0 stars - Disastrous Experience – Appalling Boarding Process

My flight from Ibiza to Madrid on 17 August with AirEuropa was a complete disaster. The boarding process was chaotic and unfair, and it left me determined to avoid this airline in the future.

At the gate, several passengers—including myself—were forced to surrender our hand luggage to the hold under the pretext of “lack of cabin space.” However, upon boarding, I discovered that the overhead compartment above my seat was completely empty. When I asked the crew to allow my hand luggage inside the cabin (it was still outside and easily retrievable), they refused without showing the slightest concern.

To make matters worse, my bag contained valuable and fragile personal items. Other passengers were allowed to bring their hand luggage on board, yet I was given a dismissive, nonsensical explanation about “safety.” The reality was that there was ample space for my luggage, but the crew simply did not care.

This inconsistency, lack of transparency, and disregard for customers is unacceptable. Unless AirEuropa urgently improves its boarding policies and staff attitude, many travellers—including myself—will be forced to turn to competitors who treat passengers and their belongings with respect.

Air Europa Business Class is a…

Air Europa Business Class is a disgrace. I tried to change my flight because I was ill, but was cut off again and again, wasting a fortune calling back. The call attendant sighed constantly, spoke too quickly, and was difficult to understand. There was zero empathy and zero professionalism. For Business Class, this is shocking. Absolutely not worth the money. Never again.

Disappointing experience for a 12 hour flight

I recently flew with Air Europa on a 12-hour international flight, and I can honestly say it was one of the most disappointing long-haul experiences I’ve had.

First, drink service was practically nonexistent—they never came around offering water or beverages during the entire flight unless you specifically asked. For a flight of this length, that’s unacceptable. We were given only two meals: dinner and breakfast. My breakfast was served cold, which was not a great way to end an already uncomfortable trip.

The seats were so cramped that when the person in front reclined, I could barely move my arms, let alone enjoy my meal. You’d expect a bit more space for such a long journey.

They advertise paid Wi-Fi, but it was a complete waste of money—it didn’t work at all. As soon as we landed and I switched to my phone network, all my messages started coming through, proving the Wi-Fi was essentially useless.

To top it off, there were no complimentary earbuds for the in-flight entertainment. Instead, they charge €3 for cheap, poor-quality ones. For the price of an international ticket, basic amenities like this should be included.

Overall, this flight felt cheap, uncomfortable, and poorly managed. I will not be flying Air Europa again.

Worst airline ever

Honestly the worst service you can imagine. Flight was cancelled and was informed whilst on the plane waiting for take off, while obviously happy that we never left due to engine issues, from that point on, complete incompetence, lost the business class seat that was paid for, no communication, blatantly lied to from the booking office in Havana. 24 hours wait for another flight, no compensation even after stating the regulations, just a sorry email and look forward to welcoming you onboard..... believe me, that will be never. Claim now handed over for legal proceedings.

Avoid Air Europa – No responsibility taken for delays or compensation

After almost two months, I’ve been trying to claim the 250 € compensation I’m entitled to under Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004, due to a 6-hour delay on my flight with Air Europa.

Despite the legal obligation, the airline refuses to take any responsibility and only sends generic replies, without acknowledging the facts or offering any compensation.

They’ve definitely lost a customer, and I will never fly with them again. I strongly advise others to avoid this airline as well.

Important for anyone in a similar situation:
If your flight was delayed more than 3 hours, you’re legally entitled to financial compensation—even if the airline tries to avoid paying.
Don’t give up: you can submit a free claim to AESA, the official Spanish aviation authority, and attach proof of your delay. They’ll review your case and help enforce your rights.

Worst flights ever roundtrip Madrid /…

Worst flights ever roundtrip Madrid / Cordoba argentina. Travelled with two children aged 1,5 and 5 years and paid for extra footspace - which we did not get on the first flight. Not even an apaology. Just info on where to complain. When you're on a 12 hour flight with two kids where of one travels sitting on my lap - the extra space is absolutely neccessary. On the trip back another family had the same problem. Worst airline EVER!
Absolutely the worst staff ever that does not have any clue how to treat passengers. Do NOT - I repeat NOT - fly with Air Europa.
Absolutely horrific eperience.

I want my suitcase back. What’s wrong with these guys??

I keep forgetting that this company SUCKS. The work is poor, minimal, and unjust. I paid to add a 23kg baggage to my flight to Madrid, and upon arrival, the belt was NOT MOVING. Three suitcases were sitting there and the ENTIRE international flight from NYC was WAITING. We all waited for 1 hour minimum. I went to the desk to ask what was going on. The woman was unable to provide a SINGLE answer to my questions, and her attitude was very insulting. She barely tried to communicate in English with me and seemed upset I was coming to her with a problem. This one worker was the only one who could help, and seemed to refuse to. I left, because I could no longer wait standing, asking for it to be delivered. After over 24 hours - NOTHING. No messages, just a random call saying it would be delivered when it NEVER was. The customer service desk provided no information about the issue, when it would be resolved, and the emails are copy pasted from person to person. This company has horrible customer service, and clearly the 100+ price for adding a suitcase aren’t worth it. Now I will remember not to fall into their trap because I am losing my time with these useless, rude people.

Deceptive pricing

Deceptive pricing. Make sure you don't fall for the low fare advertising because when you look at the final total, you will find Air Europa's airline fee (fuel surcharge) that will be the same price of your ticket. That's not including all the other fees you will pay. The website is ridiculous and never works. If you register as a user, you will run into constant errors and never be able to log in an get miles. I called customer service about it, they transferred me to technical support who hung up on me before I even said hello. I seriously don't understand how businesses like this operate. They don't provide a service. Are they a money laundering front or something? Websites don't work, can't make reservations. After reading all these reviews, I am VERY grateful that I couldn't use their website to make a reservation. That experience was bad enough, the price is deceptive advertising and it sounds like the flight would have been a nightmare. Stay away!

Worst Customer Experience Ever

Worst Customer Experience Ever

I will never fly with Air Europa again. Our flight from Madrid to Lima (UX175 on June 18–19, 2025) was delayed by over **7 hours** due to a **technical issue**, yet the airline offered **no real assistance** — not even accommodation, proper food, or transport during the night. We were only given a **€12 food voucher**, which is laughable for an overnight airport stay.

What’s worse is the **customer service**. Absolutely no one at the airport helped us — they sent us from one desk to another, wasting our time and energy. When I tried to follow up via email, I received the **same copy-paste message** over and over again, with no human response or actual help. It feels like **email support is non-existent**.

Even their call center was unprofessional. One agent literally **laughed when I asked about our passenger rights** and refused to transfer me to a manager. The level of care was insulting.

This delay cost us money, sleep, and caused a huge disruption to our plans — yet **Air Europa took no responsibility** and is clearly trying to avoid proper compensation.

If you value your time, money, or basic dignity as a customer, **do not fly with Air Europa**. Absolutely unacceptable.

Most unhelpful customer service I've…

Most unhelpful customer service I've ever come across. I made a mistake on a booking and within minutes of booking confirmation was on the phone to correct it, but no interest to assist. I was sent away by them to come up with three different solutions/compromises which each time they refused to accept. Despite having a voucher system, they refused to give me one with any of my funds so that i could re-spend it with them online, so i was forced to keep speaking to them. When i finally found a solution which they would accept, they then wanted to pocket all the profits from the difference of the initial flights to the new flights AND charge me another 50% on top in order to make the changes to the booking. Now seeing here that the flight will be unpleasant on top of all this. I'm clear: Air Europa, not this time, nor ever.

Terrible is an understatement

Terrible is an understatement. Literally no service at the AirPort. Flight was cancelled after hours of departure time announced delays. Passengers had newer information on their phones than what the two poor excuses for AirPort employees acting as agents of the airline had to share at the boarding desk. Passengers were kept 7 Hours at Fiumicino, only a small bottle of water per capita was provided. Then squeezed in buses and transported to a hotel in the greater area at 1 am. No food, beverage. Then taken to the AirPort first thing in the morning to wait another 6 or 7 Hours to catch the next flight, and in many cases where this was a connecting flight, another 24-36 Hours of waiting is expected. Air Europa is a perfect example of the crap corporate return optimizing culture has produced. Just appalingly bad.

B**** competition

There is really no other way of putting it: it's as if the air hostesses are participating in a rudeness competition (I would use another word but Trustpilot doesn't let me). On my Madrid-Lima flight, the hostess in charge was tremendously rude to elderly people that required assistance to board the plane and yet showed up with hand luggage. I can see why she's bothered that elderly people board with small suitcases and then need help storing them. I understand that lifting 10 kg many times a day, every day is annoying. I agree that people who require assistance should just check in all their bags. BUT there is no excuse for how many times she said it; how loud and aggressively she said it; how she made sure that the whole plane heard it; how her colleagues joined the chorus; how they spoke and looked at passengers with disgust. At the end, they almost started a mutiny from passengers because they were just SO rude and out of line. This was totally unacceptable, especially from the hostess in charge, who should be leading by example. It made everyone extremely uncomfortable. Now, on the way back, they did the exact same thing — a pack of hyenas bullying a passenger and making sure everyone was aware of their poor opinion of the passenger. Except that, of course, nobody would take the staff's side, seeing how they were being so rude. What happened: Someone in seat 21K had ordered a Kosher meal — but the hostess delivered it to seat 17K instead. The passenger probably didn't even hear what she said (the engine noise, the fatigue ... we all know how hard it is to hear what they say on the plane, like when they mention food options ... very hard to hear). So the person just took the box that they were given and opened it; probably started to eat. A few minutes later the hostess realized SHE'd made a mistake and bullied the passenger in 17K. "It's Kosher! It's for Jewish people! Why did you tell me you had ordered a Kosher meal?!?!?!" When the passenger said he hadn't heard anything about a Kosher meal, she continued, shouting from two rows behind: "I asked you in Spanish and in English and you said yes!!!!! You said yes!!!!! Don't lie sir!!!!!! Don't lie!!!!!!!" Then the chief air hostess showed up — she was more on a passive-agressive approach, contrary to the Madrid-Lima one, who was a flat-out b****. She first made sure we all heard that the box had "21K" written on it — but somehow made it sound as if that was the passenger's fault for not having seen it, instead of her colleague's. She then proceeded to walk around with the box in her hands, covering her face and saying "OMG SO EMBARRASSING!!!! What am I gonna tell her! I will try to explain ... OMG so embarrassing!" to which her colleague kept responding "I asked him and he said Yes!!!!!". When the chief stewardess went to speak to the passenger in seat 21K, she made sure we heard her from many rows ahead/behind. I was three rows ahead and I heard the fuuuull explanation about how the passenger in 17K was basically an idiot. (I would argue this was the staff's fault and the passenger in 17K shouldn't be blamed, let alone bullied repeatedly, for everyone to hear). Now, in my Madrid-Brussels flight, half a dozen people were aggressively forced to check in our hand luggage (it was larger than what's allowed — but literally most hand luggage is too large than what's allowed these days) even tho it all fit inside, there was enough space and it was a completely unnecessary hassle for people travelling from the other side of the world. Again, the attitude of the staff was the issue here: not just firm or serious but full-on aggressive. Sad to see Air Europa staff being more rude than Ryanair's. It seems to be a widespread thing so it seems it's something the company doesn't care about. Shameful.
