On 1st June the booking system for classes at Portsmouth has changed to a panic at 7am to try to book. Even booking at 7am & nil seconds results in being stuck on a waiting list of 10 people - when pl... See more

Village Gym Edinburgh
Village Gym Edinburgh: Really poor. Would not recommend at all.
They have effectively closed the whole gym (a very small under equipped are with a paltry amount of equipment aside) and are refusing any discount or refund during this worked.
Staff are rude and unhelpful.
Very unsafe conditions during the works.
0 out of 10.
Avoid too many dramas
I would strongly advise anyone considering joining this gym to think carefully before signing up.
The biggest issue is not just the facilities themselves, but the complete lack of communication, organisation, and customer service.
For the last 2 weeks, the air conditioning has been out of service. Members have repeatedly asked for updates, yet staff either seem unable to provide any information or give vague responses with no clear timeline for when the issue will be resolved. Within 15 minutes of a class starting, the room becomes unbearably hot, mirrors are fogged up with humidity, and uncomfortable. The floor also becomes slippery, creating what appears to be a genuine health and safety concern and classes shortly after are stopped as a result!!
Leaving work early to get to my class for 25min workout in these conditions is a waste of time.
Despite members paying significant membership fees, the gym is currently failing to provide what most people would consider a basic necessity: a safe and comfortable training environment.
There is also a serious issue with the booking system. The gym appears to have changed the way waiting lists operate without communicating the change to members. Previously, if you were first on the waiting list, you would reasonably expect to receive the next available place when someone cancelled.
Instead, spaces are now released back into the system for everyone to compete for again. This makes the waiting list virtually pointless and leaves members constantly checking the app and racing each other for cancellations. You would be expected to constantly be watching your phone and then scrambling at a moment gnosis to get a spot.
I have work to do and I don’t have time to check my phone all day and feel like I’ve missed out on opportunities repeatedly - that is literally just going to stress me out and causing anxiety.
The lack of communication surrounding this change has caused widespread confusion, frustration, and anger among members.
To make matters worse, emails frequently go unanswered, and some of the contact email addresses provided via the app - either bounces back or reject responses altogether.
It often feels impossible to get a clear answer from anyone.
Overall, the gym comes across as chaotic, disorganised, and unprofessional. Basic member communication is poor, issues are not addressed transparently, and customers are left feeling ignored and frustrated.
The facilities themselves are not the problem. The management, communication, and customer experience are. Unfortunately, after repeated issues and a lack of meaningful responses, many members have simply had enough.
I have membership in Village gym about…5 years
I have membership in Village gym about 5 years. I am happy that there is such a great facilities in my area. Great staff and very good, clean summing pool with dry and steam room and lovely jacuzzi. There are skilled and professional personal trainers
avoid
cheadle gym broken equipment consistently. poor levels of communication when things break. changing rooms filthy and smell of stagnant water. not a good gym
saunas never cleaned properly just a splash of water. puddles of stagnant sweaty water as you walk in
Needs a good cleaning, treat members poorly
I initially enjoyed being a member of this gym, but have now decided to cancel my membership. The cleanliness is concerning. The same rubbish was in one of the bathroom stalls floors and on top of the bin in that stall for three days untouched. Which makes me think no one cleaned it for three days. There is mold or mildew growing along the edges of the floor of the shower stalls. I had the unfortunate experience of accidentally touching the walls of one of the showers and it was slimy, again making me question if it had ever been cleaned.
The same used plaster was in the bottom of the pool for over a week and the walls of the pool look like they’ve never been properly cleaned. There’s also some sort of sand or grit in the bottom of the pool that has been there for my entire membership.
If you miss a certain number of classes, you are banned from booking classes more than an hour in advance. However I’ve had multiple classes where the instructor was on holiday, no one cancelled the classes, and everyone was just standing there. Highly disrespectful of the members time.
When I first joined I signed up for a new member tour and fitness evaluation. I showed up at the scheduled time; but was told there was no one available as they had told the person doing my evaluation and me two different times. I rescheduled and the second time consisted of someone sitting asking me questions off a tablet in the pub for less than ten minutes. It was at a shared table with a random man sitting working from a laptop. I found it humiliating to discuss my health that publicly. There was no tour and I was not shown any equipment. They offered to reschedule me a third time, however I had already taken off work twice for the other two attempts and I was too embarrassed to go through discussing my fitness in public again.
When I canceled my membership last month I got an email saying “ We'll give you a call over the next few days to discuss your request.” This never happened, which shows how little they value me as a member.
Cancelled my membership because I used…
Cancelled my membership because I used the word incompetent in a questionnaire they sent to me. I also called there staff ar$ehole in a generic email after being assaulted on sight by another member. They had witnessed it and refused to give a statement. Do not recommend. Not a safe place for kids. They agreed to reinstate it and then was cancelled the next day again by a disgruntled manager. Presumably acting on his own. I attempted to call twice, refused to engage and hung up on each occasion. Better off with Edinburgh leisure or your back garden.
I use the pool at st David’s Ewloe…
I use the pool at st David’s Ewloe several mornings a week . It’s a great way to start the day . The staff are so welcoming and very professional if you have a concern .
The showers are great and spotlessly clean thanks to Ann who I see regularly cleaning them . I’d also like to give a shout out to Karen who went above and beyond to keep my phone and bank cards safe when I’d left them behind .
Extremely disappointing and upsetting…
Extremely disappointing and upsetting experience at Village Dudley.
I never expected to experience racial abuse, intimidation, and aggression in a place that promotes itself as a professional, inclusive, family-friendly health and wellbeing environment.
While upstairs quietly doing work, I was subjected to racist comments including being told to “go back to where you came from.” The situation then escalated further when an aggressive male squared up to me in an intimidating manner, while a female involved continued the hostile behaviour. During the incident, my Apple laptop was picked up and thrown across a table, leaving me shocked and genuinely concerned for my safety.
What made the entire experience even worse was the lack of proper action afterwards.
Village Gym publicly promotes “zero tolerance” policies towards abusive, racist, threatening, or aggressive behaviour. Their own rules clearly mention protecting members’ wellbeing, immediate intervention by staff, and potential permanent bans for serious misconduct. However, when I personally experienced this behaviour on their premises, it felt like none of these policies actually mattered.
After reporting everything to management, including Simon and Lindsey, I received very little reassurance, accountability, or meaningful communication. Considering how serious the incident was, the response felt extremely dismissive and disappointing. I explained that I no longer felt safe attending the gym, yet there appeared to be little genuine concern shown towards member welfare or safety.
This is especially concerning because I used to bring my 8-year-old daughter here for swimming. As a parent, it seriously worries me that behaviour involving racism, intimidation, aggression, and property being thrown can allegedly occur within the premises without strong action being visibly taken afterwards.
A gym should be a place where people feel safe, respected, welcomed, and comfortable regardless of background. Unfortunately, my experience at Village Gym Dudley was the complete opposite.
For a company that advertises inclusivity, professionalism, wellbeing, and customer care so heavily, this experience exposed a very different reality.
I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values safety, professionalism, respect, or genuine customer support. Very upsetting experience overall.
Been going to Village Gym Bristol for…
Been going to Village Gym Bristol for over a year now and honestly it’s one of the best gym environments I’ve trained in.
Good equipment, clean space, great atmosphere, and the staff are always welcoming.
The sauna and pool are also a huge bonus after a long workout. Definitely a solid gym if you’re serious about fitness or just trying to improve yourself consistently.
Do not join this gym
I joined the Bristol one for convenience… Do not join this gym, they didn’t give me a proper induction, I never signed a contract. Nothing was explained to me. I was a member for around 9 months, paying £48 a month so mid range. I often work away and when I got a job in Dublin I gave them 30 days notice and cancelled my direct debit. They didn’t answer my email until I was in Dublin and said their cancellations period was 90 days. Laughable when you can’t use the service to be expected to pay for it for an extra 12 weeks. They demanded proof of my job, I can’t just sent contracts out as they’re legal documents with private information on them. 4 weeks later they hire a debt collection service. I had to ask my agent to write them a letter with proof of my contract. No reply, they’re foolish because I’d never rejoin. What a terrible way to treat long term customers. I’d rather pay more and be treated fairly.
Eight years and still here...
Been a member here for over eight years and the recent renovation has transformed it into one of the best fitness spaces around. Spacious and modern with a wide range of equipment, catering to everyone—from those focused on cardio to those diving into resistance training or HYROX-style workouts. The sauna is easily one of the best in Leeds, with it's consistently high temperature, and the addition of the ice bath, is the perfect way to unwind after a tough session and adds a touch of luxury. The only drawback can be the parking which can be a challenge during busy periods.
Overall, this is an outstanding gym with top-tier facilities, excellent variety, and special mention to the friendly reception staff! 🙌🏽 Highly recommended for anyone serious about their fitness or just looking for a great place to train. The 25% discount in the bar/restaurant is also a top perk!
Absolutely Amazing!
I don’t usually write reviews, but this place genuinely deserves one.
Village Bristol Gym has become my absolute favourite place to work out. What really sets it apart is the variety and quality of the classes — they’re not just the usual routines you find everywhere else. Each session feels fresh, engaging, and actually something to look forward to rather than a chore.
The trainers are a huge part of what makes this gym special. They’re not only incredibly professional and knowledgeable, but also genuinely approachable and supportive. No matter your level, they take the time to help, encourage, and make sure you’re getting the most out of every session. You can tell they really care about what they do and the people they’re training.
There’s such a positive atmosphere here — it’s always a joy to walk in and an even bigger pleasure to work out alongside such a great team. It’s rare to find a gym that gets this balance right, but Village Bristol absolutely does.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for more than just a standard gym experience.
Oh I absolutely love this place
Village Bournemouth - Oh I absolutely love this place ! I joined when it first opened… stayed for 6/7 years. Loved every second but the class timetable didn’t suit my work hours so I left for Fitness First. This soon was taken over by BH Live and I was straight back to The Village. I’ll never cheat on them again ha!!
The vibe is great, 25m pool is rare in a health club so that’s great. I love the classes and I love strength training . Couldn’t recommend enough 💪
Cancellation period is a complete ruse
Cancellation period is a complete ruse. Why would you need 3 months cancellation. Absolutely ridiculous and it's purely there to extend their money by 1-2 months more.
Tommy top lad! and team!
The team here keep the place immaculate, and are always polite and friendly. Tommy came to the rescue this morning as i locked my locker key in the locker. Good job Tommy had a pair of bolt croppers (Tommy is a member of staff btw) always friendly and helpfull thanks Tommy top lad.

This is a review for Cheadle
This is a review for Cheadle. Inappropriate staff changing rules daily for a junior member. Ruining the experience daily, by staff not actually knowing the rules of the club then taking it out on customers. When adult males are confronting my daughter who has asd. And I step in too be called aggressive . Shocking and disgusting behaviour and I won’t be letting it go with a few bad reviews. Stuart the manager needs too take a customer service course. Then maybe he can teach some of his staff. Don’t get me wrong some of the staff there are great just a few that behave like bully’s
Customer service at Eastleigh is disgusting!
I’m am disabled after suffering a major stroke and was a member until a few days ago, one day because of my condition I forgot my towel and wallet, I asked at reception if I could borrow one and was told I would have to pay £2.50 for one or drip dry and there was no flexibility in there rules! I did have the multi gym membership but as I wasn’t using it I cancelled it a week before the end of the month, this was still taken from my bank and when I asked for a refund I was basically told tough, you’re not getting one and if you don’t like it, you can leave, just put in a request online to cancel your membership. With customer service like that I did exactly as they told me to, I’d rather be with a company that has proper customer service
