Very different quality between two trips within the round trip I took.

The trip from DC to NYC was excellent. The check-in was efficiently done, concise but helpful safety instruction given, decent leg room, rest stop at a perfect timing and length of stop, efficient drop off at NYC. Only problem is that wi-fi was not working well so it was completely useless for any use.

On the other hand, for the way back from NYC to DC, the check-in process took unreasonably long time - no clear instructions on the process; a lot of confusion among passengers. Then the bus itself was very different quality from the previous one - no foot rest and tighter leg room. No wi-fi at all. It wasn't terrible, but it seemed a bit unfair to pay pretty much the same amount for both rides.

Return driver was falling asleep

Upon our return home to DC, the driver we had pooped in the bathroom smelling it up bad. We had an early bus and it was locked with him on it. He was falling asleep at the wheel. This guy made no stops like the driver did when we went to NY. It was so bad that the men on the bus talked a little louder to keep him awake. One Asian guy got out if his seat and walked up to him. Inspire of that, the trip was okay. Just unsafe with him slamming on breaks to avoid what was in front of him all along. Very nerve racking.

A decent travel options

This was my first trip with the company. Seats were comfortable and fairly spacious, with fairly good check in system. My first bus came around 25 minutes late, while the second one was on time. Buses were equipped with power outlets but unfortunately on both occasions they were not working.

Weekend Girl

I've been using Washington Deluxe to travel at least twice a month between NY and Washington. It is a comfortable ride that drops me off in the garment district, close to the train station that takes me uptown (home). The newer buses have nice seats, but ironically, I don't find them to be as comfortable as the old seats.

Wear your winter jacket and don't plan on timely arrival!

Experience was chaotic from the get. Bus was oversold, attendant to check reservations and luggage was nowhere to be found, so loading was a slow process adding to the delayed arrival. Air conditioning was needlessly blasting the entire ride, I felt like I was riding in a refrigerator. Driver took another route into the city to "avoid delays" and got lost. This resulted in a tour of Chinatown which was entertaining for people watching, but very frustrating as my boyfriend was waiting for me at drop point. Bus was 2 1/2 hrs late arriving, meaning pickup was also delayed for the poor people waiting to get back to DC. Overall a frustrating, cold experience!

Bus Trips to NY

I am very impressed with the comfort & feelings of having a safe, concientious driver on each trip I have taken between WDC & NY.

Location good, could be a bit more secure.

The bathroom window didn't close, and it wouldn't normally bother me, but there was a ledge which someone could climb up on to, to get in and I would of preferred a better lock on the front door. The studio had everything you needed, coffee, hairdryer etc. Great location as well.

Late departure with no explanation

I rode the 10am bus from DC to NYC on Saturday, June 25th. Not only was the bus over 1 hour late, there was nobody at the pick up point giving us any clarification of what was happening. We all waited with no communication from anyone at Washington Deluxe.

On top of that, the wifi didn't work the entire trip.

For the DC-NYC route, there are a lot of options for consumers and competition for business is pretty intense. This lack of customer service will now be an influence on whether I choose to use Washington Deluxe the next time I travel this route.

Best bus company DC-NYC

I've been taking the Washington Deluxe for almost three years roughly once a month and I think it's only left late once from NYC. In that case I received a message from the company ahead of time, letting me know that the scheduled bus had some issues, so they offered to rebook me on the next available bus, which happened to leave only one hour later. The bus usually takes ~4.5, in either direction. It's only when traffic is absolutely horrendous that it takes 5 hours. The seats are comfortable, the buses are clean and drivers are courteous. I have never felt unsafe with a driver, nor did we ever get pulled over or had any mechanical issues during the trip. No complaints! The price is definitely worth it, plus every 8 ride is free if you have an account with them. I've tried out other bus companies that may offer somewhat lower prices and regretted it every single time.

Unreliable

The bus was 55 minites late and when it finally showed up, it was a bus that was actually sublet from another bus company. The company had their own clients already on the bus, leaving very few seats for the boarding passengers. The seats were tight with not a lot of space between seats. I took Bolt Bus on the way back from New York and had a much better experience. I would not choose Washington Deluxe again.

On time and nice buses

Washington Deluxe is a great option for inexpensive travel to/from Washington DC and NYC. The pick-up and drop-off locations are very convenient, the bus always leaves on time, and the bus facilities are good. My only complaint is the lack of response from customer service. I tried to use a promotional deal from Travel Zoo which ended up not working, and I received no help from Washington Deluxe customer service.

Regular Traveler

I have been a regular traveler of your bus for over 2 years. These are my comments:
1. Price is reasonable.
2. Wi-Fi & outlet is a plus
3. Recent improvement of customer service on the bus with driver taking care of our luggage by placing it in the storage area. This is normally done by the customer.
4. No rest stop which coincides with the website instructions of travel time with no mention of bus stopping. Too many times there has been inconsistency with stopping without notification or customer taking too long making travel time longer.
5. Bus left a little late but we made it too NYC just a few minutes late. Not bad for a Friday.
Suggestions
One thing I would like to mention is the reclining of seats. On my trip to NYC the passenger in front of me reclined his seat so far back that it was practically on my lap & I am not a big person & yet I was uncomfortable even after he reclined his seat up a little. On my return trip two passengers had an exchange of words regarding the seat reclining too far back. This made several other passengers uncomfortable including myself.
My suggestion is to prevent the seat from reclining way too far back or better yet make seats further apart giving more leg room.

Otherwise the trip in general was good & I will continue to choose your bus.

Trusted service

This bus compnay is hands down the best. The buses are either new or in good condition, dont have to worry about it breaking down on the side of the road like with other buses. The drivers are responsible and courteous, the inside of the bus and the bathroom are always clean, and the ride is downright enjoyable. Plus the prices are reasonable and the promotion of getting free tickets is also worth it. Highly recommended.
