First time

My first time on WashingtonDeluxe, The boarding process was very organized. I found the coach to be very comfortable and very clean.

Ok but I took the train home

The bus was late arriving for pick up and more than an hour late for drop off. The only traffic was in Manhattan. The bus matron - non driver - was rude to riders when they were trying to line up before getting on the bus. The bus wasn't clean. The driver was fine. I didn't try the WiFi or plugs. I decided not to use my return ticket and took the train instead.

Overall a good trip

The only problem was that when I bought the ticket it said around 4 hours for the trip and it actually took more than five.
It was a friday and traffic was terrible in NY city, but they should know that.
Otherwise the trip went fine.

It's a bus. It takes you between DC and NYC

Does what it's supposed to. That's pretty much it. Don't be late. Likely prone to the problems that all coach busses are (breakdowns, traffic, etc). Free cold water is a bonus. Much better than the chocolate that I got on a different bus line.

Uncomfortable, slow journey

EDIT: To their credit, in response to this review, Washington Deluxe have forward the complaint on to their maintenance department and have also sent me a complimentary ticket.

The bus I travelled on between NYC and Washington DC was quite clearly old and poorly maintained. We had a flat tire within an hour of setting off on hour journey, which took over an hour and a half to repair. But that wasn't the main issue, these things happen. The issue was the suspension. The ride in the bus was so rough that when going over relatively minor bumps in the road (e.g. the join between a bridge and the preceding stretch of highway) passengers were bumped up out of their seats into the air. It was amusing for the first few times, with many of us laughing about it, but after 4 hours it became extremely frustrating. Sleeping, near impossible, the bumps so big and the jitters in between so frequent that reading a book was also impossible. Overall, it made for an extremely unpleasant journey.

Much better than expected

Well, I have been using WashNy to move my son between New York and Northern VA for about 7 years now and he has had no issues. I have never had occasion to use the service, so when the need arose, I question my in house expert.

He said, dad, go for it; so I did. To my surprise, comfortable, expeditious and safe experience. I will definitely use the service again if/when the need arises.

Best Travel for NYC to see Broadway Shows

Very clean bus and great WIFI. Loved the Union Station to NYC locations perfect for Broadway shows and Macy's shopping thanks.
Only drawback seats are limited when traveling as a group > 2 people.
I recommend getting to the arrival/departure locations at least 30 minutes to guarantee seats together. Also, tall people will need to adjust the seats for leg room.

Boisterous bus driver; behind schedule; but caring customer service

This bus ride was the worst I've had with Washington Deluxe. The bus driver, while attempting to be friendly, was loud and boisterous, from the time we got on the bus to the time we exited. He asked bus riders to look up alternative routes for him on traffic apps and tried taking so many alternate routes, I think he ultimately added more time. Next, he answered the phone several times while driving, apparently from the bus company themselves! Our bus had to take an unnecessary stop in Delaware to pick up a passenger who had been left at the stop by another WD bus. Then, we hit major traffic coming into NYC. While not the driver's fault, he again answered the phone several times and proceeded to yell at whomever he spoke with "just be patient!" I assume this was regarding our delayed arrival in NYC but I found it highly inappropriate. In all, we were on the bus 2 hours longer than expected, and the driver's demeanor made the experience miserable.

--
After the original post, a member of the Washington Deluxe team called to follow up on what happened. The representative expressed concern about the trip, listened to what happened, promised to look into the situation with the driver, and worked to regain my trust with the company. Despite the bad experience with this bus driver, the company has worked to regain my trust and I will be riding again.

Uncomfortable Ride - Beware of No Leg Room

Unfortunately, we boarded the bus already filled with passengers. We found the last double seat left by the bathroom with absolutely no leg room whatsoever. It was as if they squeezed this seat in, even the people that sat directly in front of the bathroom door had ample leg room.

Very old bus with few shock absorbers felt every bump and could not regulate the airconditioning so it was freezing.

The buses used for my trip to and from Washington were old and uncomfortable. The shock absorbers were worn out so we felt every bump in the road on the way to DC. Everyone was freezing on my return Washington deluxe trip but the driver said because the bus was an older model the air conditioning could not be set at different temperatures... just freezing or off completely.

A very satisfactory trip.

We did a round trip and both were very good. The only negative comment I
must make was that when we left DC for NY, the bus driver didn't help anyone put the bags under the bus. It was very difficult for us to get them on and push them in.Someone had to help us. On the return trip, the driver was there and all went well.

Bad experience

The bus driver was late to the stop. The bus was supposed to leave at 6:30 and the bus did not even arrive until 6:45, and then everyone had to board. The bus probably did not leave Union Station until close to 7:00 pm which was extremely frustrating, especially when I saw all the other buses pulling out right on time at exactly 6:30.
