Trustworthy, and unique

Found a property that could not be found elsewhere. Reservation was easy, handling was uncomplicated. The possibility to communicate with the host in advance to the stay by means of internet forms is very useful. Perhaps that some standard procedures, such as a standard form for letting the host know your time of arrival, would lead to a little less friction ahead to the stay.

WIMDU.com- great website for looking apartments

I love using wimdu.com, it's great website for looking apartments in all Europa. I found here amazing apartments in Dublin, Roma and Warsaw. Every place was clean and contact with owners was amazing.
I strongly recommend this website for looking nice places for spend time in other country.

I was happy with choice and experience but needs some fine tuning

It was a good experience with our apartment selection in Munich but for North Americans it is very important when booking an apartment that it clearly states whether it is a smoking or non smoking unit. Also, it is just as important that the landlord is held to that.
But over all the selection process was easy, the apartment location great and the apartment size as described. We would rent the unit again based on our experience and needs.

Super Customer Support!

I was kind of anxious before booking because some comments here, Everything went fine with payment, stay and the customer support. There is an emergency line that works 24/7.
I totally recommend it.

FRAUD - LOST ALL MY MONEY - NEVER AGAIN!

HACKER/FRAUD On WIMDU -Management knows - but does nothing, and run away from taking responsability.
We booked through Agent house on Mallorca, which we found on Wimdu HomePage. The person/house was FRAUD, and we lost a lot of money (2 families). Wimdu removed house and agent immediately, but dont want to refund us the money. Look further back on Trustpilot -exactly same thing happend to other families earlier in 2015. Poor management that knows they have a leak in there system, but keep on selling, and does not take responsability for there product. Be carefull, and even better: BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Great experience

The apartment was great, exactly as advertised. It was clean and ready and the cleaning lady was there to meet us when we arrived. The apartment was larger and cheaper than a hotel room, in a better neighborhood and with a kitchen and washing machine. I would certainly do it again.

Just great

Very fast to find a good apartment and book it with instant booking.

It was not individual host, but agency, which was obvious when looking at host's profile at wimdu. And they have handled everything very professional.

Took my money and have not yet got them back!!!

We were asked to give the provider a disposition fee and by leaving the rent. Some day before departure we asked the provider to show up at a certain time. He did not come, so after waiting long enough we had to leave for the flight. We left the key and money (excluded the disposition sum) for the provider. When we got home wimdu had taken the rent from my bank account too (=double rent). Now I have contacted the provider several times with all info needed to pay my money back. I also have contacted the wimdu team. You all know what happens when contacting the team (=wait for a couple of days and then asked to solve the problem yourself). It is said that Wimdu will be cheaper than a hotel and with the same service. I don't agree at all!!
Never more!!

Poor Customer Service

Never again! Poor service and the worst customer service ever. Basically they don't have a telephone number in the website (why? Uhm...strange), you have to submit a form and then you receive an automatic reply that "soon" someone will look into your issue. Soon... It's been 2 days... I'm still waiting for an answer. It was something urgent so I tried to contact them via facebook but simply useless: they misunderstood the question and replied to me with a template. I tried to explain again but no answer. They simply forgot about me. Since there are a lot of website where you can book your accomodation I strongly recommend NOT TO USE wimdu: a part from their fee (very high compared with other websites) you are not protected as a customer, why pay more to have less?

Thieves

as soon as they've got your money they cancel your booking and keep themselves invisible. No refund given. A very very bad experience. You'd better reconsider if you are thinking of booking via wimdu.

Promise Wimdu in 24 hours paid after the client is in the house on 3 may 2015. And takes 5 days to sent to the bank. 12 may 2015 received nothing and from that date emails with promising and do nothing.

Bad service!

I tried to book an appartment through this website. The appartment was refused so I tried to contact their customer service to get answer.. No way of reaching them by phone. Only messages through their website. But they haven't answered yet!! After 3 days of trying to reach them.

The transaction was expensive: over 1000 euros and I have no idea what's going to happen with my money. I advise anyone to avoid renting on a site that is incapable of answering their customers' request in a reasonable timeframe.

Inna apartment Harlem NY

We rented a flat in the easter break April 2'nd to 6'th , in Harlem
- Madison Avenue 1937 , owner inna sobel.
The appartment was run down with holes in the floor, doors missing locks, and towel hangers broken. On top of that the whole appartment was extremely filthy and greasy, obviously not cleaned for a long time. Over the entire break we had only automatic system replies from Wimdu, obviously immun to our claims including everything pictured.
Never.... never... again Wimdu.

Wimdu double charged the booking fee: it shows 10.5% booking fee line item, and add another hidden 10.5% fee to the price hosts set

I noticed Wimdu charged a total of 21% on top of my pricing. Wimdu charged double the fee (21%) it claimed (10.5%). One line item shows 10.5% booking fee, but also it adds another hidden 10.5% fee to the price hosts set (The guests have no way of knowing, but just assume that's the price hosts set)

I contacted Wimdu. Wimdu did not respond to the specific percentage of the fee add-on to the host pricing, but vaguely admitted there are two parts of fee: hidden fee added to host pricing (which the guests will never know), and an additional line item of 'displayed' Wimdu fee.

For example, for a 14-night stay inquiry to my listing:

1. My current price setup is
$240 (for 11 nights) + $198 (for 3 nights) + $75 cleaning fee = $3309

That's what the guests see on their side:
Price for 14 nights
$ 3656.45 US
Wimdu fee:
$ 347.44 US
Total:
$4003.89

2. Calculated total Wimdu fee percentage:
($4003.89 - 3309) / 3309 = 21%

3. Hidden fee for 14 nights (added onto the price set by hosts):
($3656.45 - 3309) / 3309 = 10.5%

4. Claimed Wimdu fee:
$ 347.44 / 3309 = 10.5%

Wimdu's booking fee structure is deceptive and exorbitantly high !!!

This Site hosts SCAM properties and could not care less if you are cheated

We booked an apartment in Paris over new year but just before we left we realised that we had been scammed when the "property owners" stopped corresponding. The scammers advertised their property on Wimdu, who claim to have checked all listings and all correspondance was sent on fabricated Wimdu headed paperwork. When we complained Wimdu took no responsibility and we are £2000 out of pocket. We have since alerted them to other scam properties they are hosting but still no compensation. We are experienced travellers but were still caught out by the professional scammers who use this site to advertise. BE VERY CAREFUL.

Think twice before trusting this company

If I were you I would not trust this company. Let me explain you why:

I believe this company is misleading its own hosts (and guests) with a so called 500.000 Euro worth insurance policy in case a guest causes a damage to the property (or its contents) that is above 150 Euro`s. Actually the cover is only for accidental damages which is not mentioned or underlined at anywhere on their website. Meaning: if a guest drops your TV and breaks it by accident their insurance cover is valid but if they punch it and break it, is not valid.
I have had a bad experience of a Wimdu guest staying in my flat throwing a drugs fuelled crazy party and completely trashing the place down. The damage was simply tremendous in the property as they checked out. Both the police and Wimdu was informed about the damages and everything broken/destroyed has been noted and photographed. The company's first reaction was that they needed approval from the guest who caused the damages to be able to start with insurance claim. But they couldn't reach their own registered (!!!) and verified(!!!) guest. What's more interesting is that they ended up getting out of the situation by naming the incident as vandalism in the property and that their insurance is not suitable for this kind of damages. As a host I feel completely fooled and cheated by Wimdu because I wasn`t warned at any point while signing up as host that a guest might book my property with malicious intentions like partying, drug taking and vandalising the content and that I would not be covered by an insurance in such cases.

I intend to seek legal compensation against my damages and the misleading advertising (according to my point of view) on Wimdu.com website. Below you may find a copy of their response to my claim:

Dear Alpay,

Thank you for contacting us and for your patience.

After receiving your email, as you had already contacted us twice about this issue, we sent an email directly to the insurance company to understand the status of the request.

We received information that unfortunately, the insurance company will not activate our insurance for this case. There are two issues mentioned for this decision.

The first was the inability to contact the guest and confirm the damage made to the property. I had mentioned this issue when you reported us this case, and as stated at the time, what we did was send all the information to check if it would be possible to do it even without the information on the guest's side.

The second point is to consider this case as vandalism. Our insurance is designed to cover accidents and unfortunately the company defined it as an act of destruction and not an accident.

Not only as a company, but also personally, we are sorry for this outcome, but we are not able to activate any support in terms of the damage on the property. What we can do, and will continue is to help with the investigation, and provide any official information as requested.

For any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to search our FAQs or to contact us using the “Help” section on

So that we can improve the service provided to you, we would love to get your feedback. In 48 hours we will send you a satisfaction survey where I invite you to rate the support that has been provided to you.

Best regards,

(Name removed). from the Wimdu Support Team
