Unsafe payment handling

Absolutely horrible way of handling payments. I made a booking request. Wimdu took the money from my account immediately when I made the request. The request was refused after few hours. It took 6 days until the money back to my account. Without having the money in my account I was not able to make another booking and I needed one during the following 2 days. I called customer service and they told me it was my fault that I did not read the terms and conditions carefully. This is WIMDU's fault for taking/blocking funds before making sure that service will be provided.

Very rude people

Very rude people. They dont send any information about the booking and then, one day, the guest show up at your door. Wimdu never more. No App for Android. Also, no communication. Poor communication. I am out! Airbnb is way better.

We had an issue with synchronization …

We had an issue with synchronization with the Airbnb agenda. It was clearly blocked on Airbnb and it didn't block in the Wimdu agenda. We had a double booking and Wimdu tells me it's our our mistake. This because if you sync TripAdvisor with Airbnb and it blocks in Airbnb this doesn't mean that it will block in Wimdu. I tried several times to explain Wimdu that it should have blocked in Wimdu too. But in the end I had to pay the cancellation fee and received a bad automated review.
Can anyone relate to this too?

Very bad

Fatal. My apartment in Lisbon was under construction and Wimdu refused to give me back in money. It does not offer solutions to problems and keeps your money. Excessive risk.

They just are not worth it!

They just are not worth it!
I have a house to rent, I work with boking and airbnb and the fact is that the wimdu is several light years away. The service is awful. They just can not solve my problems. I rarely can get into my account. I might even have forgotten my password and when I ask to renew it, I do not receive any mail so that I can actually renew it!
Days later I can enter and then I can not enter.
A real waste of time!
I do not advise anyone. Use airbnb or boking

Wimdu will trick and swindle you

We sent Wimdu two emails from our Ipad and gave them our mobile number the morning after our arrival in Las Palmas, saying that the property was not acceptable and we would give details if requested.
We explained (several times) that our PC in the UK could not be accessed by us but they could use either the Ipad or mobile for such details.
Wimdu never ever contacted us,so we told them we were moving and went However when we arrived home in the UK we found emails from Wimdu on the home PC saying that as we had not responded to these (unseen) emails our money was forfeit.
This remains their position despite not denying our emails to them or rebuffing our grounds for moving (photos etc).

Misleading bad service for guest and host

Two reasons that leave me pulling out of this whole thing after the initial experience as a host.

1. We waited a week after listing our room, and heard nothing. I rang, spoke to a guy who was difficult to understand, and sounded like he was home with the baby, waited 4mins listening to music at £0.65 per minute while he put me through, and was then cut off. Nothing. Then I wrote on their chat box, and was phoned back, seemingly from New York. He too sounded like some bloke doing it from home, rather than anyone official. He asked me if it was right that the room was unavailable on a particular weekend, and I said yes it was right. That was it. He activated it. So there was absolutely no check on anything about us as hosts, or about the room, or whether we were prepared. So the quality of rooms and hosts will be anybody's guess. Plus I already know that it will be impossible to get hold of anybody if something goes wrong - as the many other reviews confirm.

2. An hour or so later I looked to see the listing. I searched for 1 person travelling for dates I know we are available. The list Wimdu offered started with a couple of cheap rooms, and then offered me as a single traveller apartments for 2-4-8 people! Our lovely room for 1 person was listed after all of those, right at the bottom. So any single travelling person would not see it. When I log in, Wimdu is telling us our advert is unattractive: We need 15 pictures not 5, err of one room!! We need to make the cancellation flexible, not strict, err it was their choice and we thought about it. We need to charge less to be competitive, err no thanks. What I realise, is that their reason for demoting us to the bottom of the list is that their algorithm thinks our single bedroom is less attractive for a single traveller than the apartments for 2-4-8 people. It is barmy! We have a room that is one hell of a lot nicer than the competition, the 5 photos show it, we know what we want to charge, and we don't want cancellations 2 days before. I think we can trust the traveller to make a judgement about what to book. I don't need the Wimdu system to decide for them, and make us invisible below things that are clearly wrong. It is exactly what other reviewers have said - Wimdu apply pressure on the hosts to lower price, allow cancellations, etc. No way! Enough already.

Never ever Wimdu again!

You don´t get any help from Wimdu!

We rented an apartment for a week via Wimdu in Apartment Novello Road, Fulham, London. One of us got an allergic reaction because of mould in the accommodation, so we really had to move out and find another place for the rest of our stay.
We got no help from Wimdu despite we called them instantly the very first morning.!
"If you are unhappy with the property for any reason you must contact our Customer Support Team within 24 hours of checking in. We will do our best to help resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

Bullsh*t! This beautiful talk is nothing but bullsh*t!
They needed proof, like photos... Well, how do you find proof in this situation?

So, not one single pound of refund! No security for the customer at all!
And at last, Wimdu do not allow you to write a review on their site!
Wonder why???

Dreadful, villas can't be booked with confidence.

Tried to book a villa in Mallorca, online, went through payment process and Wimdu took payment in full. Then we had the nonsense of completing a profile for the letters benefit.... renting a villa not going on a date. then after 24 hours email from Wimdu saying tough luck cancelled because the letter hasn't replied in the 24 hours allowed. An hour later another email from the letter saying it was already booked anyway. Wimdu then tell us the refund will be with us in 3 days. So the Wimdu business model is to take immediate payment for villas that are not available and sit on the money for a couple of days. A CON.

Good experience

I booked with Wimdu for my holiday in Amsterdam. Because it was my first time using this kind of platform for accomodation, I was reluctant, but everything went smoothly. I even contacted the wimdu customer support via phone to ask about my payment They were quick and clarified my questions. the stay was very pleasant, and so was the communication with my host. Will surely use the site again!

Easy and Trustworthy

I called the customer support before booking because I had some questions about the payment. Not only did they clear all my doubts but also offered to call the host to double check availability and amenities.
Will use them again for sure!

WIMDU SUPPORT GONE DOWNHILL!

I have, up until recently been happy with WIMDU although The Rivals have a much wider market. Booked 6 months ago to go to Lanzarote for a week in February (very busy high season hence early booking) 3 days before travel, curt message from the "host" telling me apartment not available! Offered me one on other side of island in remote resort. Not acceptable so Wimdu said they'd help me.. left me dangling all over weekend (NO 24/7 hotline) not knowing what was happening re my money or alternative accommodation found. Finally today (less than 24 hours before I fly) email saying no hosts found so refunding money. Fortunately my husband was wise and booked alternative with booking.com, so we wouldn't be at Arriceffe airport tomorrow with nowhere to stay! Very stressful weekend indeed, absolutely unacceptable. WIMDU have lost a customer!

Beware of Bait & Switch Sales Practices!!

I booked a rental on Wimdu, and the "host," tried to get me to switch my rental to another apartment across town. I didn't like the alternate apartment, and so I declined. Then, she began to use all kinds of threats and intimidating tactics to bully me into taking actions that would make me have to pay for the rental without having a place to stay. I had to be very firm with the host, and jump through hoops with the wimdu staff to get out of the rental and get all my money back. It was an AWFUL experience, and the worst part is, the wimdu site won't let me review the host and warn others! These sales tactics (bait and switch) are illegal in the U.S., and by colluding with the host, the whole wimdu company is liable. Watch out! Go elsewhere!

Unbelievably bad service

I have advertised my b&b on Wimdu, but yesterday removed my listing due to the terrible way they treat hosts.
We received a booking for 2 people which we accepted, however when the guest arrived he was a single man expecting to bring local 'ladies' back to spend the night with him.
When we advised him this was not allowed he advised Wimdu that we had cancelled his reservation. This was not the case, and in fact we allowed him to stay one night (alone) as he had nowhere else to go.
Wimdu dealt with this situation extremely badly, threatening us with a one star review and no payment. They kept insisting that we accepted a booking for 2 people so we had to allow 2 people to stay. They kept sending emails threatening us of what they would do to our listing, rather than trying to help us.
Also we upgraded this guest to a better room and then Wimdu told us we are not allowed to do that!! Why?
So in the end they didn't pay us anything, although we allowed this man to stay one night.
Don't use this company as they won't help you if you encounter any problems, they don't care about people, only about the money.
Disgraceful

Be careful as a host !!

As a property owner you have to be careful about the fees and extra charges that may apply to you without any considerations or concerns; but if there is problems with guest or damages at you property they would do very little to help.. I had to cancel couple of bookings with 2 months of notice and still had a cancelation fee which we were not aware of it, the best thing is that that fee does not go the the guest !! Shame that wimdu is turning into this type of company that just hoes behind the money !!

Disastrous experience with Wimdu

We have been cheated by Wimdu: we rent an apartment in Reykjavik for 4 people, two nights, in June 2016. We were unable to check in there. The host address was incorrect and the contact telephone was not registered (checked by local police). Wimdu charged immediately, but the host gave no sign of life ever, despite our repeated attempts to contact him, to discuss the details of check-in. Wimdu has not wanted to take any responsibility despite being the only money and communication managers with the host. We tried to inquire in the area about the apartment but nobody knew anything, neither the police. We had to find an alternative accommodation and the next morning we contacted Wimdu via its website, several hours before 24 h indicated by them as a deadline to pay the host. The service customer only serves to pretend they have, because they do not solve anything. Their excuse was they had already paid the host. This service is diffuse and they give preset answers, without capacity for solving problems and taking care of the quality of their offer, (they still are offering the same apartment). It seems they do not have any interest in keep customers. Wimdu is like a web of contacts that you do not know how many are real.

For hosts, Wimdu is extremely aggressive in getting you to accept most/all bookings

I have been a host with Airbnb, 9flats and Wimdu, and Wimdu is by far the most 'militant' with their arbitrary 'rules', and is the most aggressive in pressuring hosts to accept most/all booking requests that come their way.

If I as a host do not reply to a booking request within 24 Hours of the request being made (and it does not matter if that request was made by someone in Europe during the middle of my night, and then by the time I wake up, go to work, and later check my emails that 24 hours has passed)...Wimdu does not care. If I as a host did not respond within 24 hours, the request is automatically cancelled and I as a host receive a 'demerit' more or less from Wimdu. If this happens repeatedly then my apartment listing might be ranked Lower in Wimdu's search results.

Likewise, if I as a host receive a booking request and first contact the potential guest to get a bit more information about them, and the guest does not respond within 24 hours, and so the request is not Accepted by me within that 24 hour window, again, the original request is Cancelled by Wimdu and I receive another 'demerit'.

If Wimdu sees that I have no accepted a certain number of requests within the required 24-hour window and/or I Declined a certain number of requests (which I often do as a SINGLE FEMALE, because the guests provided NO photo of themselves, NO profile on themselves and wrote me NO personal note....while THEY got to see my Photo, my Profile, a Description of my home, Photos of my Home, and Excellent Prior Guest Reviews.... while guests are able to see ALL this information about me and then expect me to welcome them, whom I know NOTHING about, with open arms...)...if I decline such requests because I do not feel comfortable inviting people who've given me NO information on themselves...Wimdu will eventually PENALIZE me by completely removing my listing from their site.

I've complained to Wimdu about this repeatedly...that they should never PRESSURE hosts...especially SINGLE FEMALE hosts...to accept all or even most requests, especially requests where the person provided no information at all. But apparently Wimdu does NOT care. They care more about simply getting their commission from bookings. They don't care WHY I might be declining requests.

Wimdu has the audacity to ask hosts to provide their photo, description of their home, photos of their home, and likes to talk about how their Guest Reviews can provide potential guests with some 'peace of mind'. But what about the piece of mind for the HOSTS? There is apparently none.

Another time I had a confirmed guest reservation for about 7 months in the future. 3 months prior to the guest's arrival, I realized I would have to move out and into a new apartment, as my rent had a big increase. I informed the guests immediately, telling them that while I'd be happy to host them in my new apartment, that I could not yet tell them WHAT that new apartment might be like, and that if they wanted to make a reservation with another person instead, that I'd understand. I even provided my guests with ALTERNATE nice apartment hosts on Wimdu, that they might want to contact. The guests were EXTREMELY appreciative and understanding.

But Wimdu? They did not care that I'd given the guests plenty of notice and assistance. Because it was I who cancelled the reservation (and not the guests), Wimdu 'penalized' me by writing an automated review that this reservation was 'cancelled by the host', and Wimdu then applied a review rating of '2' out of a possible '10'.

They are really unbelievable horrid.

Easy to use accommodation site

Used wimdu 3 times now for city holidays. Site easy to use, information and pictures accurate, comments useful, owners all helpful and can easily be contacted before booking and after to get useful info (eggs which train station should we use) and local information regarding travel, events, food etc. Will use again.

Great accommodation services

I was on my last holiday with WIMDU and all was perfect - searching accommodation, booking, payment. Perfect services. Only one negative thing - too high fees for WINDU and senseless fee for PayPal payment.
