⚠️ AVOID AT ALL COSTS – THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM ⚠️

Our experience with Viaggiare Rent (Catania) was absolutely appalling.

When we arrived to pick up the car, they refused to accept our pre-arranged full coverage insurance, claiming it was “not valid.” They gave us no choice but to pay €150 for their own insurance — otherwise, no car. Straight-up extortion.

Later during our trip, we had an accident. Immediately, they demanded another €150, saying the car couldn’t be rented out anymore. No formal report, no documentation, no explanation — just pressure, fear tactics, and manipulation.

And it got worse:
• Our €150 deposit? Never refunded. No reason.
• They took away the rental agreement — so we were left with zero paperwork.
• After we returned home, they charged us an extra €100 without notifying us.
• Oh, and yes — they charged VAT twice.

In total: €630 gone. Stolen.

And after reading more reviews, it’s clear this isn’t a mistake. This is how they run their business. They know most people won’t fight back.

But we are.
We’ve filed a report with the European Consumer Centre and are taking legal action. We’re also spreading the word far and wide.

Viaggiare Rent is not just bad — it’s criminal.
Do NOT rent from them. Tell your friends. Warn other travelers.

⚠️ DO NOT RENT HERE – COMPLETE SCAM & MAFIA BEHAVIOR

I was completely scammed by Viaggiare Rent during my holiday.

I had already arranged my own full all-risk insurance before arriving. But when I got to the desk, they told me it was “not valid” and forced me to pay €150 for their own all risk insurance, or I wouldn’t get the car. Total blackmail.

Later, I was involved in an accident. Right after that, they demanded another €150, claiming the car couldn’t be rented out anymore. No proper report, no documentation, just pressure and scare tactics.

That wasn’t the end:
• They withheld my €150 deposit for no reason.
• They took my rental contract, so I have no proof of anything agreed.
• After I returned home, they charged me an extra €100 without telling me.
• Oh — and they charged VAT twice. Twice. On top of everything else.

Total money stolen: €630.

And I know: this is what you’re known for. I’ve read the other reviews. This is clearly not a mistake — this is how you operate.
You don’t care. You expect people to give up and move on.

But I won’t.

I’ve submitted a complaint to the European Consumer Centre (ECC), I’m reporting you to the police, and I’ll make sure as many people as possible know about what you did.
With my large social media following, I will keep sharing this until you are exposed for the scammers you are.

Viaggiare Rent is a fraud. Do not rent here. Ever.

Viaggiare has great value for money, a very friendly team, and offers new cars to its customers, or at least the one I received, and the delivery time is very short.

Even though we were a bit late to bring it back because we got lost in a parking lot they will still very nice and understanding.

Nobody was at the check-out point, I had to wait for 10 minutes, then I went to the office to ask somebody to come for check-out.

All was perfect, in time, no access to have a problem.

Good value for money. Both hire cars in good order like new. Had no issues.

I returned the car exactly as I received it — clean and undamaged — at 4:00 AM, as agreed in the contract. I even recorded a video showing the car from all sides. Several hours later, the company claimed there was a “dent” on the back door, demanded €250, and refused to provide any photo evidence or repair invoice. They also refused to release my €500 deposit unless I paid.

They use the excuse that anything could have happened “between 4:00 and 8:00 AM” (when their office opens) — even though I had no access to the car during that time.

This is a classic rental scam and it seems they do it often. I am reporting them to the European Consumer Centre (EVZ) and my credit card provider, and I strongly warn others:

I waited 1:30 hours to receive the car(in 35 degrees). The staff was unfriendly(and barely spoke english). Honestly they did not give a f...

I had booked a fiat panda and received a Mahindra. Might not sound much, but having a huge car in Sicily can prove challenging.

I should add that I requested to see the repair invoice, which they REFUSED to show me. It is against their 'policy' to show me what they did with my money. Stay Away.

Do not rent from this company.

Overall is good, no matter the booking process and the quality of the car. However, the online pre-check in was not working, specially on the language, it kept showing Italian even I chose English. And the face to face check in process was a little bit slow.

Be prepared to wait over an hour to pick up your car. One attendant working and she's typing with one finger taking on average 20 mins per rental agreement. If you value your time after a flight go with another provider.

Viaggare rent was a reliable company and the assigned car war bearly new with minor scratches which I was notified about them before. The front desk person was very kind and helpful. I recommend to make use of this company and if I come back I will do the same. Thanks

The car was clean and almost new and was the model that I ordered. So often with other car rental it’s a ‘similar’ model.

Great value for the money we paid. No issues upon pickup or return, vehicle in good condition however it could have been cleaner..

I rented a car for 2 days in early May. The lady in the office did not understand everything in English so it turned out that I rented the car for 1 day, not for two. After figuring it out, I asked via WhatsApp to extend the rental by one day. There was no problem, I received a payment link, and immediately paid the rental. The process of returning the car went smoothly, the gentleman said that everything was OK and the deposit would be returned in a few days. It turned out that Viaggiare charged a second time for the extended rental and I got a full refund of the deposit, reduced by this amount. I have already sent a dozen messages to various email addresses and have neither a reply nor a refund.

It's a pity, because I got a nice car and if it wasn't for this situation I would have given 5* disregarding the misunderstanding, it happens. But in this situation it is just plain thievery....
