I’d give 0 stars if possible

I’d give 0 stars if possible. They cancel your flight, refuse to refund passengers which is illegal (EC261/2004), and Only offer vouchers valid for 24 months. Many of their European flights are seasonal which actually only gives you 6 months to use them.
Unhelpful customer care and no direct phone lines for complaints.
My flight was Dublin to Toronto return. Avoid at all costs!

THIEVES

Cancelled our flights this summer -not even due to COVID but because they made the decision not to fly our route. Refusing to give refunds even though they legally have to- do not give them your money!

Most fraudulent company around. Steal your money, cancel your flights and refuse to refund in total disregard of the law.
Appalling customer service; ignore phone calls, emails, tweets, facebook messages etc.

The absolute worst

The absolute worst! Not only do they refuse refunds and break EU law, then have a change of heart and interpret the law how they wish! To top it off, they refuse to deal with customers that have not booked directly through their website, regardless of the product being in their name!

Just refund us. Absolute crooks!

Booked flights in June 2019 to fly to Vancouver from Gatwick in April 2020. The flights were cancelled due to covid-19 and unlike all of the other airlines operating in the UK, AirTransat have categorically refused to refund customers for the cancelled flights. They are changing flight dates, forcing people to accept the new dates or get a voucher. Pretty good money maker for them, an 'exchange cash for voucher' scheme. Individual vouchers (which we haven't recieved by the way) allocated to each person, rather than as one voucher for the total cost. All designed for AirTransat to keep as much as your money as possible. They even have the audacity to suggest 'claim off your insurance if you want cash' knowing full well that insurers don't pay out because it is not their responsibility to fund AirTransats refund obligations.

Despite being told by every single organisation, consumer rights group, bank, Citizens advice, Transport ministers office and regulatory bodies that we are due a FULL CASH REFUND, AirTransat seem to think this doesn't apply to them and they can carry on stealing money and sitting on a tidy sum.

It is in the hands of the regulatory bodies to do the right thing and sanction them for their appalling behaviour, we are in the process of claiming the money back from our bank.

I will never book with AirTransat again. Would rather pay twice as much and fly with BA.

Check out the most recent MSE travel survey for further clarity, 0% of respondents complaining about AirTransat had received a refund that they are LEGALLY ENTITLED TO.

Booked to travel this year for a very special family reunion as I was told that the service was second to none. Got notification that they had changed my flights and shorten my holiday. Either had to except it get a credit note. I have requested refund several times as I have no need to travel next year and customer service has been appalling. Also, why is credit notes issued to individual travellers. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. Come on Airtransat, do the right thing.

Untrustworthy and scam artists

AT cancelled Manchester to Vancouver flights 3 days after booking. Fully refundable tickets and their own fare tariff says if they cancel customers can have a refund, even if force majeure, just no compensation. Requested refunded on the phone, via Twitter DM and by email. Told to take a voucher or claim on insurance. Was told they have lawyers who say that EC Regulation 261/2004 doesn't apply, which is cobblers. Would give a negative score if could. So don't trust this airline, if they can't be good to customers how can we trust them to fly safely?

Crooks

The tale is familiar as you read virtually all the appraisals on this website.
Air Transat cancelled return flight from the UK to Vancouver in May and refused to reimburse monetary value by method of original payment - in my case Credit Card. I did not accept their Vouchers and insisted that they comply with EU regulation 261/2004. They tried to distract with baloney about the CAA and force majure which was totally irrelevant. Successfully claimed back via Section 75 of Consumer Act (Credit Card). Sadly the Canadian government are not backing their own citizens on this matter. - disgrace. They do not deserve to have an operators licence. Scammers and Crooks.

i would give 0 if there was an option. absolutely disgraceful. they cancelled my flight from london to toronto and put staggered vouchers in my email which i did not authorise. they have ignored the laws and are not issuing refunds even though their terms and conditions clearly state they give refunds. they have taken their contact details of their sites so was nightmare to try and get some communication back from them. and they totally ignored my request for refund. have initiated chargebacks through my bank to recover money that belongs to me! will never fly again rather pay more or do indirectly than fly with these. hope they lose their customers for the way we have been treated!

NEVER FLY WITH AIR TRANSAT

I purchased a flight with Air Transat last August (2019) to fly from Gatwick to Toronto July this year.
On June 20th I received an email from them informing me there had been a change to my flight reservation.
I was given these 2 options
1-Accept the new itinerary. In that case, no further action is required.
OR
2-Refuse the new itinerary. In that case, your reservation will be cancelled, and a future travel credit will be issued for the value of the amount received on file. The credit is valid for 24 months after your original return date.
In order to register your refusal, please click here.

I replied to the email saying I did not want either of the options & that I wanted a refund. I received an automated reply saying they would respond within 72 hours.
I have had no reply from Air Transat to that email.
They are totally refusing refunds on flights
I certainly wouldn't recommend this Airline to anybody

I would actually give no stars to Air…

I would actually give no stars to Air Transat if it was an option.
My comments are the same as others I’ve been reading on here and elsewhere.
This company have taken the law into their own hands and refusing to give customers who’s flights they have cancelled a refund. They are using our money to prop up their business.
Customer service is non existent.
They should be ashamed of themselves. Stealing people’s money.
We flew with them regularly over the years but never again. They surely would rather retain loyal customers who return to their services year after year than lose them forever.
They have the money. They should do the right thing and offer refunds. Instead they choose to take their chances breaking the law.
There is a lot of bad feeling towards Air Transat out there.

Ignorant, uncaring, disgusting excuse for an airline

As others have already said, Air Transat have decided to retain their customers money during the corona-virus crisis. On top of this they've received Canadian government money to keep running their operation.

Both the CTA and CAA all recognise that whilst issuing vouchers for cancelled flights COULD be a solution, it doesn't negate the legal duty to refund if requested, under EU legislation and Canadian consumer law.

In the past, Air Transat used to be an exceptional airline, but from flights I've taken with them over the past couple of years, they're now nothing special. The food quality and portions have reduced, whilst the ticket prices have risen.

Normally, I'd say they're just about average, but their lack of customer empathy during the recent pandemic would see their rating drop to bad, in my opinion.

Save your money, spend it with another airline. You'll be better off if a similar situation arises.

An unrepentant, morally bankrupt company!

There was a time when I would recommend AirTransat to my Canadian and British friends. Now, I will tell them to steer clear of this company. They are ignoring EU regulations that requires them to refund the money to tens of thousands of us due to the Coronovirus Pandemic. They refuse to budge despite a bail out scheme from the Canadian government. Propping themselves up on the backs of their customers is unethical and disgraceful.

Zero customer service

Hopefully someone sees this before booking with them. Was treating my parents to a wedding anniversary gift to Canada for 10 days. Booked with air Transat as they seemed good. They cancelled the flight and REFUSE to give me a refund, I have stated that its the law to provide one but they won't entertain the idea and send generic emails as they aren't reachable by phone. Please don't use this company, they are a NIGHTMARE to deal with if something goes wrong. Zero customer service

It's day light robbery!

Very poor customer service. One blunt email advising flights cancelled, no refunds and that I'd have to accept credit vouchers. Vouchers issued per person so not to the one who paid and can only be used per person. Under eu271/2004 they are obligated to provide a refund if vouchers not acceptable but are refusing. You cant get through to them either no doubt due to the number of upset customers 5 hr+ queue and no direct email address. Have to DM via Facebook or twitter but only get automated replies which are no use. Very cross with their attitude using customers money to keep the shareholders happy.

DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR MONEY.

DO NOT TRUST THEM, they have $4500 of my money which by EU law they should return but are ignoring. They are also still selling tickets knowing they cant get you to your destination then cancelling a few days later offering no cash back just useless vouchers, this is nothing short of a scam, if you want to use said vouchers you will have to pay more if prices go up and if it's less you lose the balance! How is this fair or legal. Can we give them a zero?BUYER BEWARE.
