Awful

I tried to make three reservations thru Wimdu for last August. Two were OK, the third one they could not process my credit card, told me it was some third party's fault, refused further help. So I dealt directly with owner, all went well.
Today, more than three weeks after return, have heard nothing about security deposit refunds, Unable to contact Wimdu, no phone number ore-mail address, website contact form fails repeatedly. Appears that they have folded/absconded/been abducted by aliens?

I will certainly never use them again. Perhaps a fraud case should be investigated?

WIMDU 200€ FRAUD

On 14th May I booked and apartment in Munich through WIMDU (wimdu.com). Once booked, WIMDU informed me I had to pay to the supposed owner of the apartment 200€ deposit. I paid it (bank transfer).

On 10th August WIMDU cancelled the booking (without any specific reason). The amount of the booking was returned back in a couple of days.

I requested to the owner the 200€ of the deposit (as the contract was cancelled there is no more “deposit”), informing them about the bank account, etc.

More than one month later and I am still waiting.

Someone with a similar experience? Do you think is a some kind of fraud where WIMDU and a supposed owner act as accomplices? Do I need to expose it to the police? Thank you.

Best regards,

Wimdu Payment

As a guest, I was a little disappointed at the lack of return confirmation after making the payment for my booking, therefore I decided to reach the customer service. All was sorted out in a few minutes. Wimdu has provided a great and professional help towards my case and my vacations went as expected.

Wimdu Support

I´ve heard some complaints about Wimdu support but to be honest I can´t complain. I sent an email to customer support and got a call the next day apologizing for the delay. Being high season and everything I think that´s acceptable.

No support - difficult to contact

We have listings on Wimdu and have been waiting for payment for 4 days now. If you try and contact them via the contact page / Submit a Request the system does not allow it - just keeps reloading. If you try and contact them via Chat, they are not available.

This is not good enough. Our listings will be coming off today.

Total breakdown

I had similar problems as Maaike below. Their 'contact' page seems to be disabled, it just endlessly reloads when you try to submit an inquiry. On their helpline you get an automated message. The current payment never arrived.

The difference is that my listings still exist, and just three days ago they upgraded them to instant-book.

At any rate, German Manager magazine reports that the company is bankrupt, so good luck trying to get your money back.

I'd recommend not booking anything for the time being.

awful

I am a host at Wimdu and had, until recently apparently, 3 properties advertised. Suddenly I started getting mails from a certain Samuel Velho from the Wimdu Support Team that I needed to get in touch. I answered his mail, and the next 5 that he sent, but he never got in touch to let me know what the problem was. Then I got a message that my payment preferences were no longer valid and I should get in touch. By now I had phoned countless times and sent endless mails but to no avail: I simply cannot get in touch with a live person to find out what is going on with my account. In the interim it seems that my password has been changed as I cannot log in anymore. Has my account been hacked? Does Wimdu still exist? Today I decided to search for my properties online with WImdu and guess what, they have all been deleted. Still not any wiser as to what is going on with WImdu!

Waste of time - Untrustworthy Ads

In my experience, searching holiday homes in this website is waste of time. When you look for a holiday home, it shows lot of properties available on that particular dates. When you try to book the holiday home (after entering your credit card details), it will not allow you to book the property without giving any specific reasons. Instead, it will ask to you try again and again. When I try to call the support (UK number) during working hours, nobody received my call.
In my opinion, this website is managed unprofessionally.

Wimdu Host Comments

Reading all the 1* negative reviews I do not recognise the Wimdu through which I have been a host for five years in Scotland, through both Wimdu and AirBnB. I have had dozens of happy visitors from all over Europe and wider afield with Wimdu, but the climate is changing.

For the past two years Wimdu's customer service to hosts has been abysmal, and probably for guests as well. If nothing goes wrong then it seems to work well. but very difficult if any kind of contact is required. There have been some scam scares, about which they reacted reasonably but only by email, however it is now impossible for either host or guest to telephone. if there is a problem needing immediate attention as happened with German guests yesterday, there was no way speak with anyone, and from experience a major delay can be expected as well as possibly inaccurate attention to details.

The London and Germany numbers that worked previously are now dead. I no longer have confidence in Wimdu's administration. On several occasions I have made constructive recommendations to improve service and working, all to be ignored. I joined to share my home, not to battle an indifferent organisation.

Three years ago between AirBnB and Wimdu, more than 60% of my bookings were with Wimdu. Today only a handful, which possibly reflects I suspect the high charges I find in Wimdu's pricing . I have been a dedicated committed host wishing to share my home and hospitality, but I am seriously considering cancelling the Wimdu connection. It is not worth the headache and sense of insecurity.

What a terrible customer orientation!

I booked a room in Berlin via Wimdu and used my discount coupon. But later on that day when receiving the booking confirmation, I found out that my discount coupon amount was not deducted. I reacted the same day and asked for a correction and to use and deduct my discount coupon. Wimdu only responded after a month and only after I sent a reminder. Wimdu said I made a mistake and that they cant reverse because of procedures...I emailed back and mentioned that it is immaterial who made the mistake because I still have the unused discount voucher to use. Wimdu responded that I did not follow the procedures correctly so that they cant help me. I told them that I made the reservation with Wimdu because of the discount, Wimdu did not care. Their inflexibility is terrible and they still charge their fees to me on this booking.... The booking was made with my credit card. Wimdu could easily credit my credit card, so that is not a difficult procedure. But they claimed that they have to involve the host for this discount, and that cannot be done after the booking is made... What a BS. They dont need to contact the host because they can take the 'loss' themselves and keep the host out of our discussion... This company has a very bad level of customer orientation!!

SCAM

We rented an apartment in Miami this summer, payed in full, received all confirmation emails from Wimdu med all info but when we arrived in Miami THERE WAS NO APARTMENT. Wimdu does not take any responsibilities and they have no idea who is renting out these places, they do not check the hosts or the places. 5 more people/families have been fooled this summer. SO DO NOT USE WIMDU!!!!

Wimdu and Kingly Rentals not to be trusted

I have had very bad experiences with Wimdu and Kingly rentals. Wimdu is not to be trusted, many advertisements on their website are false. I came in contact with Kingly Rentals through Wimdu. I was ripped of by Kingly Rentals, it is a fake company. Be very careful when dealing with these two companies!

Fake companies at Wimdu >> Kingly Rentals

Do not book thru Wimdu. Trying to book a villa at Ibiza we got in contact with a fake company - Kingly Rentals - and found out they steal peoples id's/pictures. Their web changes all the time - new names, new pictures. So be careful. Do your research - and for good sake - AVOID Kingly Rentals!!! They're fake.
