4 coats of darkest Matt blue was needed to cover a previously white wall. The good home bandq paint did the same job in two coats at less than half the price per litre. Valspar is rubbish in my opinion and extortionate. Do not buy

Very easy to use service and the advice was fast and very helpful

Purchases valspar paint for my downstairs cloakroom. The paint colour was beautiful and application was reasonable. But after wiping down the walls (once paint was properly cured) the paint colour was removing from the walls. Contacted valspar and the customer service was disappointing. They didn't take any ownership for their poor paint and insisted that it was the way we had applied and that we had applied too much paint. Will never purchase another valspar paint again

I've never used paint like this before and it wasn't cheap! I bought the matt paint from B & Q as I liked the Tee off green colour. After 2 coats I had to make the decision to not use this anymore. The colour looked nothing like the picture, it was a mixture between looking like Grotbags and The Emerald Green City in the Wizard of Oz. It was disgusting and it was like trying to paint the walls with water. It was all streaky. So Dulux to the rescue, that covered the walls on the first coat!
** After writing this review I was contacted by a couple of Agents from Valspar, who blamed me for not stirring the paint properly 🤣 I knew it would be my fault! I wasted time in my life now that I will never get back responding to them. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME WITH THESE PEOPLE! STAY AWAY! DO NOT BUY THIS PAINT! **

b and Q £84 - needed 7.5 litres for 3 walls in a small bedroom, never again will I use this paint, never needed this much paint in the past. Sadly had to continue, they mixed the paint colour with the valspar white, wouldn’t recommend

There is a great amount of colour choice and I like that many are displayed in room settings, but after scanning through many of them it was a challenge to get back to look at the colours I thought I wanted to order.

Valspar premium paint for wood and metal in eggshell, mixed to a Farrow and Ball colour.
The paint went on easily and is a good colour match. Applied to a well sanded and prepared internal door, the surface scratches easily allowing the colour underneath to show through. Where the door touches the frame the surface has begun to chip away. The salesman at BQ Eastbourne assured me that this was great, tough paint and told me how he had painted his mums house throughout with Valspar, I suspect that this was untrue, just part of the standard Valspar sales patter. The Farrow and Ball paint was only a couple of quid more, silly me. Be advised this paint is really not good enough. Stay clear of it.

Bought a tin of mustard coloured valspar premium for a primed white wall - after 2 thick coats it still looks like it needs a further coat or two. Then also bought white for the hallway and after priming and painting white on white, it still needs a 3rd coat - ridiculous quality when the Lick paint we bought for the main bedroom only needed a single coat on a primed wall. Buy cheap buy twice with Valspar. Avoid them

Was unhappy with the paint colour when applied so bought a different colour as part of their ‘Love your Colour guarantee’ - claim was rejected as apparently I had bought the colour in a different range (even though I asked the assistant for same paint in a different colour), they were completely stubborn and stood behind their T&Cs and refused to refund so did not seem to be too bothered about after care support, paint was also very gloopy after around 10 minutes in the paint tray so only use small amounts at a time or better still trust the Trustpilot rating and buy another brand.

I have been using Valspar for 10 years, mainly Premium and Kitchen Premium. Honestly, can’t fault it, the paint is thick and the coverage is perfect even with 2 layers. They have recently released exterior paint for fence and it’s brilliant too. Multisurface/ wood paint- here I have mixed feeling unfortunately. I got crocodile skin chipping on caulked areas; no such issue occurred with Dulux.

If there was an option to give no stars, I would have done that. Our experience of Valspar paint has been horrendous! We are experienced home decorators who have done all our own painting for over 30 years and we have never had an issue with any other paint. We decided to buy Valspar Premium Kitchen and Bathroom Paint because we couldn’t find a colour we liked in other brands. We left the paint to dry completely before showering, but streaks instantly appeared on every wall. We googled and discovered this was leaching which should cure in 2/3 weeks. After 5 weeks the streaks were still there so we contacted Valspar. We have been in email contact with Valspar for several weeks and followed their advice which was to wash the walls multiple times. The streaks are still there. They have offered us another tin of Valspar paint, even though they told us we shouldn’t paint over the streaks since it would cause further problems. They then offered us a voucher for a Valspar product, but since they only make paint, this would obviously be for another tin of paint. Why would we want another tin of Valspar paint when we have had such a horrendous experience with their product? My husband put a review on trustpilot over a week ago and Valspar replied online saying they would contact him directly to rectify the issue. He hasn’t heard anything from them! We have asked Valspar for a refund but all they have offered us another tin of their paint. Why would we ever use their paint again when we have had such a dreadful experience? My advice is don’t go near this product. They may be able to mix the colour you want, but our bathroom walls are covered in unsightly streaks and we will probably have to use sealant before repainting it. Definitely won’t be going near the Valspar counter when we get the next tin!
Since posting this review, Valspar obviously posted the reply below, saying they would reach out to us. Since bringing this issue to their attention and contacting Valspar we had received 9 emails from Bianca in their customer services department. Surely this should all have been resolved in less than 9 emails from her? We will wait and see what they say now. Maybe I’m cynical, but I’m not hopeful.

★★☆☆☆ (2 stars)
I visited B&Q looking for a dark teal paint for a feature wall in our front room. After spending the last month completely renovating the space — stripping 40-year-old woodchip wallpaper from every wall and even the ceiling, installing a new ceiling, sanding back to bare plaster, filling, caulking, and priming — we were extremely careful with preparation.
The walls were properly prepped using Zinsser products, including Gardz, Bullseye 1-2-3 Plus Primer, and Perma-White, so poor surface prep is not the issue.
While in store, a member of staff recommended Valspar premium Kitchen & Bathroom paint with a subtle sheen, which we purchased at a higher price due to its claims of durability and performance. Initial impressions were very good: the colour is rich and exactly what we wanted, and the coverage was excellent. This is the only reason I’m giving 2 stars — otherwise it would be 0.
However, the tin states a drying time of within 4 hours, yet three days later the paint is still tacky. Any contact at all — even a fingertip — leaves visible marks. Despite being advertised as highly durable and extremely scrub-able, the finish marks incredibly easily and is anything but durable.
Also the sheen isn't subtle at all, it's almost gloss and shows every imperfection no matter how slight.
The rest of the room looks fantastic — new ceiling, new flooring, and beautifully finished walls — but the feature wall is now completely let down by this paint. The thought of having to strip it all back, sand again, and undo weeks of hard work is genuinely heartbreaking.
This product has been a huge disappointment, and I’m now left hoping there is a zinsser product that can be painted over the top without having to strip the wall back. Otherwise, a significant amount of time, effort, and money will have been wasted.

Further to a review on TrustPilot Valspar got in touch to try and rectify the matter.
Unfortunately, I lost the last email that was sent and even though I have contacted Customer Service, no-one has got back to me.
I would be grateful if you could please @Valspar.
Thank you.

I found dealing with my advisor Chloe very helpful. I’ve no idea about matching colours as I assume one is white and then select another. Happy with the advice received.

Bought the valspar matt premium for walls and ceilings in B&Q, spent over £100 on the paint for the living room. It went on well and looks good but it flakes off with the slightest touch. Even low tack frogtape, which can hardly even stick to the paint, pulls it off.
Really wish I had looked at the reviews here before buying it. Can't believe B&Q have it as their promoted paint

Bought Valspar specific paint for our bathroom. Despite leaving it for 3 days after we now have ‘ surfucant leaching’ which does not look nice.
We contacted Valspar who offered a voucher for some more paint? Why would we want more of their product?
We have washed the walls down as they suggested to no avail, still looks awful.
Avoid!
Valspar said in reply on Trustpilot they would reach out personally to resolve the issue, have heard nothing!

The worst paint ever... Colour good and coverage but shows every little mark. It's only been painted a month and needs redoing

I bought satin wood paint, mixed in store to a colour. The colour matching was good, but the paint was terrible. It is not oil based, its some sort of acrylic substitute for traditional oil based gloss paint. This paint drips badly, no matter how thinly you apply it. It also cracked and crazed when dry. Its very expensive for what it was, and completely unsuitable for painting wood, or doors or furniture which has been pre-painted, and which is what it says on the tin that it is suitable for. AVOID THIS PRODUCT, ITS COMPLETE GARBAGE.
