Absolute garbage airline

Toilets were a mess within two hours of departure. There was toilet paper all over the floor, and even spilling into the passage way. Cabin crew just left it.

Only one of them was helpful and friendly, the rest had terrible attitudes and looked like they hated their jobs.

My nephew's flight was delayed by 6 hours, and they did not even have the decency (and legal obligation under EU law) to feed anybody. Each passenger is entitled to €600 in compensation, and I hope as many as possible take it up.

This really is a low-class, trash airline. It stinks of cheapness and cut corners everywhere. If you hate somebody, book them on air europa.

It is actually worse than US carriers. It must be what communist-era airlines were like.

Avoid This Airline: High Cost in Stress & Time, Zero Accountability

My recent experience with Air Europa was severely disappointing and completely unacceptable. The journey was defined by cost-cutting measures that resulted in a genuinely miserable experience, and a catastrophic flight cancellation that remains unresolved months later.

While the fares might tempt budget-conscious travelers, I advise extreme caution. The difference in price is not worth the resulting degradation in travel standards. The long-haul flight conditions were appalling. The cabin was severely congested, offering ridiculously little room for a transatlantic journey. We were truly packed in like sardines, a clear example of prioritizing profit over passenger wellbeing. The food service was equally disheartening. The portion was meager and insufficient, and the subsequent announcement that no more complimentary food would be provided - only paid options - was deeply frustrating on such a long trip. On the connection from Rome to Athens, they couldn't even provide complimentary water.

My worst experience involves a flight cancellation from Athens to Paraguay, where an internal Air Europa airplane issue led to a 54-hour total travel time. During this, there was a shocking lack of communication from Air Europa staff, leaving us stranded, stressed, and uninformed for many hours. This failure to provide basic customer support during a disruption caused solely by the airline is unforgivable. As of today, more than four months have passed, and I have still not received the compensation owed for this significant delay. Air Europa must improve its service and honor its commitments.

First class is a scam.

My biggest complaint is the scam for first class. Had a ticket in coach from Munich to Madrid, about 2.5 hours. Minimum bid of 120 to upgrade to first, I bid 130 and got it. The seat map shows four seats across in first and 6 across in coach. When I got on the plane there were six seats across in first but what you are paying for is an empty seat between you and your seatmate. The seat was the exact same as in coach, which my friend said was uncomfortable. There was just a curtain hanging between first and coach. There was no extra recline and there was no extra legroom between you and the seat in front of behind, the same as in economy. I specifically got it for legroom as I am 6'3. Oh, and the food was terrible! Worst food I've had on an airplane in years. So it got me from point A to point b. Had I known the seating situation I probably would have saved $130 bucks and bought something good in the airport to eat on the plane for the flight.

Ok for the price

Took a flight from Madrid to Asuncion for 700$. Everything was okay. Seats were a bit uncomfortable, as in any coach. Food was good. Service was minimal but efficient.
I came with low expectations, and was not disappointed nor surprised.

Terrible

Absolutely a ridiculous airline. The flight from Madrid to Zurich, scheduled to depart at 2:55 PM, took off at 4:22 PM. Technical issues might happen, but an hour passed without any information. Making an announcement shouldn’t be that hard. No care, no apology. I will definitely never fly with this airline again.👎👎👎👎👎

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I bought a ticket with 2.5 hours waiting between connections.

I paid more for this ticket, because I don't like to wait for long hours at the airport.

I bought the ticket in May, yesterday they've sent me an email saying that I'll have to wait for 18 hours instead of 2.5.

I called them, but they said that is the better option.

I cancelled the ticket and asked for refund.

Never Again.

A disastrous journey with Air Europa: delays, stress, and lost luggage

A disastrous experience with Air Europa. My flight Tunis–Madrid (UX1116) arrived almost one hour late, leaving me less than 40 minutes to catch my connection to Malaga (UX5035). On Google, it was shown that the arrival was at Terminal 2 and that the second flight also departed from Terminal 2. In reality, after landing, we had to endure a long 10-minute bus ride to Terminal 1 — eating into the already tiny connection time. As a result, at 6 a.m., exhausted and without having slept, I had to sprint across the entire Madrid airport, go through passport control and security, and reach Terminal 2 just in time for boarding, completely out of breath.

As for the luggage: Air Europa forced us to check in small cabin bags (due to lack of space on the plane). So, in Tunis, I checked in both my large and my small suitcase. At the boarding gate in Madrid, I asked whether both my bags had been loaded and was assured twice that they had. Yet in Malaga, only the small one came out. The large one — filled with frozen food — had been left in Madrid. After a whole day of calls without any reliable updates, I finally received it the following day, wet and partially damaged. The delivery agent even admitted that this is common: bags are not really “lost” but simply left behind when there isn’t enough space. According to him, the airline prefers to say they are “lost” because it looks “less bad” than admitting they were intentionally left behind.

In summary: major delays, zero coordination between terminals (especially with delays), and a suitcase delivered the next day in poor condition. A catastrophic experience I would not wish on anyone.

Honestly, I wonder if an elderly person could have even made the second flight in such a short time (passport control, security, and crossing the entire airport in just 30 minutes!). Luckily, I speak the language… but imagine the extra challenge for someone who doesn’t.

Avoid Air Europa — 3 months and still no refund for a canceled flight

My NYC → Munich trip (UX92 JFK–MAD on 20 June 2025, connecting UX1517 MAD–MUC on 21 June 2025) was canceled after we were already on the plane. We were told to keep receipts because hotels/transfers “weren’t available,” and later I received an email from Air Europa Customer Relations authorizing a refund for the unused ticket via BSP.

Three months later, I’m still chasing the basic fare refund (not EU261 compensation — just the ticket money). My bank asked the airline to simply confirm the refund noted in their own email, and Air Europa has refused to provide even that. They offered small reimbursements (meals/transfer) but have not returned the ticket cost. Endless runaround between the airline and the agency, zero ownership from Air Europa.

This has been time-wasting, stressful, and unacceptable. If you value your money and sanity, think twice before booking Air Europa.

Well I was looking for a direct flight…

Well I was looking for a direct flight from Europe to Latin America without touching US grounds and wanted to fly with Airbus rather than Boeing. I just booked one week ahead of departure and managed to score a flight for 900 Euro one-way so it was okay, and I reached Lima.

Awful experience

Awful experience, XL seats close to restrooms, where you expect adittional space, becomes a corridor where every body want to use, if you tell that is private area, as the flight attendant says, the passengers comes rude and aggresive, I informed this to the flight attendants, they says that they can’t do something that put a bag on the space to block the space to others - flight 193 MAD - BOG

It would be more pleasant to walk

I’ve flown with many airlines but Air Europa stands out as one of the worst. London to Madrid was fine – clean plane and reasonably courteous staff – but from Madrid to Cancun it was a different story.

The toilets were dirty, staff looked unhappy and were brusque, and on a nine-hour flight the only time I asked for anything, a glass of water, I waited more than 20 minutes with no response. At Cancun baggage reclaim a crew member even pushed past me as I was collecting my bag.

On the return flight I woke with a splitting migraine and felt sick, eventually vomiting in the toilet. I repeatedly pressed the call bell for water: after about ten minutes the light went out and nobody came. I pressed again, same result. When a stewardess, Isabel, finally came over she raised her voice and said she only spoke Spanish or German. I replied in basic Spanish that I had a headache (una jaqueca) and asked for water and an aspirin. She said “agua, fine” and walked away, frowning. Fifty minutes later I still had no water and had to wait for the drinks service.

The only bright spot was Christina, who helped with a connecting flight query during deplaning and was kind, clear and correct about what I needed to do. She was a credit to the airline.

Given the cost of the ticket the experience was shocking. Even Ryanair staff are polite. I will not fly Air Europa again.

Comments for Air Europa:
Please pass this feedback to the crew involved, especially Isabel, and use it for additional training on customer-service fundamentals: responding promptly to call bells, maintaining a visible cabin presence, communicating politely and calmly when a passenger reports illness, and checking toilets regularly. Please also recognise Christina for her helpful and professional conduct.

Great customer service and practical, economical Flex tickets

I have had several excellent experiences with AirEuropa, the latest today. Buying a Flex ticket doesn't cost a lot more. It's worked well for return flights between Gatwick London and ViruViru, Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Changing the date only cost me 35 cents of a Euro. Very good UK customer service on phone with a real person. Spanish gets through more quickly. Highly recommended.

They have terrible customer service

They have terrible customer service. Continuously over booking, just becasuse it's not illegal. And even though you have already paid for the flight your left with well it's over booked so you dont get to go on. No one offers solutions until the last minute and your mostly left with I guess your just gonna have to wait and figure it out.

In the end they were over booked because instead of seating passengers who had already paid for their flight, they boarded 13 members of their crew and 13 of us were left with out a flight.

Please never fly with this airline. All they car is about making their buck and nothing else.

DONT fly with Air Europa

I've flown Air Europa twice. Every time I travel, I tell myself, "I'm never going to fly Air Europa again," and this time it's a given. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable, they sell you headphones on 11-hour flights, but the WORST of all:
- The food they serve is in poor condition. I got food poisoning like never before; it's been 24 hours and I'm still poisoned. It was the worst flight and the worst experience.
- The service is terrible. Instead of making the passenger feel good, they make us feel like they're doing us a favor, when we pay a fortune for a ticket that ends up being for a LOW-COST flight.
Now, I'm never flying Air Europa again.

Look for another job

22/08/25 | Madrid (23:35) - Asunción (06:15) | UX0023
I had an "xl seat" in row 40. Nr 40b in the middle. This is not xl but s. Every time the light went on. And the 500 visitors of the toilet kick against your feet all the time. The toilet was never cleaned.
The worst was the stewardess who had her seat in frent of me during take off and landing. It's obvious that she HATES her clients. What a horrible person.

We nearly suffocated before departure

We nearly suffocated before departure. This happened in both outbound and inbound flights. The inbound one was particularly bad because the departure was delayed by nearly an hour, and we didn't get any warning or explanation until after take off.
