Dreadful attitude when dropping donations into the shop in Bingley. I took some “high value” items into the shop and was pretty much ignored at the counter for several minutes. When the female attenda... See more

Quite despicable that people are leaving bad reviews for Age U.K. I volunteer for them by calling an elderly lady each week. They also provide services to the elderly such as check up calls and financial advice. What other charity helps the elderly so much?

I was watching your advert on Sky News. The theme of the advert was that old people are lonely and feel invisible. The people used in the advert appeared to be in their 60s, or less. It caused me to feel that those who are really the invisible ones are the generation in their 80s and 90s. This is probably not the case as far as Age UK are concerned, but the advert does imply that even Age UK have forgotten those who are older than 65. Not a good advert for Age UK.

Handyperson requested for Mum's curtain rail which had come down less than a year after being put up (by someone else) - very prompt service, saw what the problem was which had caused the old one to fall down (an error on the part of the previous fitter causing it to keep catching, getting stuck and having to be yanked to get it to draw which weakened the whole thing, I had had my suspicions) and all fitted now with no more problem!

Age UK have been so amazing, I don't know where I would be now if it wasn't for wonderful caring people, Jose, Donna, Kelly and Melissa and all the staff, they look after my mum who has Dementia,
They really couldn't do enough 🙏
And I'll never have words to thank them all and the volunteers, thank you so much 🙏

After filling out an application form, I have sent multiple texts/emails to the team in Leeds over the last few months trying to arrange an interview for volunteering and they don’t bother replying to you and act like they aren’t looking for volunteers. I’d recommend not wasting your time and instead try to volunteer somewhere else! It’s a shame as I was eager to volunteer.

It is good to engage with people over e telephone, and to be honest, I prefer working here for free than most paid jobs.

This is no charity. They dont care about helping people. This is a company trying to make money using the excuse of charity. It makes me angry when they dont want to collect a perfectly good electric reclining natuzzi sofa that has no damage apart from some of the pain on the searing area looking dull. They drivers didnt even take their shoes off to view the sofa and they didnt want it. Its not a sofa for the bin. Charity my back side

Got a back pushed through my letter box asking for unwanted clothes. Great, we had a load bagged up and ready to go. So we left them outside the front door ready to collect.
Nothing. Still there in the evening. Read the bag and found you have to leave them on the path outside your house.
So my wife contacted them as the day had gone by for collection. Was told go and put the bags out on the path now and someone would be round to collect them. Got o 8 in the evening and they we still there.
So my wife contacted them again only to be told they couldn't collect for another 3 weeks.
What a waste of every bodies time. Organisation is so poor.
Gave the clothes to Planet Aid. Much more worth charity.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Stalybridge Age UK charity shop, and I must say, their team managers are the true stars of the community. Their kindness, caring nature, and unwavering support for Age UK's mission is truly commendable. Not only are they hardworking, but they go above and beyond to raise vital funds for a noble cause.
The team's dedication shines through in every aspect of the shop. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and valued by the staff. Their enthusiasm for helping customers and their genuine interest in making a positive impact on the community is truly heartwarming. The selection of items in the shop is remarkable, and it's clear that they take pride in curating the best offerings for their customers.
What's truly impressive is that they've extended their opening hours to include Sundays, making it even more convenient for people to support Age UK. The dedication of the volunteers is also worth mentioning. Their commitment to the cause is evident, and they contribute to the warm and inviting atmosphere of the shop.
It's undeniable that the managers are the driving force behind this wonderful shop. Their hard work and dedication have turned it into a lovely place to shop, and their exceptional customer service deserves recognition. I believe they should be honored with an award for their outstanding efforts in going above and beyond for their customers and the community.
In a town with several charity shops, Stalybridge Age UK stands out not only for the quality items they offer but also for the genuine kindness and care they exhibit. It's clear that their success is a result of the fantastic team they have in place, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to experience it firsthand.

Age UK now in partnership with Silverline, so they are bringing each other down. Emailed a query to Silverline, received reply from Age UK, absolutely useless - just sent me a link to some government department to get the info. For anyone confused, elderly and needing a bit of encouragement they are an insult. Time to dispand this useless so-called charity

Dear age UK
Thankyou for your response to my review.
I am aware that each Age UK office is independent and it's not your responsibilty to facilitate a base in each area.
However after waiting 1.5 hours on the phone to your help and advice because your website stated even if you cannot find an Age uk near you please contact us we here to support you only to be told about a CAB.
however due to my persistence your help and advice line agreed to call back the next morning (as you were suggesting ) offering hope . However next morning it was the same the CAB but as I was not around. it's easy to convince an older adult who doesn't want to be of trouble,to except this conclusion. I certainly will not be recommending Age UK in the future . I work in an NHS Trust that covers enfield haringey and Barnet I will be sharing my experience with colleagues so they do their due diligence before they refer anyone . I Understand you cannot support every older adult from every community in which case represent Age Uk in an open honest and transparent manner so older adults can make informed choices Thank you

This company employs people that have an agenda against others and they need to be brought to answer as to how they treat their workers, nothing but 2 faced hypocrites.I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. They call themselves a caring charitable organisation, what poppycock!

I am disgusted in the way a handy person came out to put a fence up in 12months of it being there it was warped parts of wood coming loose loads of hairline cracks in it the fence looks like a 12yr old fence instead of 12months I am a disabled pensioner got a little dog that needs to go in yard. The person came out to look at fence & sed put oil paint on it its cheap wood oh I paid £335 for this fence not happy at all put a complaint in!!! Sheila

Spent 8 months on the waitlist for services. Received a phone call but explained it would be best to rearrange and we were currently travelling to the hospital. The reply from the person on the phone was rude, condescending and patronising. Unfortunately, this has been common theme with services for the vulnerable and elderly recently.

Today I observed an Age Concern event attended by my Dad and nine other attendees. This was held at the Wycliffe Rooms in Lutterworth involving seated exercises to Music where a teacher instructed attendees which movements to make to various songs. It was a relaxed session with refreshments in the form of tea, coffee or biscuits provided afterwards. The price is £4 for the event which lasts for about an hour and a half from 10.30am to 12am on Fridays. I would recommend that people continue to attend the sessions. After being placed on a waiting list demonstrating popularity of the events today was our first visit.
