Vertu BMW Sunderland certainly have some positives in their favour; having purchased a car here and also had need to use the parts department the service was impeccable.
All falls apart upon use of the service centre however.
I’m extremely disappointed with the service I’ve received from Vertu BMW Sunderland.
My car was initially booked in for a brake fault and remained with the centre for a week. While progress at that stage was slow, there was at least some sense that the issue was being worked on. However, upon collecting the vehicle, it became immediately clear that the original fault had not been resolved.
I returned the car on March 25th, and it has remained there ever since. For nearly a week, the vehicle sat completely unmoved, and the recommended work appeared to be based purely on the absence of fault codes rather than any meaningful mechanical troubleshooting. This lack of proactive diagnosis is concerning for a main dealer service centre.
Following a conversation with the service manager, I was assured the vehicle would be prioritised. Unfortunately, this commitment was not honoured. While BMW have since authorised replacement parts, the overall handling by the service centre has been consistently slow and lacking urgency. As it stands, the car is still awaiting a brake servo replacement, with no clear resolution timeline.
To make matters worse, no courtesy car has been made available despite the extended period my vehicle has been off the road. This has had a direct impact on my ability to work and has resulted in personal financial loss due to reliance on taxis and rental vehicles.
Overall, the experience has been frustrating, poorly managed, and far below the standard I would expect. Communication, efficiency, and customer support have all been lacking throughout this process.
As I type this my car has been with Vertu BMW Sunderland for almost 4 weeks this time around, and it has remained unmoved in their compound for the past 11 of those days.
Anyone requiring service or repair of their BMW, do yourself a favour and take it somewhere else, it’s simply not worth the stress using Vertu BMW Sunderland.

The Vertu staff from entering the garage to leaving with my new car were very professional, polite and friendly. The sale guy listened to what I wanted and needed from the car and didn’t to push into a model with a load of fancy extra that weren’t important to me, he really listened.

5 stars purely on how the staff worked with me to get my new mini countryman. Both Kathryn and Josh are amazing people who went out of there way to get me my car as early as possible. Both work together great and made my appointments there feel more like a fun day out rather then a transaction. They looked after me from beginning to end and kept in touch via email. Excellent service and a gorgeous new car.

Fantastic service from Nicki at Vertu Sunderland. From the first enquiry through to collecting the car, everything was handled smoothly and professionally. Nicki was friendly, knowledgeable and kept me well informed throughout, making the whole process feel easy and stress-free. There was no pressure at any stage and everything was explained clearly. The car was ready exactly as promised and the handover went perfectly. Really pleased with the experience and would definitely recommend.

Been there twice considering I live about a mile away and on both occasions they’ve been hopeless. Went in to look at buying a new car and was told the one in the showroom wasn’t for sale. Told I’d wait about a year to get one. Last time I went in, the car I went to look at apparently wasn’t at the dealership but was later told by another sales person that it was in the back. Bought something else from a different dealership. I think I’ll try the BMW dealership at Silverlink. Hopefully they want to sell cars.

I walked into the sales room without an appointment, I was allocated Josh and made to feel very welcome. I had already seen quite a few cars at other salesrooms, and was a bit overwhelmed and disillusioned. I knew what I wanted in my new car but salespeople kept trying to redirect me to what they had available. Josh asked me what I wanted, then worked through stuff I did not want or need. We whittled it down until we had MY car. I absolutely recommend Vertu Sunderland and specifically Josh.
