Awful state agents. They are so greedy and racist. They never gave back our deposit fee.

The team at Highworth have worked hard to sell my property. A special mention to Jemma who has been incredibly proficient, kind, patient and always on hand with good advice!

We used Allan and Harris’ mortgage advisor service. The lovely Alanna Docherty helped us with honestly everything for buying our new house. She was amazing we could not fault her. She really went above and beyond and as for many people, all the things that come with buying the house can be very confusing but Alana explained everything so well and just made the whole process stress free to be honest. She always answered any messages or query’s quick and was always so friendly and polite. Her knowledge is great as well. We are so happy with the service provided and cannot recommend Alana enough. If you are looking for a mortgage advisor she is the one, we will be using her again for future housing things. Thanks so so much again Alana 😊

So poor experience with them. Before peyment was taken, the Sequence Brooker was ringing every day. After payment made, totally change atitute. Lack of communication, no reply, ignoring, waiting forever. Because not receiving support from broker I made bad mistake pull out from property I was hoping to buy. Always been worrying when problem because this broker is not with you when really need.
They change big amount of money for lifetime service. But no service after payment.

Highly recommend Allan & Harris. The whole letting team is very professional. Both Harry and Kevin are very friendly, helpful and responsive. The whole process is very smooth.

From the initial meeting to the conclusion the Ayr office were fantastic Caitlin, Ben and Allan were calming and reassuring at all stages. I am the anxious type so their management and constant updates were very welcome. I wish I had gone with their lawyers too in retrospect. I would not hesitate to deal with them again!!

Spoke with Laura to ask for a home report which I have still not received. I think she really hates her job because every-time I’ve called and she’s answered the phone she sounds like she would rather not be there. I have actually changed my mind about even buying a house form Allen and Harris because if you let someone like that answer the phone with no motivation to help your customers then I can only imagine the service you must provide. My brother has called to enquire about another property and the same Laura answered the phone and he has also changed his mind about getting a property. So congratulations yous have lost out on 2 potential deals. Staff should not be hired if they don’t like their job.

Saw a property yesterday in Broomlands st paisley, agent who showed up was the most unprofessional person I have delt with. She wouldn't even come through the property with us. Claimed there was a "smell" inside. Wasn't sure how long property was on the market. Didn't give us a business card or information about property. She didn't even shake my hand or say goodbye. I didn't realise estate agents got paid to stay outside the property. She (Lauren) is definitely not a very good representative for your business.

Used Allen and Harris Abingdon for my mortgage. Dealt with Aaron who was brilliant very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and actually went above and beyond in the service he delivered by giving me some great advice concerning landlord insurance. Would highly recommend using Aaron if you need a mortgage.

In the 5 months we were on with Allen & Harris, we didn't have many viewings (pre the market slowing down). After viewings, the agent gave us false hope on many occasions which always turned to nothing.
I can say, however, that once Holly took on our property, she did her best to get people through the door, she always kept us informed and gave feedback quickly afterwards. Even though we didn't sell with them and moved to another agent, we couldn't fault Holly's enthusiasm in doing great job

Currently trying to get back £11,000 despite my tenancy ending two weeks ago and ignoring all my requests for it to be returned. So stressful. SO unethical. I am furious with how I've been treated by this company.

The worst renting experience I've ever had. My landlord is an abusive bully who mocks, insults and abuses me in emails with Allen & Harris copied in. She has been doing this for months. Allen & Harris seem to accept this behaviour and at no point have asked my landlord to speak to me politely, despite the fact that I flagged multiple times how much the bullying treatment was affecting me and mental health. Allen & Harris seem to view tenant bullying as acceptable. If you raise any issue about your tenancy, they like to remind you that they 'work for the landlord, not the tenant'. They are this brazen and this shameless. You really need to know your rights inside out when renting from these people as they will take advantage of you if they can. There's no human decency or ethics involved; it's all about money. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone who is new to renting at all (tbf, I don't recommend them anyway).

Personally, having been a landlord, I would never want my tenants to be mistreated and exploited and made unhappy on my behalf. I actually believe in being decent to people, not just extracting as much money as possible from them while subjecting them to misery.

I terminated my tenancy early and I am still waiting for overpaid rent and my deposit back despite my tenancy ending two weeks ago. I've had to raise a dispute with the Tenancy Deposit Service as Allen & Harris refuse to return my deposit to me and are ignoring me and screening my calls. When I called them and got through, the moment I said who I was they went quiet. I could hear background noise but they simply decided not to converse with me! Utterly childish, unprofessional and appalling behaviour.

Once these people have your funds, they DO NOT CARE. They will cause you as much stress as possible and they don't care about the impact on your mental health. The lack of engagement is staggering. Calls, emails, texts, all go ignored. They will push you to breaking point and then offer you a breadcrumb of communication. It is PATHETIC and the staff need to grow up. If they think they can treat people like this without consequence, they are wrong. The Property Ombudsman exists for a reason and I am making a formal complaint.

This whole experience has been one of the most stressful, abusive and unpleasant I have ever had. I wish I had never ever picked up the phone to inquire about the property. The whole experience has been absolutely appalling. I truly can't believe how badly I've been treated. I am done with renting now. Allen & Harris have shown me just how exploitative, abusive and awful it can be. I'm fully done. Avoid.

Oliver and the team were great, explaining the process of selling and what was happening in the local market. They had a well managed launch that was clear, and well executed, getting good offers even before the house went onto Rightmove. It was all easy and smooth. Thanks.

As a landlord who was with them for a very short time, I made two complaints concerning 1) Repairs and maintenance and 2) Rent payments, both against the company they use to contract out these services (Sequence). After exhausting their internal complaints procedures I took them to the Property Ombudsman who held up my two complaints against Sequence. Don’t use them.

Very disappointed with my experience with this agent. Arranged to view a rental property in Farringdon. The first agent I spoke with over the phone was great, she was very helpful in arranging a date and time and follow up communication to confirm was spot on.

On the day I dealt with a different agent who was very unprofessional. Firstly he was not there on time. He eventually arrived 15min late as the next person was also arriving for their viewing, no apologies or explanation given. While I was waiting I called the office twice and was told each time that he should be there and they’d message him. As I was about to leave to attend another viewing in the area his car pulled up.

As the agent was late, I had very little time to view the property. To make matters worse, the agent had clearly not properly arranged access to the property for the viewing. The occupants were in, completely unaware that there would be viewings that day, and in the middle of packing their belongings ahead of their move. This meant that there was limited access to the flat, and it was difficult to judge it as a potential tenant.

And once inside the property the agent seemed to be more of a shadow than anything useful. Nothing was said to try and showcase the good features of the property or about anything really. I asked a couple of questions and the occupants answered these rather than the agent. I also asked about the application process, the agent gave scant details and has not followed up with any useful information via email, text, phone call or business card as I have experienced through other ‘professional’ letting agencies.

Before attending the viewing this was one of my favourite properties, and the property itself may be fine, but my brief experience with such an unprofessional person has tainted my view of this letting agent. It may be that this is a one off occurrence and maybe they do have other ‘professional’ staff, but this experience has put me off dealing with this company.

To sum up: disorganised, unpunctual, poorly informed and completely unprofessional Avoid!!!

I can't begin to express my appreciation for the personal and professional service that the staff in the Chippenham office have provided.

I was in the unenviable position of being in the middle of life's five biggest stressors including divorce and (consequently) needing to find somewhere to live, fast, within a tight budget and in a central location. I had been around the letting agencies in town to register, but due to my status as having been previously bankrupt I was met with short shrift, disinterest and dismissiveness. Not so at Allen and Harris.

I was positively welcomed by Matthew Hooper, the Lettings Manager who not only quickly got me 'on the books' but actively offered solutions to my wish list. Almost overnight Jessica Burnell, Lettings Negotiator was on the case. Each time I popped into the office there was always someone on hand, from the Senior Branch Manager to the Sales team willing and happy to help if either of these two were out on business.

In short, within a couple of weeks I had the keys to my new home and was extremely happy.

I am not sure whether or not vetting and contracting with good landlords is a feature of their service but a review would not be complete without a mention of mine...super caring, fast acting and not in the least bit superior.

Thank you all involved. I hope I prove to be a model tenant for some time to come.
