.
They improved the final feedback/grading and now provide you a personal video recorded review of your work.

Especially the portfolio calls at the end of the UX course were a great help to land my first job in UX, I had 3 calls in total. The advisor focussed on helping me get my case more concise, providing me direction and input what to improve.

The market has become very competitive but I feel their realistic approach and support gets you well through. Colleagues from my current company took a look at the UI materials and followed my learning process– they were amazed by the level of professionalism.

My only remark: the timeframe they communicate is not realistic. If you want to fully engage and learn in order to create a solid interface that is portfolio worthy, it is impossible to do this course next to a full time job.

However, whenever they release a UX Management course or something related to strategy, I'm in!

Great courses, industry insights and fantastic people

As a professional educational provider, I really cannot recommend the UX Design Institute enough.

I speak from experience as I’ve completed both their UX and UI Design courses with the UX Design Institute. I’m now studying the Content Design course.

In each of these courses, I’ve found the:

• learning materials to be engaging
• lessons to follow industry standards
• student support team to be incredibly helpful and accommodating
• feedback to be insightful and objective

The course structure is well-designed. It gives you the flexibility to complete lessons and projects in your own time. While not feeling the normal pressures of studying. The video lessons are engaging and provide an understanding of industry-standard practices.

While studying in the courses, you’re also encouraged to look at the subject outside of your educational materials. This approach ensures you build an understanding of what is happening in the industry while you learn. It’s a forward-thinking approach to providing students with a well-rounded understanding of the area they’re studying in.

A special mention goes to the UXDI student success team. You’ll not encounter nicer or more helpful people anywhere. They really are lovely. And a pleasure to study with. They go above and beyond to guide you in your studies. And ensure you get what you want out of the course. They’re insightful, knowledgeable and always on hand to do what they can to help you.

If you’re considering studying with the UX Design Institute, I recommend you go for it.

Exceptional Online UX Diploma

The UX Design diploma hosted by the UX Design Institute is an exceptionally well-designed online course. I successfully completed the course over a 6-month period, appreciating the flexibility of self-paced learning that allowed me to fit it into my professional schedule.

With 9 years of experience in the product and design field, I had the practical knowledge, but I was missing a structured approach to the technical design process. This course deconstructed complex design elements, providing clear insights, practical examples, and project-based learning.

The amazing support I received from the student success team during my studies was like nothing I have ever experienced with online learning. The team were always available to offer guidance/mentoring and addressed all queries comprehensively. The webinars hosted by UXDI with industry-experienced instructors shared invaluable examples, and the active slack community was a great way to network and engage with other students.

Completing the course while working as a Digital Product Manager paved the way for me to apply for a promotion to Deputy Head of Product & Design. The qualification, coupled with my experience, played a pivotal role in securing my new position. The courses’ exceptional quality motivated me to grow my qualifications by enrolling in the certificate in content design. If you're interested in UX or want to level up, check out UXDI!

After recently completing my UX Diploma…

After recently completing my UX Diploma through UXDI, I would like to give my thanks to the team particularly to Cathal and Kelly for their incredible support.

It has been a long journey for myself particularly with working full-time, however my efforts have all been worth it with receiving grades for my practical and overall grade well into the ninety to a hundred percentage range.

For those thinking of starting the Professional Diploma in UX, it is well worth the money. The structure of the course is detailed making it easy to learn through online videos.

Many video tutorials are provided for each module, with the opportunity to register for the live mentor sessions. Each of your module assignments can be reviewed by a Professional UX mentor with advice given and suggested improvements prior to submitting.

The support from Eoghain in careers is excellent. Guidance is provided on writing your UX C.V and support for developing a UX portfolio too. Everything is available for you to step onto your new career ladder.

I am sure with the knowledge and support from the course, I am well on my way to a new career in UX.

Thank you!

I am currently studying for a UX Diploma with UXDI

I am currently studying for a UX Diploma with UXDI. The course has been very thorough and also manageable to complete when working full-time. The Slack channel to network and access to student support via tutors has been amazing. Regular webinars are available to view other students’ work and get feedback on your own. I cannot speak highly enough of the support offered. I am currently having careers advice to help apply for jobs and to develop my portfolio. A massive thank you to all the team at UXDI.

UXDI diploma in UX design - this will set you up!

What a fantastic company with knowledgeable and helpful staff! I did the UXDI’s university-accredited UX Diploma and literally walked into a job! The course is structured so that you take a project through the full UX cycle, so by the time you finish, you’re not only confident you can do the job, you also have a portfolio. It’s perfect for anyone just starting out, or looking to sharpen their skills. I would highly recommend.

Thoughts on the Professional UI Course

I recently completed a UI course at the UXDI, and overall, it was an enlightening experience. The instructors, provided a solid foundation of UI principles and were pivotal in ensuring that the curriculum was timely and relevant to the current design landscapes. The webinars with industry leaders were really amazing, one that stuck with me was having the pull to have Design advocates from Figma come and give us pointers on how to use Figma better.

Here's what I've realized: like many things in life, what you invest in this course is directly proportional to what you gain. It's essential to understand that personal growth in a field like design requires more than just passive learning. The course provided a plethora of resources, including supplementary readings. But, to truly harness the potential of these offerings, one must be proactive. It's the sum of these resources, combined with personal effort, dedication, and practice that brings real value.

My thirst to better myself and the knowledge that personal initiative plays a pivotal role in learning made me engage deeply with the course materials, seek feedback, and constantly iterate. This proactive approach was reflected in feedback from my tutor: 'I sincerely appreciate the fact that you are the first person to provide me with a revised version after grading. Your initiative is truly valued and I am grateful for it. The modifications you’ve made have significantly elevated the quality of your work. It's truly outstanding and looks absolutely fantastic!' Dee, in particular, deserves a special mention for the insightful feedback I received. Their guidance was instrumental in refining my skills and helping me develop a discerning eye for design nuances.

One aspect of the course structure I felt could be improved upon was the inclusion of peer reviews. Engaging in such collaborative feedback sessions would have provided opportunities to learn from each other and practice spotting nuances in design — discerning what we'd executed right or wrong. In a professional setting, design is not just about creating and submitting to a client; it's an iterative process often shaped by multiple perspectives.

To anyone considering this course: if you're looking to merely pass time or gain a superficial understanding, this might not be for you. But if you're passionate about UI, eager to expand your skills, and willing to invest the effort, then this course can be a priceless asset. Remember, the quality of your outcome often mirrors the quality of your input."

UX Diploma and UI Certificate courses

Their UX and UI courses are exceptionally adept at simplifying complex concepts. The examples shared by industry-experienced instructors are top-notch and help a lot. The Student Success team is awesome – they guide you all the way and provide valuable mentorship during your learning journey. The courses are super organized and the hands-on projects are great for reinforcing what you learn. What's cool is that they have special Slack channels and knowledgeable staff ready to help with any questions.

When it comes to landing a job, it depends on how dedicated you are to improving your projects. The courses give you a solid foundation, but the only downside is that you can only access the course content during the study period, not forever. However, they still support you through Slack and the student career team even after you finish the course, which is a big plus. What's particularly appealing is that even if you're new to this field, the courses provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to be job-ready.

UI Course Review!

After just finishing the UI Design Institute course I wanted to say how incredible it's been for me in furthering my career. I'd love to shout out Dee in particular, who has been SO supportive and speedy at responding when I've needed feedback or support. I've learnt alot along the way and i'm excited to see where my career goes off the back of the course.

Great courses, great people

I've completed 2 courses with the UX Design Institute, and well on my way to completing my 3rd. I love the courses - easy to access and laid out in a way that makes sense. Relevant information presented by industry leaders.

On top of that, any interaction with the people at UXDI has been amazing. Always responsive, helpful, and fun to interact.

Really loved the course

The content is in-depth but easy to understand and the flow of what is taught when is great. Much like any other course, what you put in is what you will get out. There is a Slack platform where you can speak to other students or the UXDI team which is really useful; and communication via email is also great! With regards to finding a job in UX, I am not sure as I am still finishing my portfolio, but we get 1:1 career calls to guide us. You can't expect an Institution to guarantee a job, but if you do all the projects to your full potential and study for your exam for a good mark, then both parties have played their part in your future.

Practical, pragmatic UX design from hands-on UX professionals

I'm rather surprised by some of the negative reviews and my assessment it has to do with expectations. Yes, there are a lot of different courses out there with different type of set-ups. It all depends what you want to get out of a course. First things first, I selected the Professional Diploma in UX Design with UXDI after a careful selection, consulting people in tech and UX design. My requirements were clear: I needed an affordable course and I wanted an acknowledged accreditation. In terms of material, I knew I wanted to get into UX design but was not sure at what end of the spectrum. At that time, an accreditation with the renowned NN Group was only possible if I would travel to the US for a week for over 8,000 Euros. My husband, who has worked in tech for years, checked with the head of UX design he had just hired. He said the NN Group was mostly a name in the industry, but not crucial to get into UX. Thus I looked at UXDI, the only university-accredited UX design diploma, with an impressive board from tech industry leaders. The UX designers I asked, couldn't think of a suitable course: most of them started out in graphic design and just gravitated towards user experience design before it became known as such. My husband looked at the curriculum of the five courses I had shortlisted and felt that the UXDI course was the most complete, as it spans the whole spectrum in UX design. I was very lucky when COVID-19 hit the world, that it was an online course so I could proceed. It was even better as I was working 90% at the time in content and content management, so I could study in the evenings and weekends. And yes, I also hate the proctor exams, I nearly lost my mind because the webcam didn't want to work. After 30 minutes of useless going back and forth with the proctor, a tech support guy called me and fixed it in 2 minutes (Mac people, check your permissions for Chrome in your settings). The reason is to comply to university accreditation, remote proctors are set up for university students. They do the same proctors do in real life at university: watch people take an exam and making sure they wouldn't cheat.

On the subject of job prospects: I was lucky, I switched jobs within the same profession, and just started to do UX work and within half a year of getting my Professional UX diploma with UXDI, I did UX research and design for a European website. Less than a year after getting my diploma, I am now the UX lead within the online communications team, working on the corporate website rebuild and advising other teams. On the subject of support: during the course I had direct, personal and professional support from the support team (Kelly, Aiofe!) and afterwards from the career advisor on job profiles and through a webinar. What sets UXDI apart in my view, is that UXDI is made up of people who work or have worked in UX design themselves, either freelance, small agencies and sometimes within companies. From their support to the mentors. Thus it's more hands-on, practical with the emphasis on the thinking. And, they honestly want to help you, all of them are on the UXDI Slack channel regularly, responding to all types of questions, to which students and alumnis have access for I think up to a year after finalising the course. That has been of great help for me when doing my first baby bird steps in UX design. They now also have an initiative to help alumnis get hired.

If you are considering a course: I have done three. #1 Professional Diploma in UX Design. I still use my notes in my daily work to fall back on, and have used UXDI's sample test script for moderating usability tests. The recommended reading list have proven to be super valuable and I often check them for problems I need to solve in my daily work. It has also given me sufficient knowledge to have peer to peer conversations with senior UX designers.

#2 Software and coding fundamentals for UX: this is helping me right NOW in my collaboration with the developers, engineers and business analyst to work on a new website. It helps you to understand how they work, what they are using (I nodded when they mentioned Bootstrap and they seemed happy I had an inkling of what it is), how they test and how to do (and not to do) user acceptance testing. And most importantly: I learnt to explain the problem and the use cases in a way to enable to do what they do best: find a technical solution to the problem in ways that have exceeded my expectations and imagination.

#3 Content design: I have over 20 years of experience in writing for online, without doing courses (well, there were none back in the pioneering days) and based on reading books and going to seminars. What I am getting out of this, is knowing the research, the foundation and principles of the work of which I have done and succeeded or failed at + how to test and assess.

The course was perfect for me - definitely recommend

The course was perfect for me. I was changing careers entirely from a non-tech background so really researched what course to do. I am very happy I chose this course with UXDI. With no UX experience, the support aspect of the course offered was hugely beneficial. The student success team were very prompt and helpful with my many queries! The slack channels UXDI set up give great opportunities to network with other students and UX designers alike. I really liked how the course itself was delivered by Colman, very clear and easy to follow. I especially liked the sample tests given for each module. Initially, I was nervous about the project work, however, it's definitely how I learned most and gave me a great opportunity to build my portfolio. I found the support from the student success team as well as my fellow students very helpful with my projects. Would certainly recommend this course for anyone looking to change careers to UX Design.

UXDI Delivers Deep, Applicable, and Meaningful Content

I have taken the Professional Certificate in UI Design (Visual Design) and I can't thank UXDI enough for all the valuable knowledge and guidance I took with me to improve my skills as a designer.

The teachers and guides were knowledgeable and kind, and the course content was easy to understand and well-organized, while still being deep and rich.

My experience was satisfactory and now I'm taking their new Content Design course, and I'm so excited to keep improving.

I recommend these courses for people who want to achieve a meaningful understanding of the UX processes.

A note to some criticism about this course: courses are not meant to magically help people land jobs, that depends on the job market and many other variables. Courses are meant to help you understand the work you're doing, in a more methodical and meaningful way, and in that sense, UXDI delivers.

3000dollar not worth , no lifetime access to content and no job placement .

they charge around 3000 dollar for the ux course , and after 1 year revoke access to the course. most of the online courses provide free access to course content lifelong .
1-2 people get a job after the course . if you are from another country don't waste the money here . i am trying to finish the course.
they dont have one to one attention. some course content is prepared and shared to all people who enroll throughout the year. an institute literally making money by some videos alone .
go through youtube or linkedn learning and take the course. don't fall into this design institutes marketing tactics.

Feel there are better courses out…

Feel there are better courses out there.
It was okay - but I think, again, for the price, there are better options. I know people had more success with Career Foundry and/or Sarah Doody.

I think the career advice could be better, and more focused in on my current portfolio and give advice specific to my portfolio.
I had a 1-1 career planning session which involved:
- fair CV advice
- telling me they didn't have time to look at my portfolio
- showing me a portfolio from a professional who had 15+ years experience
- telling me they would send me other portfolios after the call (which they never did)

Instead they could have:
- Looked through 1 project
- Scrolled and specified areas of improvement, areas to reword and areas to remove
- Work on the storytelling and resubmit to them

Comparing it other courses and career's advice, it wasn't very good.

Spend your money elsewhere

Spend your money attending an actual in person course. I'm not sure why the course itself has such high reviews. The reality is that most people who have completed it are unable to get a job using the certificate unless they are already working in the design field. A waste of money.

Total waste of time and money

Total waste of time and money! Note that most of the positive reviews are in the middle of the course, not post-completion. The diploma holds value to businesses and you’re very unlikely to even get noticed with this diploma. I applied to over 50 internships and not even one call back. The job market is totally saturated due to online courses like this. If you want to do UX, you should get something more robust that can teach you hard skills like coding. This is basically videos about what UX is, and doesn’t prepare you for a career in UX. Also the career support is joke - advisors will cancel on you and never follow up. Don’t do it!
