Bright Side moving company…

I contacted Bright Side moving company in the winter for a summer move of indeterminate date. Ben Grayson worked with me throughout the months preceding and was timely and helpful and even had solution to decrease the cost. We changed the move date several times as we received new info about closing date. He was very patient and said it happens all the time.
The week of the move we had a new contact-Scott- who also explained each step.
The four moving men were quick, knowledgeable and packed our four bedroom house in 3.5 hours! We got much more in the truck than we thought possible.
Highly recommend Bright Side as well as the independent movers they hired coincidentally from non-related Brightside Co.
Would repeat the experience in a heartbeat.

Brightside Moving Group for the win! Due to work obligations, I was not able to help my wife move- but with the help of Brightside, we got it done! I appreciate the care taken by the men, moving an entire home takes care, and I am fortunate I found the right people for the job.

Scammers/Brokers

Bear with me as this will be a long and well founded complaint. This "company" is by far the worst company that I've had hired. First contact over the phone was with rep Zachary which was all nice and polite. We explained that we have a big move from Los Angeles CA to San Antonio TX and we were very specific on what size of home we have and also the time for pick as I needed to be out of the current rental property and in my new job by a very pinpointed date. So he gives a quote that seemed pretty reasonable assuring us that the space offered was enough for our home size and that the pick up was going to be in around 2-3 days.
We paid the security deposit of $2,400 at that moment. Time of moving came around and they gave us a Friday for pick up which was excellent, we waited all day and nothing. They called us late on Friday (Patrick co-owner) of the company according to him to up-sell the space needed for only an extra $3,000 dollars! insane right? he was too sales-many pushy about the upgrade, we declined.
After the sales pitch he told us the movers will be there on Saturday from 9-1 then they called us (local movers) to give us a new eta of 3-6 PM and nothing! We contacted the bright side because time was ticking and we had to be out by Sunday. Brightside did not care as they keep saying "well we are still within the 3 day pick up time. On Saturday around 6:30 PM another driver from a different local company called to say "I'm 3 hours away from you and I don't think I have enough space for your move"
unfreaking believable! I told them please call your dispatcher or manager to fulfill your end of the deal. I want the space it was promised and that we put a down payment on. The driver calls me back saying
"my dispatcher told me that we'll be there tomorrow from 9-11 am WHAT!! at this point I am so upset and disappointed with this "company" but we are running out of time. So guess what? exactly! on Sunday they switch the pick up time from 9-11 AM to 1- 3 PM and then from 3-6 PM keep in mind that we have to vacate Sunday!
Movers showed up at 8:30 PM high as a kite the truck smelled like weed and the drivers did not have any ID with them, they showed me a space in their truck that was way smaller than the 590 cubic feet we were promised and when I asked the guy "can I please measure it? because this is not 590 cubic feet" "he said no, I cannot let you do that, that's my company policy" then I said " ok let me talk to your manager" he refused. Then he comes back to me saying "Well my dispatcher said that if you want all the truck to yourself it is going to cost $10,795 dollars! Ridiculous! Furthermore, he goes "also if you cancel the service right now, your deposit of $2,400 will be lost as it is not refundable" I was beyond upset at this point. My wife and I called Brightside the next day and pretty much they did not care and bragged about highlighting the fact that our deposit is not refundable. They cost my family extra expenses and 3 days of income as I could not start on time for my new job in TX and caused us a lot of stress. Please stay away from these SCAMMERS that all they want is your money with their very unprofessional and scammy business practices.

First and foremost, I want to clarify that our company, Brightside Moving Group, is indeed a moving brokerage, as clearly stated on all our documents, paperwork, and websites. We have never claimed to be a carrier, freight broker, or freight forwarder. Our transparency in this regard is paramount, and we make every effort to ensure that our customers are aware of the nature of our services.
Regarding the broker fee paid to Brightside Moving Group, it covers the assignment and dispatching of a motor carrier. Our estimate was generated based on the inventory list supplied to your Logistics Coordinator. May 30th when you booked your move, the inventory at that time was just under 600 cubic feet. Quality Assurance Dept reaches out to each assigned move before pick up to verify inventories and explain the "dos and donts" of moving. Per that call you had more items equaling an estimated 800CF(cubic foot). At this point you refused to move forward with Quality Assurance and add the cubic footgae needed based on the new inventory.
Upon pickup, the carrier assessed the estimate according to the actual space required for transporting all your belongings and told you the same thing they explained in Quality Assurance.
It is important to note, as outlined in our contract, that any additional space, packing materials, or services beyond the initial estimate will incur extra costs.
In our payment authorization, which is signed by all customers, clearly states that this fee is for arranging a fully licensed and insured motor carrier to handle your household goods and possessions. The team did come out and they did attempt to move. Unfortunately you decided not to move forward. This is why the deposit was non refundable.

Worthless movers

How can you fix your company?
Go out of business. Liars all the way around.

Leroy sounded so honest.
Cost me thousand more than they told me. They even had the nerve to ask for more money before the move. 250.00 but I found out they gave themselves a bonus. Actually only had room for a bed and dresser. They promised we paid for a captains full bed, dresser, futon, 2 sm desks a computer chair and 25 boxes. SCAMMERS
RUN FROM THEM.

Total scam!

Total scam!! Do not use this company. Gave a quote and then the day they came to pack and load, they did a virtual tour and final walkthrough/documentation and the quote nearly tripled! We actually sold some of the items to be shipped so it should have been less. You never speak with the same person. The people they send to pack and move are contracted and not associated with their company name. These are regular people and NOT true professional movers. They damaged our floors! When I mentioned it, they simply said call the company. Took 8 hours to load three bedrooms and pre-packed boxes. When the items were delivered, we were missing items. All lamps they packaged were broke and ruined. Some of our furniture were missing bolts that may have vibrated loose in travel? The same furniture had a white waxy liquid on it and the driver rudely said “it shipped that way.” No it did not! Then wanted me to sign I received all my items knowing full well that we had 28 boxes in the garage that were not opened. When I emailed the company about the loss and damage of property..no response. This company is a hustler operation! They give you a great quote and then the day of (when you are leaving and have no other alternative) they change the quote! Movers are regular people and not professional movers. Do not use this company. You will regret it.

It seems the cost of the moved increased based on the information provided. When Quality Assurance checked in it seems there were a lot of additions to the inventory. Additional space, packing materials, or services incur extra charges as per our contract. The paperwork says there were no additional costs on pick up, therefore our estimate was very accurate.

We consider reviews and complaints but heavily depend on our Customer's Personal Experience with Carriers.
That being said we are truly sorry for the damage to your furniture during the move. Brightside takes responsibility for ensuring that the moving companies we work with are reputable and handle customers' belongings with care. My son has no bed!

My son recently moved from Pa. to Va. They picked up his belongings on June 21 2024, it’s now July 9and he hasn’t received anything. He calls every day and all he is lies,lies, and runaround. Not one person he's talked to tells the truth or calls him back. This is horrible and unacceptable behavior for a moving company. I would like to know what is going on with this company!!! Do we have to take legal action to get any answers. My son starts a new job tomorrow and is sleeping on the floor cause he has no bed. Brightside should be ashamed to treat people like this

I contacted a few moving companies and brightside was the most professionally one I worked with. Move got cancelled on my end and they fully refunded our deposit in a very timely manner. I woul call them again if our situation changes.

Believe me, my review is coming as a 76 year-old widow I have never been treated so badly from promises promises promises to a bad delivery 30 days later even the police had to be called because they sent the wrong company to deliver and he spoke no English , he had no help. They are NOT a real moving company

They are NOT a real company! they sell your moving contract to subcontractors that are under investigation for fraud. This is a SHEL company to cover fraudulent businesses. Their subcontractor ( possibly the owner of all these fraudulent companies are the same people ) delivered our boxes opened with missing items as well as missing 3 missing boxes. when confronted Bightside movers refused to follow up and stopped answering our calls. Their subcontractor offered us less than a dollar per pound of missing items. About $3000 worth of items are missing and they refused to check their warehouses and offered less than $100 in compensation. TOTAL SCAM! already reported to federal authorities for fraud.

If this is a real complaint from one of our clients I'd like to address some of your concerns. We are a legitimate company that services hundreds of clients per month. As a licensed moving broker we do not transport your items but instead create estimates on behalf of the carriers within our network. If there was damage to your items during transport we will be more than happy to assist you with the claims process with the carrier. The claim we are some sort of shell company is Ludacris. Also stating we have stopped answering your calls is just not true. Listen to every single 1 star review and notice the nearly identical bait and switch tactics. Low quote, quote increases, then quote gets out of control and sketchy people show up to "move" you. Mitch doesn't add his last name to anything for a reason.

Terrible broker to use

Terrible broker to use. My contract had delivery dates, the third party they used Cita Van came days later with half my items and charging me $300 due to steps. They told me they either had to deliver my items 2 days early or 1 week late. Then the owner of Cita Vans hung up when I expressed my contract had neither dates and not possible. When they arrived days later, imagine someone telling you to pay $300 when large items like your TV, futon, couch, coffee table etc (to name a few) are missing. I paid for assembly and reassembly of my items and my bed has no slates or screws. BRIGHTSIDE will not call you back even if you speak to Carl, Frankie, Steve or Phillip to help you navigate issues with the 3rd party they selected. I originally thought I was booking directly through them, you are not. You experience will solely depend on the 3rd they sell your move too. They sold me to and from love to two separate places, both companies blame each other for my missing items. Do not be fooled by these reviews, I was and now out of thousands of dollars. BRIGHTSIDE does not care, especially Carl and Frankie. Try to find a local moving company directly, much harder with long distance moves, but will save time and money. Only half my items arrived, most smelt or urine and there were roaches in the boxes that did arrive. You’ll only be reimbursed .60 per pound of items you have pictures and receipts for, for damages. Run… they are nice in the beginning but 0 help after, even after promising to call back the the “Sup” Carl did numerous times.

The stair fees are legitimate charges assessed by the carrier as outlined in our agreement. We would have tried to assess the stair fees in the original estimate but you did not have a delivery address at that time and explained you would advise once you had it. You provided that to the carrier after pick up so there was no way to know if there would be a stair fee. I apologize if the First available delivery date on your Bill of Lading was confusing but there are no guaranteed delivery dates. That is the first available date that items can be delivered or after. The FADD is when the delivery window starts. If you are missing items or have damages to your items we will assist you with the claims process with the carrier.

Would not recommend this company

Would not recommend this company to anyone. Received a very reasonable quote for our cross country move. On the confirmation call we added items we'd forgotten, and the quote increased by nearly 4,000. Were told that our deposit was not refundable. We were told if we decreased/consolidated our boxes and got closer to the original inventory we would only be charged the original quote. We spent hours doing this and got rid of more things so the move would be cheaper. However when the men arrived to load they had no idea what we were talking about and we were still charged the higher quote. They also said it would take about a week, and it's been over a week with zero update from anyone. I have called, left voicemails and multiple emails. Terrible customer service and very misleading business practices. I question if any of these five-star reviews are real. Next time I'll save the money and load myself with Upak.

Classic Bait and Switch

Classic bait and switch. What a mistake it was to hire this company. They are not the ones that will move you. they will contract your move out to at least two other companies. They will tell you what you want to hear when you call, and give you a hell of a quote, however. Then a completely different company will show up at your door. And it will be a company that you never would’ve hired on your own… A company with horrible reviews. They will walk in, with guys hired from Home Depot… They will throw your belongings in boxes, with no care at all. Then they will tell you that you’ve gone over the quoted price, and you will be extorted into signing something and paying more, because your things will already be in the truck and you will have no other choice. Then, it will be another company altogether that will do the driving. You will be extorted once again… Told that you have to pay more because the distance is different than what the driver expected or the driveway is too small for his truck… And you will have to pay more if you want to get your things out of the truck. And when you object, they will point to the small print that you were forced to sign. By this time, your things will have been moved about five times from one truck to another, from one warehouse to another, etc. You will be bullied, and it will feel like something out of a bad movie. You will have no recourse, because none of these in-between people can be found… They’re all from different places and they are mean and horrible. Shame on this company. They are just brokers. And they are crooked as can be.

Awful awful awful
Pricing changed 3 times from the stress free move I was sold
They brokered our move to a company that delayed our items by almost a week and then finally showed up in a dirty trailer and refused to put items in our garage so my husband ended up doing all of that himself
2 items broken and 1 missing
Paid almost 9k from original quote if 5300 for the most horrible moving experience and this was our 3rd long distance move

Trustworthy and quality work

Trustworthy and quality work. used Brightside for my move to the Inland Empire. Anthony made me feel comfortable and he was very patient because I asked him a thousand questions lol. most companies were pressuring me and he gave me space to make an informed decision ! on moving day Brightside's movers were very kind and and even protected my grandmothers old curio cabinet with crating. they even helped shipped my car so I could take a flight. great job guys thank you. will be using you again.

Trying to increase the quote after the signature

Trying to reach the agent, no response for mails, phone calls not attended or returned. Corrections suggested seems to be not taken care, worried on how the shipment will take place.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. The gave me one quote, took a huge deposit of over $3k and then had some “quality assurance” person call to go over the estimate. With very few actual changes the price went from $7k to over $10k. Total bait and switch. I am within the 3 day window so hopefully they refund my deposit as they are required by federal law but we will see. I wanted to warn others to stay away from this broker.

Nothing about our company or your experience was a "scam". You gave an itemized inventory over the phone and we provided you with an estimate. You put a deposit down for the move. We called you a few days before pickup to confirm the inventory and you added a lot of items. The price went up. You cancelled and we refunded 100% of your deposit. There's no scam or conspiracy here. Your price was based on CF and these are estimates.
