Great transportation option for DC to NYC

I booked a trip from DC to NYC. The bus stop for the pick up location was easy to locate. When I arrived at the bus stop, there was a Washington Deluxe employee there to help. The bus arrived on time, with passengers already on the bus. I already knew my stop was the 2nd pick up location. Passengers were quickly checked in and boarded. I was responsible for loading and unloading my own luggage at the bottom of the bus.

Seats are decent. The bus provided each row with a plastic bag for trash. Outlet worked without any issue. I didn't need test the WiFi but WiFi information was provided at the beginning of the trip. The cup holder was too small for my reusable water bottle but I think it fits the standard plastic 16 oz water bottles. No tray tables.

Bus made a rest stop at Denver for about 10-15 minutes. You can grab food, snacks, and beverages here, use the restroom, or just stretch your legs outside.

The bus driver was kinda hard on the brakes as it got closer to NYC. There was a handful of times where passengers had to use their arms to stay put. Overall, I got to NYC in one piece and arrived a tad bit early than scheduled. Stopping in Denver made the trip feel shorter.

Fast, Clean, Affordable

Selected Washington Deluxe a day before my departure back to DC and it was still a great choice. It was an affordable rate with only two stops, both in DC.

Great driver! Reliable Service

Most drivers on the DC-NYC route are eye-rolling and awful but my Deluxe Driver on a recent trip somehow struck the perfect balance. A couple of friends taking other bus lines up to the City the same weekend had TERRIBLE experiences with their journeys so I appreciate Deluxe all the more now!

Late bus. No communication. Exhausted driver.

I have traveled with Washington Deluxe often between NY and D.C. over the past few years. The clientele tends to be decent and the buses are pretty clean. Drop-off and pick-up are also at convenient locations in both cities.

Last weekend, I booked a bus ride from NYC to D.C. for Friday night. The bus was an hour late to arrive and no staff was there to fill us in. Those of us in line just waited around and luckily a bus did finally show up. By that point, the driver was exhausted (understandably so) and needed a break from driving. We made it to our destination safely. However, there was no communication from the company before or after the trip. Tickets were not checked upon boarding and the driver had to call in his own relief halfway through the ride at a random rest stop. There was also no wi-fi or working outlets. This company can improve upon its communications with customers and support their drivers in these situations.

Two+ hours late and no GPS

I have taken several round trips from DC to NYC on Washington Deluxe, and my worst experience was this past weekend. The bus was scheduled to depart Union Station at 1pm. The person who helps board the bus was no where to be found, and when the bus came at 1:05pm, the driver struggled to verify tickets on his own and get everyone on. The guy did show up, and we left at 1:20pm. We promptly got stuck in traffic that lasted through Baltimore, with no attempts to detour. Once we got to Northern New Jersey, it was already 5:30pm, the thick of rush hour. The driver announced he would take the Holland Tunnel, which was delayed 45 min., instead of the Lincoln Tunnel, which was delayed 1.5hrs. Once we got out of the tunnel, we drove in circles in Chinatown, and it took us an hour to get to the stop near Penn Station, arriving at 7:30pm. The driver was not using a GPS and he did not announce an apology for the delays.

Thanks to the bus driver for keeping a civil bus

First of all, a big expression of gratitude to the bus driver for announcing at the beginning of the ride that people should be respectful and keep their voices down and turn off ringers.

At some point during the ride, a man near me had his phone on, and the bus driver asked him to put it on silent, which I really appreciated, because fellow passengers do not take kindly to being asked by other passengers to please turn their noise down.

The ride was pretty quick for a DC to NYC trip, and the bus was comfortable.

Biggest complaint is that the wifi was spotty. This is usually my experience on buses, but it does seem like for the premium we pay for Washington Deluxe, this should be addressed. Dropoff options at Union Station & Dupont are very convenient, and pickup location is much better than Bolt & Mega, which are all the way in Siberia on 11th Ave. Thanks!

Can't beat the price!

Always great, SAFE, courteous drivers, most help with luggage in and out of the storage compartments, which at these prices, is very generous! The check-in coordinators are very nice, especially the gentleman at Union Station in D.C..

Comfortable, well managed bus

Washington Deluxe was great for the four hour journey to DC from Manhattan. It was air conditioned, comfortable and the driver was excellent. The only downside was the unreliable and really unusable wifi but that is honestly expected on a moving bus. I would recommend this bus company to anyone traveling that is looking for a cheap, safe and comfortable way to travel!

Long ride...missing amenities.

The bus was comfortable, but for some reason the driver decided to take all "back roads" which made the trip 6 hours instead of 4 hours from DC to NYC. I checked the routes on my cell at the time and they were all clear, inc. 95 North!? And the wifi did not work. It would be great if they had some sort of verbal or written instruction on the wifi. I took the train back to DC, not sure I would try the bus again. Thanks

Travel Time

I take 5:15 bus from DC every Thursday, travel time from DC to NY is 5 to 6 hrs, not 4 to 41/2 hrs. Drivers takes their sweet time.

Washington Deluxe is definitely the best of the bunch.

I had one question... the bus driver for this trip didn't allow anyone to sit in the front seats (both sides) if they were going to use a laptop or ipad. He said it interfered with his systems. This never happened before, so I wonder what's up. Any idea?
