DO NOT BUY A CAR BATTERY FROM THIS…

DO NOT BUY A CAR BATTERY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!
I bought my first battery for my 2013 Kia Rio In 2021 from the Lake Charles, LA local store. Paid 156.00 dollars for what was supposed to be a 3 year battery, guaranteed for at least 2 years. The battery went bad in a little over a year, so they replaced it. That October 2022. Fast forward to May 2024, and yes, you guessed it, the replacement battery tests bad. So off I go to the same store, and ask for a replacement, as the second battery lasted slightly more than a year and a half. They refused, saying they wouldn't honor the 2 year guarantee on this battery, as it was a replacement for THEIR DEFECTIVE BATTERY. I of course was not pleased. TWO BATTERIES from the SAME COMPANY, that wouldn't even make it 2 years. FYI I baby my car, keep up with the best available synthetic oil changes, etc. My mechanic at Mavis even tested my car's electrical system and daid it was fine. (The excuse the mamager at Advance tried to sell me), Bottom line? Buy from anyone other than these people.

Just Stay away if you order online and need to do a return. They only return to original payment and will not give store credit even when you tell them the card does not exist anymore you bought this on due to being hacked. Now I have 50.00 in limbo somewhere but needed new headlights that were only 6 months old. What a joke!!!!!!!!

Management

I needed to replace my engine and cabin filter in my 2016 Ford Transit Connect. I purchased both filters from a girl named Shayla. I knew the air filter was rectangular in shape, but she insisted that it was the cylinder type filter because that’s what my vehicle called for on her computer.

I didn’t install them immediately because I had other things going on that needed to be handled. A couple of weeks later I found time to do it and discovered I did need the rectangular filter and the cylinder filter didn’t go anywhere in my vehicle. I couldn’t find anywhere it went. I Googled and YouTube everything I could find to see how this filter went in my car and came to the conclusion it was the wrong one.

I went back to the store on W. Meighan to exchange it for the right one, and told the guy behind the counter (Seth) what had happened. He said it was the right one according to his computer. He then proceeded to tell me how he had to fire the girl (which I thought was totally unprofessional) that sold me the filters, so I assumed he was the manager. Then I asked him if he could show me where it was supposed to go, and he immediately got an attitude with me, and rudely said, he didn’t know anything about air filters, so I asked him to come out to my car and look at it. I showed him where the rectangular shape filter was and he seemed somewhat frustrated but we went back in to his computer and he was able to find one that kind of matched up with the one that I took out. I asked him if it would be okay for me to see if it fit, he seemed hesitant but said okay, so I did. It was the only one they had that matched up so I placed it in and it was a fit, so I put the cover back over it and locked it into place.

When I came back into the store to pay the difference on the return he informed me that I wasn’t allowed to install something that wasn’t paid for in a very rude tone. I apologized and said all my stuff is sitting here on the counter I wasn’t gonna leave and planned to pay whatever the difference was ($1.80) because I live in the country and it was a long drive for me to have to come back. I told him we must have got off on the wrong foot and I apologized because he still seemed frustrated. When I came back in the store I had sat the old filter on the counter and some debris fell out and I apologized again for the small amount of debris that got on the counter. The whole time he was mumbling, something under his breath, and his attitude and demeanor had changed more towards me. I wiped the dust off the counter and he replied with “Yeah just knock that off onto my clean floor”. This was such a petty comment coming from what I assumed was the store manager and unprofessional to say the least. Because, you know I could have walked in there with dirt, mud, or anything else on my shoes that would get the floor dirty and it didn’t set right with me because he was just being rude again. I immediately said you can give me a refund on the cabin filter now (which was probably the right one but I didn’t care to do anymore business with them), but I paid the difference on the one that fit since it worked and I had already installed it.

I will never go to this location or any advance auto part store again because this young kid didn’t know how to treat customers. I will tell everyone I know not to use them because people like this make their whole business look bad.

I called another store and talked to a manager named Hope. She was very kind and apologetic about the way I was treated and told me she was sorry on behalf of Advance auto parts. She told me she would contact the District Manager (Amy) and she would call me back but I never received a call from her. I saw another review from two weeks ago on google where someone had said the manager had an attitude. I learned that this new manager had only been there for about a month, so I could safely assume this was the same guy.

I left and went next door to O’Reilly auto parts and purchased another cabin filter and the guys there treated me with great respect and kindness. The guy even showed me how it went it and made sure I was happy. So, for anyone that reads this just know that the manager at this location is rude and didn’t have any knowledge of the parts I needed, and probably lacks knowledge of other parts as well. Don’t waste your time at Advance, just go right next door to the guys at O’Reilly auto parts and they will take care of you and treat you with respect.

It’s all about Christian at Inverness store

This review is not exactly about the Inverness Florida advance auto parts store but instead about the absolutely outrageously great service, I received from the one single employee by the name of Christian. This kid is going to help turn this store around as it has been pretty crummy for a couple of years since the previous manager by the name of John left this store. This kid was all smiles and yes sir and direct answers and no BS. Helped me order some parts on their website and had them there within a few hours. All correct parts. Unbelievable service. Every employee at this store needs to follow in this young kids footsteps. He has set the bar. If the others don’t step up, this young kid will be their manager very soon and he will clean house. This store needs a deep cleaning! Great job Christian! Now I can start going back to the store to purchase parts as I had been buying them at AutoZone to stay away from the negative atmosphere at the store!

Lifetime Warranty not honored

I bought a steering rack in 2005 with a "Limited Lifetime Replacement" warranty. The rack failed in 2012 and they replaced it. It went bad again last summer and they refused to warranty it. I called the 800 customer service number and was told that the "lifetime warranty" now means they'll make ONE warranty exchange, EVER.
That's not the way it was back in 2005. On my last car, the spark plug wires went bad every three years, and they replaced them every three years.
I sued them in Small Claims Court and won. I photocopied the judge's decision and the check Advance Auto Parts sent for the full $326.99 plus the $10 court fee, so... don't bother flagging my review as false because I'll upload proof.
Conclusion: Go ahead and use Advance Auto Parts if you like, just be aware that their new lifetime warranty only includes ONE exchange ever.
PS: The other guys still exchange their lifetime warranty stuff an unlimited number of times, even on brake pads. I'm sorry I can't mention their business' name, because that's considered a "Promo", which is against the rules here, but ask around and you'll learn who they are.

I went in because I noticed the washer…

I went in because I noticed the washer fluid in the overflow, for my coolant were both dry and empty. Kevin.L of Store, 5349 was rude and condescending, and when I told him what I needed, he grabbed both items off the counter, and without a bit of conversation, rang them up and then walked away as if I was a complete annoyance to his day, making him do his job, another associate was there and I explained this matter to him and he did come out and check the fluid levels in my vehicle and told me that Kevin is just an old army guy and he’s gruff like that, and I told him well I’m also military and you don’t treat people like that, and he was beyond unprofessional. I appreciated the other guy that came out and assisted me but I will never go back to this crap store and I damn sure will report him to corporate because if he thinks he’s too good to do his job, maybe he needs to sit on his couch, unemployed to realize how lucky he is to have work. Way to go Kevin now you can get recognized for the crappy service you provided at 4121 Oleander and 41st St. in Wilmington, North Carolina. Don’t waste your time or your money in this place. I give them less than one star if that was possible.

Above and Beyond

I came in to Advance Auto Parts on Friday, 1/27/24 with low expectations. Not because I of the company, as I have never shopped there. I was in need of a new battery, and I was just preparing myself for another bad retail experience, either due to a lack of service, a dearth of employees or poor service by someone who couldn't care less about their job. Jeff, the GM, was extremely helpful, (I am not mechanically inclined, ) and in my opinion, he went above and beyond typical customer service to assist me with a battery for my Toyota. He was able to look up the correct battery needed, offer me addtional corrosion protection, which I took, and he even installed the battery for me himself. My faith in good service has been restored. Thank you, Jeff, I will certainly be visiting the Advance Auto Parts at 3103 U.S. Highway 9 in Old Bridge for my future automotive needs. Best, Anthony

Trash company

Trash company. Ordered $400 in parts that I find cheaper elsewhere. I requested to cancel my order 10 mins after placing it and wasn’t connected with a service rep till 30+ minutes after. When I tried to proceed with my cancellation the rep informed me it was past their 45 minute cancellation window. Terrible company policy if you don’t have the service to allow me to cancel in time. Will never buy from this poorly managed company again. Can’t wait for your stock to plummet

AAP is declining - sell your stock

As an employee of the company of nearly a decade, I can say with certainty that the company has only gotten worse over the years instead of better.
I could say I was one of the lucky ones, in terms of pay, however, they have not given any raises in quite a while.
Part quality has decreased, work load has increased, more things you’re required to do for no bigger pay.
Part of the reason why things are going downhill is a series of bad decisions at the top, cutting staffing, reducing insurance coverages, and mainly…bad pay to the employees which results in both dissatisfaction with your job and lack of care to do better and take care of the customer. How can you expect anybody to be taken care of properly when you’re asking your employees to be satisfied with $11/hr?
Most recently there was a company wide pay cut, so now I’m also part of the mass exodus that’s going to leave the company in a bad spot. There’s no reason for me to keep working for a company that thinks they will get anywhere by reduction of employee pay on top of already low pay. That all leads to low quality help and lack of knowledge of the staff that does work there. If you’re lucky….you would have run into a ASE certified mechanic on staff who would be able to steer you towards what you need and diagnose your issue correctly. Unfortunately, those people like myself are leaving the company….because the company doesn’t value its assets - its people. So…they will leave & overall quality will go down.
The insurance is a bad joke. Only there to appear like they offer it, but it is a joke of coverage. Like…a bad joke. I still can’t afford what they offer…as it’s ungodly expensive with super high premiums on the low end and unaffordable premiums on the high end. & now with pay cut….forget about it.

As a customer, I urge you all to support better companies that take care of their employees. AAP has lost sight of their own and imo, it’s time to bail.

Orders never ready for pick up

I just give one star because they never have the orders ready at the time I arrived for pick up in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico Store. I don’t know if the same happen in other locations but it is very irresponsible from the manager of the store permitting this to happen all the time. Hope the main offices take part and solve this.

Great experience Advance Auto Edgewood Maryland…

I recently had a great experience purchasing a car battery from Advance Auto Parts. I ordered the battery online for my wife’s car and when I went in to pick it up, it was not in stock. I spoke with Brian Battaglia and he assured me that I could get a refund or pick up the shipped-in battery later the same day, so I chose the latter.
I called Brian to confirm the battery's arrival and picked it up a while later.
In particular, I want to give a shout-out to Brian Battaglia. He was the associate who helped me, and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about car batteries, and he was able to answer all of my questions. He was also very patient with me, and he took the time to explain things like battery testing, warranty date placements on the batteries and also assuring I received my military discount.
I would highly recommend Advance Auto Parts to anyone who needs to purchase a car battery. They have a great selection of batteries, their staff is always helpful, and their prices are very competitive.
If you are in the Edgewood, Maryland area, I would also recommend asking for Brian Battaglia. He is a great asset to the Advance Auto Parts team.

This is a review of Advance Auto Parts…

This is a review of Advance Auto Parts in general, corporate/company, not for the local stores. Bought a lifetime warranty alternator and two years later it failed to charge, leaving me stranded. An expensive tow home and return to the store showed the alternator was bad on their tester. But..., they no longer have an alternator for my vehicle (older Mercedes diesel) in their system. So..., they refunded me. But the refund went to a card that is no longer valid and it did not go to my new card number (same bank/account, different card number). Repeated calls to corporate and they claim that it can take 3 months to come back to them (in this day of computerized ACH's and such, this is complete nonsense!), then they'll refund me in another way. So I'm out the money for this "lifetime" (made in China rebuild, so "lifetime" just means the lifetime of the crappy rebuild) AND have to fork out ANOTHER $200 for one from Napa. The manager at my bank wrote a letter that they've checked my account and it has had no transfers, returns, etc., in the amount that Advance claims they refunded. Advance corporate doesn't care, they're just glad that they got my money and will never refund me. I've shifted to buying my own and parts for customers vehicles from other sources now.
