Racist attack by an Aldi staff

Racist attack by an Aldi staff.

Me and my daughter just been shopping at TKMaxx so we were carrying a large shopping bag from TKMAXX. I just needed to buy some essentials so we had a quick shopping at Aldi Merrielands Dagenham. When I was scanning the products at the self check out an Aldi staff came near us, she is maybe in her 60s, slim build with a short gray hair, approached my daughter, she said she needs to check the bag, the TKMAXX bag my daughter was carrying. My daughter showed it to her but my daughter asked why? but she just turned her back from us. So after I paid my shopping items, I went to ask her why did she want to see what’s on my daughter’s TKMaxx shopping bag? She said it’s the store policy and I replied that I’ve been shopping here for more than 5 years and never experienced it. I then asked for the Store Manager. Whilst waiting for the Store manager to turn up. That same Aldi staff approached another costumer, a dark-skinned woman, the same staff wanted to check on her bag too, that woman went furious. So when the store manager came, I said it is clearly a racist attacked on us being a non white skinned costumer while she didn’t check on other costumer who were white. When I asked the store manager the name of his staff the store manager refused to give her name. I insisted to ask the name of the staff as my right as a costumer. The store manager said to me to just get his name instead when I make a complaints. The name of the store manager is Lee and obviously he is siding with his staff . They maybe from the same Country. The staff who checked on our personal bags did not came back to apologise. Her name must be Vasilica, if I heard it right. Aldi staff should be wearing a name badge but she was not wearing anything. It should be the security who should be checking costumer bags at the gate not randomly checking on someone’s personal belonging. I saw 2 other security walking around, they should be at the gate as securities. Not a till staff to check on costumer personal staff! This never happened to me even when shopping in Harrods or Selfridges, they don’t do that to costumers. Very appalling costumer service!

WORTHLESS 3-Year Warranty on electrical items! - AVOID Aldi like the plague!!

I purchased an Ambiano (ALdi own bran) Black Retro Pedestal Fan from their Thetford, Suffolk store in June 2025 whilst staying with my Parents.

Unfortunately, I couldn't fit it into the car to bring back to my home and didn't go back and get it until October, when Summer was over. So, it didn't get assembled until June 2026 when we had a heatwave.

As soon as I switched it on, it TRIPPED the electrics! I went out of my flat & downstairs to reset it, then tried it again in 2 other sockets in different rooms, (to eliminate the socket being the problem - our electrics were tested and passed the statutory electrical safety test just the month before - so there are no issues with our system), and each time it immediately tripped the electrics again, so clearly it is an UNSAFE ELECTRICAL ITEM and FAULTY out of the box!

One of the attractive features of buying this fan from Aldi is the 3-YEAR Warranty. So, I contacted Aldi and provided a scan of the till receipt and details of the fault.

They sent a replacement from Germany but after some time, it was REJECTED by Parcelforce in the UK due to an ERROR Aldi had made with either the address (from the tracking it looks like they missed off the vital first line with house number & street name, which would make it undeliverable), or had failed to either provide all the required customs paperwork or made an error on it.

I reported this to Aldi but they failed to understand and frustratingly kept responding to say they had fulfilled the Warranty claim by sending a replacement, whilst IGNORING the FACT that it had been returned to sender due to the mistakes they made with the address and/or customs paperwork!

In the end, they finally sent a second a shipment, (but not until they had received the first one back at their site in Germany - even though the tracking showed it was on the way back to them for several days prior to arrival).

I had repeatedly told them to MAKE SURE that the second shipment was 1) CORRECTLY addressed this time & 2) that they ensured the Customs requirements & paperwork were all present and correct - which you would have thought they would have been keen to check & ensure after their earlier mistake!

HOWEVER, 2 weeks after they sent the second shipment, it has NOT EVEN LEFT Germany, with NO SCANS for over 10 postal days, so OBVIOUSLY there is a problem with this shipment as well, which seems unlikely to be co-incidence, and is probably due to them having repeated mistakes, (with incomplete or incorrect customs paperwork preventing it even leaving Germany being the most likely explanation - as the German courier would be unlikely to spot a mistake with the delivery address, which wouldn't be picked up until the UK courier got it).

So, here I am 2 heatwaves later, because Aldi sold me a FAULTY, UNSAFE and potentially dangerous, (the electricity trips out to try to prevent electric shocks or fires), fan and seem to be INCAPABLE of either writing the correct delivery address on the label, or meeting the Customs documentation requirements!

I will NEVER buy from Aldi's middle aisle ever again as the so-called Warranty is defectively WORTHLESS due to their INCOMPETENCE as sending a replacement, (unless they are deliberately making errors to avoid having to actually replace the faulty item - that would be SHOCKING, but based on the evidence so far, it is becoming more believable)!

Got a parking ticket, they were horrible!!

Been a customer since they opened the store and they’re okay?
Had a pack of jersey royals last week which were mouldy!
Bot has the rot festered, in the post this morning, a £70 fine for my wife for parking over the allowed time ( did a full shop but caught an old freind and went for a coffee)! Didn’t notice the sign saying only 1 hour 30mins?
Were pensioners, she cried as it’s the first time she’s ever had a parking ticket, they were absolutely horrible on the phone, so we’ll be shopping elsewhere from now on ( South Africa customer service).
I notice that they never respond to their reviews ( good or bad) so they are clearly out of touch with their customers and reality, or they just don’t care, bye bye Aldi I’d like to say say it’s been a pleasure, but….no one upsets my wife!!

Queues and queues and no staff on checkouts.

I did a review of Aldi a couple of years ago when they first installed the self checkouts and issues with queues and no staff on the staffed checkouts. They never bothered to reply or comment. Here we are again two years on and the problem in my local Basingstoke Aldi is worse now than before. I did a large shop earlier today, the store was not particularly busy but I had a large trolley. I went to self checkouts and there was a queue of 6 people waiting to use them. I went to the only staffed checkout which I could see had 3 people waiting to be told aisle shut and we'll open another one shortly. Open another ONE. So, busy Friday, no staffed checkouts open and queues at the self scan machines. This is shite. Aldi, you are becoming worse than your rivals. If your aim is to drive customers away with the service you provide then you are going about it correctly. YOU NEED TO DO BETTER.
I'll be trying Lidl for my next shop.

Special buy stock finder NOT ACCURATE

So I was after a special buy. After exhausting my 5 nearest stores I saw online there was a stock finder. It said a store an hour away had stock. So I drove there and they didn’t have it. It was a dreadful place to drive to too. Probably will end up with a ticket or something. Why can’t you post items like you used to? Why is your stock finder useless? I’ve spent a fortune on petrol this week and wasted time I can never get back for nothing!!!! Cheers!!!!

Fooled by a fillet steak.....and Aldi.

As a treat we bought a fillet steak at £6.79. This is a lot of money for one steak so you expect the product to live up to the price. What a disappointment! I was unable eat much of this steak as so much grissle made large parts of it totally inedible. I actually felt I had been hoodwinked. The reputation of fillet is that it is the best tender cut of beef hence the price. I really feel not just disappointed but let down by Aldi; where is their product integrity!

Aldi Rump Steak..mBought a rump steak [Ashfields]…

Bought a rump steak [Ashfields] packaging was such that it concealed a fair proportion of the meat. When opened it was almost 50% solid white fat. Could not have been inspected prior to packaging. Ruined our evening meal.Aldi gave refund and replaced the steak. Store Manager stated Aldi may send me a voucher. This aspect has fallen on deaf ears. Aldi skirt round this when I raise it. Please check meat products as far as you are able before purchasing.

The first problem is no staff

The first problem is no staff to Man the check out not even one, I queued up or self service then they open an lane. People then rush from the supermarket floor to get in the only lane open. I then try to get all my shopping £80 worth on their punny crappy self service scales, well that didn't work, I ended up reloading my trolley and queuing again, the till I used broke down time and again whereas a member of staff had to reset everytime. My advise is DO NOT use the coulsdon store for large shops use Asda or waitrose. Lastly so many things just not there or unavailable

Aldi have gone massively downhill

Aldi have gone massively downhill in the last year or so. They never have the same products in store, or they just stop producing/stocking it completely. They change the entire product so that the packaging is the same, but it tastes, looks or smells different - such as the 'Colour" washing liquid has just shrunk from 1.9lt to 1.5lt, and it's now a watery, horrible smelling purple mix! Unfortunately they're the only big supermarket nearby or I'd definitely switch. Staff are all decent though, can't fault them.

I recently had a disappointing…

I recently had a disappointing experience at the Aldi store in Horsted Park, Chatham, ME5.

While shopping, I picked up two packs of cheese but decided at the checkout that I only wanted one. When I handed the other pack to the cashier, she responded rudely, saying, "You have to put it back yourself." I understand that stores may have different policies, but there is no reason for staff to speak to customers in such an abrupt and discourteous manner.

I have also noticed that this store routinely asks to inspect customers' bags. In my experience, I have never been asked to do this at the Aldi stores I use in Gillingham and Maidstone, or at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Home Bargains, or B&M. While I appreciate that stores have security procedures, the combination of repeated bag checks and poor customer service makes shopping at this branch feel unwelcoming.

To make matters worse, I attempted to contact Aldi Customer Services using the email address I had, only to receive an automated reply stating that the email address is no longer in use. I was unable to find an alternative email contact on Aldi's website.

I hope Aldi improves both the customer service at this store and the way customers can raise genuine complaints.

We all know the problems with…

We all know the problems with plastic..we are well aware of where it profits ends up especially plastic bags. I have noticed that aldi push the sale of plastic bags on customers. clearly the checkout staff have been told to do this the reason..the bags cost approx..2 pence. Sell for 40 pence clearly the plastic problems don't bother aldi over there profits

Aldi dropping the ball

I have been an avid fan of Aldi, but over this last year there fruit and veg has declined! We have stopped buying our fruit and veg there now and have been buying at my local greengrocer! I have also noticed Lidl has been consistently improving!

I have no complaint about the quality…

I have no complaint about the quality of the produce, but the Romsey store is getting to be a waste of space. No tills manned before 0900, so if early shopping you have to use the unmanned checkout. Customers should get staff discount for doing the staff's job. Also shelves are often sparse. Went in at 0900 this morning, precious little fruit and veg and no flowers. I am aware of the restrictions on shelf stacking due to the flats above, but it is still not good enough. I should stress that the staff are brilliant and all work hard whilst still remaining friendly and helpful.

Brought a supposed meat feast pizza, seen more meat on a lolly pop stick, and I image the stick would taste better.
