VOIPo charges you whenever they feel like it

Company billed me for three years of service $185 each in December 2025. They billed me again in March for two years of service again for $185. I reported them to the BBB, CA Attorney General, and NY Attorney General. They are making themselves look good at end of quarters by overcharging people.

Here we go again

Once upon a time, companies wanted your business. Clearly, Voipo does not. We could copy and paste all of the other recent complaints regarding billing. They hit us in November 2024 with 5 charges of $185 and a month later, we finally received a refund.

In the words of Brittany Spears, "oops, they did it again" on March 7, 2025 they hit us with 4 charges of $185 each. We completed a ticket and waited. When checking on the status of our refund, we received the cut & paste response from 2 different reps (Cody & Jay) of "I see that billing ticket is currently still open and the refund request pending processing by our Billing team--I'm very sorry if no update has been provided as of yet. Currently, we do not have an ETA as to when that refund will be processed, but our Billing team will get this resolved as expeditiously as possible."
Furthermore, We asked them to remove us off auto pay, which they assured us they had. The writing is on the wall, and we are currently researching a different company so we can kick Voipo to the curb!

Repeated fraudulent charges

VOIPO has fraudulently charged my credit card FIVE times.

The most recent instances occurred on March 5 and March 7 for $185 each day. I immediately contacted VOIPO requesting a refund for $370, and I received a response that the matter would be referred for further investigation. I was advised to not reach out again, lest my request for the $370 refund be de-prioritized.

After that I received no further response at all.

I reached out again on March 28 (three weeks after my initial request) and was told that "the ticket is currently still pending with our Billing department."

At this point it has been nearly five weeks. There is no excuse for a refund to take this long (particularly when my current subscription is good through December 2026 AND again, I never authorized these charges).

I went through a similar experience last year. My subscription still had more than a year on it when they fraudulently charged me $185 on 3/6/2024. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the charge and when I did, I decided to just accept it as it extended the subscription far enough out that I'd have time to find an alternate carrier.

However, VOIPO then made ANOTHER fraudulent charge on 7/14/2024 for another $185. I disputed this charge, and made it clear they should NOT charge me again. It took three months for them to finally issue the refund.

This identical issue also happened the year before THAT, on 1/17/2023.

At this point, I am done with this company. I have been a loyal VOIPO customer for more than 15 years, since September 2009, but now I can only recommend that people steer away from them. They are no longer the company they used to be.

Fraudulent company

Like many others Voipo started charging for services not rendered in advance $185/month. It has been the better part of 8 months with no resolution. Reported Voipo to the Better Business Bureau and they still didn’t respond. Seems to me there should be a class action lawsuit for the fraudulent charges caused by a ‘minor billing error’. In my opinion , not so minor and definitely Voipo knows but chose not to correct the error.

Terrible Customer Service

The incorrectly billed us for 6 months. I reported it to them and was told they were processing the refund. It's been over 2 months, no refund, no communication, and you can never talk to them.

Cancelled 1 year ago.

We were not using the service. I cancelled in 2024 February. This year they have billed me 2 times. The customer service number I have not been able to reach them. So sent snail mail and no contact after 3 weeks. I am filing with my credit card company.

Pre-charging, overcharging. Deceitful. No Customer Services.

This company repeatedly overcharges and deceives. Regularly you get charged for pre-paying for services 12-36 months in advance. Recently we received twice an invoice for the same future period. And they charged both. We deleted our card from their system but they used our card on file anyway. You do get an in-app reply to the tune of "Sorry, we'll refund you." Sometimes that happens, after repeated messages. Their customer telephone service is dead. So is also their chat function. STAY AWAY!

No way to contact by phone

No way to contact by phone. Charged as much a one year ahead of time. This time I am charged five months ahead of time. I have not been able to get refunded yet. I am being put off with my online messages. I was charged on the 5th this is the 22nd.

We had a great experience with Voipo…

We had a great experience with Voipo for several years. However, recent billing issues resulted in multiple inaccurate charges to our account. Getting a refund has been extremely difficult—we’re still waiting weeks later. On top of that, contacting support has been nearly impossible. A little bit of communication from Voipo would be great. Ultimately, we switched to Vonage to avoid further overbilling headaches.

Unauthorized charges multiple times

For the 2nd time Voipo charged us $185 twice on the same day. We are paid up years in advance. They did it last September also with 3 charges and after writing a review here, we were credited for 2 of the charges. It's awful that they have done this to so many people!

the LIVE CHAT and BOTH CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBERS are not working. and i need to make a complaint about calling people, it will ring twice and disconnect. they don't even hear the rings. i can do this eight or ten time in a row. other numbers it works, but two numbers (different area codes) it will hardly ever work.

They bill you 2 years ahead of a billing date. They make it impossible to reach them by phone and they make it very difficult for you to get the charge reverse. This is the second year in a row that they have done this to me. I have emailed them multiple times and I get the message that "they are looking into it" but are they? Last year it took me a month to get them to reverse changes. They are doing themselves in and I may soon be gone forever after 13 years with them. The last 3 years have been bad. Stay away.

I have been overcharged again for the…

I have been overcharged again for the third time - my account is paid thru 2030 - they charged me $185 twice this month for a total of $370.00. No one to answer phones and No response from emails or portal and there is no way to remove your credit card information from the portal. I get an email saying they will cancel the autorenew function but this has not worked!! I am totally frustrated. This is unacceptable.

They will steal from you

The service was just sort of okay, I stopped using it in 2023 and they charged me the $185 renewal fee 2 years later. Don't trust them, don't get service from them. They are stealing from people.

Charging my account 9 months prior to…

Charging my account 9 months prior to my renewal due date. Very slow customer service, promises to refund the early billing has been going on for 2 weeks now... FCC should look into this company and their billing practices. They are collecting interest by billing way to early on other peoples money. If I do get my charges refunded, I will remove my credit card info until the date of renewal, and then drop this company.

Duplicate charges, poor customer service

In the past year, VOIPO has overcharged my $1000 dollars! They have NO phone support so all correspondence must be handled through their online portal. This is very slow and you receive little confirmation if they process your message. I have cancelled my account. To be clear, their annual fee is $185. I received 6 duplicate charges. This is totally unprofessional.

Same problem as others

Same problem as others. Multiple $185 charges to my account November 2023, which were eventually resolved. Now, same thing again roughly two weeks ago - four $185 charges in two days. No replies to tickets, phone message says "high call volume" (I'll bet!) and to call back later. Live Chat unresponsive. Not a good business model. I'm betting the business and the perpetrators go poof soon, leaving all of us high and dry.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING VOIPO!!

I want so say that I am a customer since Tim opened Voipo. I figured they would be as good as Hostgator his other start up. It WAS great and such a deal but the issue is problems take away from the value proposition.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING VOIPO? You charged my credit card with FIVE charges for $185 each! yes 5 of them. Why and how? This borders on FRAUD, a SCAM or whatever the heck is going on.

They know they charged ME 5 TIMES! and have yet to refund me.

Know this VOIPO and ALL! I recommended VOIPO to hundreds if not thousands of people over the years. Sadly many are mad at ME as they have done the exact same charging cards!

VOIPO we all want a full apology and service credits.

FYI - If you want to email the owner/founder use: td at their voipo.com domain and Tim definitely answers. I give him credit for this but Tim how can you keep doing this? This happened to me years ago and I see others had it in January. This is HORRIBLE for business...

In Calif any theft more than $950 is considered a felony. Your overcharges the last time around (Oct 2024) already exceeded the felony limit; a few months later now you've charged another $555 in fraudulent charges. To All - Stay Away from Voipo by "Mr Duck" - dishonesty, fraudulent, unauthorized charges is an on-going issue.
