Very bad experience!
Incomprehensible communication and an extra charge/insurance, which we allready had, just to collect the car.
After returning it, we were charged 600 euros, which they later admitted was a mistake

I was skeptical of renting from a company I never used. But to be honest the experience was a good one, hassle free, car was good (just 16k on the clock) and the staff were all friendly.

I would use them again.

Our experience at Catania Airport was very good. Staff on collecting and returning the vehicle were very professional and helpful. The car had quite a few bumps and scratches but all were recorded. We have hired cars for many years whilst on holiday and we have found many companies to be pushy on additional insurance and for trying to highlight damage on the return of the vehicle. We always fully inspect the vehicle before we move it, taking photos and noting any un-recorded damage. We have used many car hire companies at Catania Airport with quite a few very poor experiences. Viaggiare are refreshing and have been the best. We have used them the last 2 years and will look to use them again next year

Having been fraudantly charged by Klass Wagen in Faro Portugal before (absolute criminals who admitted they "did not care due to 250 bookings a month"), this was an excellent experience with Viaggiare Rentals in Catania. All very easy, and how it should be done. Well done Viaggiare!!

Friendly service both when picking up and dropping off the car.
The car was inspected in my presence when I dropped it off (which has not been the case with other car companies), thus avoiding any misunderstandings.

What seemed like a good deal turned into a horrible experience.
We booked a car via AutoEurope with Viaggiare as the provider. I was originally listed as the main driver, but at pickup we were told we had to switch the booking to my boyfriend because our shared credit card is in his name. Since he is just under 24, this meant we had to pay an extra €300 on the spot. So much for a budget-friendly deal.

But that was only the beginning.

The car was in terrible condition from the start.

It had multiple damages that were not listed on the check-in form – we took photos of all of them and reported them immediately.
The interior was falling apart.
And most importantly: the passenger seatbelt came undone while driving. At one point, when my boyfriend braked, my seatbelt suddenly unbuckled and I was thrown forward. We reported this immediately, but they never had the decency to respond.
A handbrake warning light kept flashing.
And the gear slipped into neutral while driving on the highway, which was extremely dangerous.
They clearly don’t care about customer safety – only about money.
When we returned the car, we were told the fuel cap was “damaged” – something we only noticed the first time we tried to refuel. After a few attempts, we managed to get it closed, but they still charged us €25 (excl. tax), blaming us for something that was clearly a mechanical fault.

Then we were hit with another charge: €204 (excl. tax) for a tiny scratch on the bumper, which we genuinely don’t know was caused by us. We picked the car up in the dark and the scratch was on a grey surface – very hard to notice. The staff pointed it out with such confidence that it felt like a setup.

In the end, we paid over €300 extra for a cheap, unsafe, poorly maintained car, got no customer support, and were met with unfair charges.

Avoid Viaggiare at all costs – dangerous cars, zero accountability, and no respect for their customers.

Nice Team. Very professionell dealt with a small damage. Especially Andrea was very nice at delivery in Catania Airport.

The car was brand new Toyota Yaris Cross. Liked this car because from the outside looks small, but it was big enough for family of four to travel with comfort. 10 days of traveling through Sicily were joy and pleasure. The only thing I missed was front parking sensors for tight parking. PriThe priceth full insuarance was great.

Worst experience of my life !
We ordered a car at 10 am. When we arrived at 09:40 there were 5 other people in front of me. Eventually it was our turn at 11:30. Everyone before us was having trouble with their reservations.
When I had to pay for our deposit, they said my pin wasn't correct, which was not true ! They didn't give us any other solution, we also couldn't use another credit card.
Eventually they told us the only otion was to get their premium coverage and I had to pay 300 euro extra !
I feel ripped off !

The collection/return staff were excellent, as was the quality of the car.
However, the company will repeatedly tell you 'you aren't insured with them' when you collect the car, despite being fully insured through your broker. This is disingenuous and clearly designed to extract further payment. In other words, a, scam.

Trustworthy and reasonable.

Easy car pickup and drop off. We returned the car in another location for a fee and it was not a problem. The car had no issues, worked great the entire trip.

Just too much time spent at the check in.

A good experience. The car was clean and damage free; the staff friendly and helpful.

Big scam!!

Always pay with a credit card!

They convinced me to take out a €150 so-called “all-risk” insurance using my debit card, because they claimed my credit card was invalid. Unfortunately after a minor accident with the car, it turned out this was not an all-risk insurance at all.

When I returned the car they charged me another €150 for the damage. They also promised that the €150 deposit I had paid (in case I returned the car dirty or with low fuel) would be refunded within three working days

But I never got that money back !!

I reluctantly paid the extra €150, trusting the employee who helped me. But today, out of nowhere, they withdrew even more money from my account without any explanation.

I called my bank to ask how this was possible since I’m no longer in Italy. The bank informed me that during my last transaction, I had unknowingly given the company permission to withdraw unlimited amounts from my account.
Their advice: close my account immediately and open a new one. They said this type of scam is sadly common — especially in Italy.

In total, this company has taken over €650 from me. I’ve sent multiple emails but never received a response. I also never received a report, invoice, or any breakdown of the charges.

My advice: rent from Sixt or Hertz, but avoid local rental companies like this one. Many of their positive reviews are clearly fake or bought to lure in more customers. And unfortunately, it worked on me too.

⚠️ AVOID AT ALL COSTS – THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM ⚠️

Our experience with Viaggiare Rent (Catania) was absolutely appalling.

When we arrived to pick up the car, they refused to accept our pre-arranged full coverage insurance, claiming it was “not valid.” They gave us no choice but to pay €150 for their own insurance — otherwise, no car. Straight-up extortion.

Later during our trip, we had an accident. Immediately, they demanded another €150, saying the car couldn’t be rented out anymore. No formal report, no documentation, no explanation — just pressure, fear tactics, and manipulation.

And it got worse:
• Our €150 deposit? Never refunded. No reason.
• They took away the rental agreement — so we were left with zero paperwork.
• After we returned home, they charged us an extra €100 without notifying us.
• Oh, and yes — they charged VAT twice.

In total: €630 gone. Stolen.

And after reading more reviews, it’s clear this isn’t a mistake. This is how they run their business. They know most people won’t fight back.

But we are.
We’ve filed a report with the European Consumer Centre and are taking legal action. We’re also spreading the word far and wide.

Viaggiare Rent is not just bad — it’s criminal.
Do NOT rent from them. Tell your friends. Warn other travelers.

⚠️ DO NOT RENT HERE – COMPLETE SCAM & MAFIA BEHAVIOR

I was completely scammed by Viaggiare Rent during my holiday.

I had already arranged my own full all-risk insurance before arriving. But when I got to the desk, they told me it was “not valid” and forced me to pay €150 for their own all risk insurance, or I wouldn’t get the car. Total blackmail.

Later, I was involved in an accident. Right after that, they demanded another €150, claiming the car couldn’t be rented out anymore. No proper report, no documentation, just pressure and scare tactics.

That wasn’t the end:
• They withheld my €150 deposit for no reason.
• They took my rental contract, so I have no proof of anything agreed.
• After I returned home, they charged me an extra €100 without telling me.
• Oh — and they charged VAT twice. Twice. On top of everything else.

Total money stolen: €630.

And I know: this is what you’re known for. I’ve read the other reviews. This is clearly not a mistake — this is how you operate.
You don’t care. You expect people to give up and move on.

But I won’t.

I’ve submitted a complaint to the European Consumer Centre (ECC), I’m reporting you to the police, and I’ll make sure as many people as possible know about what you did.
With my large social media following, I will keep sharing this until you are exposed for the scammers you are.

Viaggiare Rent is a fraud. Do not rent here. Ever.
